Rolling Changelog: Stable Branch: 0.32.114557
erbtype replied to rocket's topic in News & Announcements
Mouse movement still isn't right. I can't turn off acceleration and it just feels so wrong - it's quick then slow... Why the change from A2/A3? -
DayZ modding stand still? whats up? "dayZ clones" have better features? why?
erbtype replied to timedance's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
As an example, Origins already has it. Get the gear you need, build house. Make your house better depending on your level of banditry/heroism. Put your gear in the house and lock it down with a unique pin code. Build a garage, put your vehicle in, lock it down. Better than sticking a tent in a rock/under a lake etc. The way I see it is other people are trying things which are moving the game on, adding to it, keeping it fresh to an extent. That's a good thing. It also forces the DayZ devs and SA devs to up their game. Again, a good thing. You know, people keep saying 'wait for SA'. What are the odds we'll all be here in a year's time hearing the same thing? The window of opportunity won't be open forever. -
Fair comment. Just an idea, take out the one (body) shot .50cal weapons and make getting your breath back longer so if you move you have to wait more time in order to take the shot. Make the other long distance scoped weapons and their ammunition much, much rarer, ie rangefinder rare. Also, looking at the first post, wind and ballistics would not only apply to sniper rifles it would be every weapon, so your Makarov shot at 15m has a chance of being blown off course (smaller, lighter projectile) and I would imagine something like a crossbow which fires a much larger projectile and is short ranged would be even more prone to deviation.

I agree with shadowboxer. One the surface, great idea, but then I get thinking how are you supposed to accurately guesstimate the wind? Real world snipers have a spotter to range and judge the wind. It's hard enough finding a rangefinder in DayZ. I personally think that trying to get ultra realistic with things in the mod is spoiling it and I don't want to be playing a shooting sim while avoiding zombies/hatchet attack from behind. The devs have some great ideas and do a good job at implementing them, but sometimes they should sit back and look at the game they're working on and see that certain ideas are not for that game. just my 2 cents...

You're welcome. Agree the game is much better when in a pair or more, it's made for that IMO. I'm generally solo and just go where it takes me.

Enjoyed that mate, never thought about the power lines before that. Combat logger got what he deserved. You ever play solo or always have some folk to team up with?

PATIENT ZERO - Dr. Ivan Hofman - Dayz Origins Ep.9
erbtype replied to de4dcert's topic in DayZ Mod Gallery
Agreed, along with some kind of objective as Origins has. How the Cherno server you're is set is an interesting way to go. I see you get tucked up somewhat a couple of times in the latest vid. Revenge will be bloody? -

Just Origins for me right now, though it's tough getting the hours in around work/family/etc. Did have a blast last night against some guys who had a .50 cal on a pick up and PKPs, got tucked up twice but there you go, some you win some you lose. You're bossing it on that Cherno server, no wonder you're enjoying being back there so much B) -

Aye, that's what tickled me the most, in respect of the 'bigger' youtuber ;) And that your vid was up pretty quickly after his... Funnily enough I had the good doctor spawn twice on me today within a minute, at a barracks and deer stand not more than 300m apart from each other. Haha, look forward to it. -
Hmm, good work on all the food variations but it could have waited IMO. Are Zs still going to be able to hit through walls? Will Zs still be able to hit you in a heli despite being stood at the rotor blade limits (ie 20+ foot away from the heli body)?

I had (more than) a little chuckle when you put this vid up :D In relation to your newest vid, he's a bit unlucky young Gilbert... -
is dayz 100% PvP on the long term?
erbtype replied to _Anubis_ (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Sounds like you play like I do. I got tucked up last night by a guy in a group I'd met maybe an hour previously (on Origins) but I'll put that down to language differences and him backed into a corner panicking after a confrontation in a town. I got killed again 10 minutes later as a fresh spawn from two guys with shotguns in an industrial part of one of the towns. Tried speaking to them but nothing back other than lead. Bit pointless shooting fresh spawns around the towns IMO but I guess it gives them a thrill. I'd rather meet new people and try and team up, get a car/heli and see where it goes from there. Anyway, I hope pure PvP isn't where the game goes, I like some PvP but I'd like to see where I can take a game as well. -
NVG glasses in 1.7.5.1 [warning: spoiler]

Good luck with deer stands. Maybe I was unlucky but I did a run of 5 this morning around Bop. 4 were empty and 1 had an M9+2mags. -
v175 beta: meat issues [solved] [old]
erbtype replied to Dayzo's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Another lone player here, I like to help people if I can but otherwise keep myself to myself, much like _Anubis_ Upping the challenge so I have to adapt is good - to an extent. I agree with changes like having to boil water, food/water consumption being quicker, weapons and equipment that will degrade, ammo in short supply... I thought the Zs were about right in 1.7.4.4. Glitchy yeah, odd patterns of running at you yeah, but could still be a pita. How about fixing the glitching and odd attack patterns first before throwing in new features? But now every town seems to have a greeting party running out to me (Zs spawn in building and immediately make a beeline for the player 200m away because their AI says I'm there, not because I've been noisy or they've seen me) even if I take the slowest, most covert route I can. And that's before I fire a shot... I appreciate the Zs senses have now been fixed, though I suspect they've been slightly over-fixed. The one thing this game is in danger of is becoming over-complicated by trying to be too realistic. If the simplicity of getting some basic gear together (enough to survive) and competing is lost people will desert the game.
