Why bother with zombies and other players?? Not want to bother going to pesky villages/towns/barracks/heli sites where you may encounter undead and real life undead?? Here is le answuer - just comb the fuckin woods for tents (and vehicles) - find everything you need!! Tonight i got 2 M107's, ghille x3, NVG's x 2 rangefinders etc etc . Easily found 12 tents in 6 or 7 locations stuffed to the gills with cool lewt on the map (well we know where to go). repeat to fade.......It took numerous runs back and forth to stock up my now overloaded tents with shit that I can't use - but when I die I can at least head back to the tent and restock v quick and be up and running in no time. My new stash may well be gone in the morning but I'll just steal it all back. Basically - we're getting a shittonne overflow of rare ends now - way more than any one server needs - and the only easy way is to nick it out of tents from the farmers. I don't like this one bit (but i can't help it cos its in der game yah) -

Am sorry - tl:dr version 1. Allow us to bury our shit. Who puts their valuables in a tent? It's been said before - we've got the entrenching tool - allow us to use it. 2. Limits to cross polinating servers with high end loot from other servers. -

I for one very much like the new Zed behaviour. For one, it's refreshing having to revise your approach into a Z infested area - keeps you on your toes big time. More tweaks to the Z's please. Am having fun being a tester. With regards their perception: If you're unfortunate enough to be in a Zed's 'cone of vison' then he'll see you and come after you. If you are smart and keep pushing forward then you can sift past them. I like this. Plus point here is that you now have the option to run - evading them is much easier and they will give up the ghost if you are smart at it. To illustrate: 1: Got seen from a good distance. I ran into a building after a small bit of evasive tactics. The single persuing Zed pretty much started sniffing around near the entrance yet did not enter. Before the patch they auto invaded. 2: Got seen from a good distance. I elected to fuck off into the woods. The initial Zed plus 4 more Zeds who joined in were dogged; all Benny Hill style, and I was trying to see if I could occlude their POV against mine by nipping around groupings of trees (like I saw in that video). Aw fuck this- this is stupid, but then I found the solution - I went straight through and out a pair of close together Conifers/Evergreens (they must be a bigger 'itemobject') and that stumped them. They wandered back to base picking their noses. Have done this a few times and hey it works. (Then again maybe they can only run so far from their patrol area? WTF knows - just passing on the info). Yes Gary..yes. Just keep your eyes out for their view direction. Easy enough and adds more of the fear. If you don't shoot, you can evade the bastardz that saw you and they won't hound you forever. Even if you do shoot, you can still lose em. If not then keep the weapons out and start blasting. Gunfire however, has now been shuffled down the list of DayZ survival techniques. This all makes sense and am liking where it's going with regards the Zed's behaviour. Easier a bit to hit (but has their HP been buffed slightly?) BETA: Are We There Yet? PS: Revelatory post on reddit (sure it's been linked but it's superb so here it is 'again') This gives you aggro-ranges of all the weapons in DayZ. Didn't realise the AKM added 40m on top of the 80m of the other AK variants. Not so good round town. The AS50's aggro range is almost the orbit of Jupiter. -

It would add a random mechanic when prowling around in a town/city. Too near to a church when the bell goes off and you're in deep shit. If you're away from it then you got a clean field to go looting for a while. I've never checked to see if the town bells go off on the hour exactly. Can anybody confirm this? Come to think of it, if electrical power is added to the game then the klaxons on fire stations could be switched on for a laugh.

Just saw a boat - Dumped my pack by a tree - swam out a bit and lo butterfingers my gun, ammo and everything else is at the bottom of the sea. I can see it but is there a way to go dive and get it? TY for any replies.

Clear and concise; you hit the highs, and this for me is the best guide yet on the sniping rifles in DayZ. TY Ace. The mod you pulled up as an overlay showing the range adjustment graph - what is it, where can you get it and is it kosher for use in DayZ?? I would say sticky this.

SU-25? In a outhouse? Whaatt? Thats a russian jet you're talking about! Confirmed - I was taking a dump and a Huey spawned spawned right ontop of me. I was pinned to the pan and couldn't reach the toilet roll. Total bummer. -

I just found two vehicles tonight. Each one better than the last. Went from the far west to Berenzino and back (for medical supplies) with a pit stop. Just keep looking - or more importantly 'don't keep looking' - then you'll stumble across one. -

Note the convo about dismemberment: Hall: I’ve actually done that with a zombie. But I turned it off because it’s too much work to do it with all the different models. It’s really easy, a couple of config changes in Arma 2, and you can detect all the hit points using the damage handle. It’s pretty easy. And it’s already all there. It’s just an art pipeline issue. Hall: We’d do it for the zombies. You wouldn’t do it for the players. We’d just do it for the zombies. Oh go on Rocket .. do dismemberment for the players too..... purleeeeeese! Hall: I secretly put it in, and didn’t put it in the build notes, that zombies will investigate a lot of sounds. Like drinking, eating, hunting and that, they’ll walk to the location. Excellent article BTW - read it all of you. -

Almost shat myself watching this - scary shit. Looks like you were toast at 'the end'. I'm currently tooled up with gillie / silenced M4 and NVG. Going back to the beach looks like fun! Great vid - especially catching sight of the 1st zombie in the flashlight. This is what DayZ is perfect at - shitting yourself and screaming like a cheerleader.
