Just wondering since Stable currently has Persistent on, I wanted to give it a try. But since tents are in the game I've never had one, so I'm wondering if they really are necessary to keep your items after a reset. I remember on exp, items itself would stay after reset, but not sure what the current state is. I know its not recommended to just leave items laying around, because there will probably be a cap of items and the server will clean lose items. But my question is, can I replace a tent with a backpack? Will they save after reset? Thank you.

Just wondering exactly how do I know which servers are official? Its mainly to set up a tent. Thanks.

I couldn't really find anything about it, thats why I just opened this thread, thanks for the info, maybe I will wait though. Thanks a lot. Yeah just trying to figure which servers are "better" to pitch them and try them out. I only play First Person servers, so I will definitely check you guys out! Thanks for the info!

I get your point, I may have confused what you meant. Those ideas are amazing and things like that would be a huge game changer for DayZ. I know many other games have Holiday specials, but those are not simulation games. Anyhow, what I though you meant was for example for Christmas just randomly start spawning christmas hats lol. Sorry for the misunderstanding ;)

They already mentioned they will add toold to create events for privates hives to create, I doubt the official servers will start adding these as it is a survival game, not en MMORPG. So if a specific private server or mod wants to add things like this, they will be able to. Anyhow, none of this would come any time soon.

No, this is not another Gore suggestion, body parts flying off or such. What I mean by visual injury is simply blood splatter where you hit are shot someone. Say if you shoot someone in the stomach you would see a big red splatter where the bullet was hit and if he is bleeding you will see the blood fountain coming out of it. This would be great to see where people have been shot (just for immersion) and maybe can wash it off or something. This is not a game breaking change as is mostly for immersion and/or fun. And the reason I am suggesting this is only because its suposed to be something simple to do as this has already been in ArmA since Operation Flashpoint as you can see in the pictures below. Face shots.

Yeah things like that would be awesome indeed. I'm sure they are going to get into more detail and hopefully as the one you described. My suggestion was more simple as a thing they could probably implement pretty easily. If your ok with very old graphics you can see the effect I was mentioning from this OPF video: Watch at 2:09 and 2:16

No, as this is kind of an example of where the limit of realistic and fun comes into play. This would make the game just more frustrating in my opinion and I am usually at favor with hardcore things, but not this. Items you are carrying already take damage when you get injured, so that aspect is kind of covered. I do agree damaged clothes should come more into play though. Maybe getting shot in the torso for example would damage the item and then that Ruined item will stay in that slot until you remove, then that slot can't be used again till it is sowed and then you can use that slot again. I don't know something like that. -
Yeah I would agree in having different ways of making fire, but keep them simple, after all we are supposed to be just regular people. For example be able to cut a Stone into 4 with a pick axe (1 slot each rock) and be able to bang 2 and get sparks, you would need something else to catch the fire, this would require 1-2 items more to make a fire, but it compensates from trying to just find a fire axe to cut down a tree.. Maybe add a Magnifier and that could also work in sunny days. You can also currently search for sticks on the ground in the wood though, but not logs. So maybe do something around that direction also.

Yeah I noticed it too, I only play on Hardcore, but even I went on a 3rd person server last night because everything was empty. Completely different experience.

I agree, however jumping from one server to the other or from one map to the other will still be a loading screen in between so its ok. I'm sure later on they can come up with a solution like a certain distance from each border of the map will give you an option to port to another map. Say All the West side of the map from South to North would allow you to travel to Namalsk and the East border (all water) would allow you to travel to Taviana for example. This would give a bigger gap to travel instead one small road that allows campers to just sit and wait. -

Although I don't think the old one was bad, I would use that one when the character is tired and the new animation for sprinting when he's not tired, being a bit faster. We can't really complain much, whenever it comes to working on animations, its always a plus. Yeah it does look weird and long arms right now, but I'm sure they are still working on it. -

The new animation explains how most people don't know how to run so this is a default run animation for regular dudes lol -
This doesn't mean its 50% complete, there is no way for the devs to calculate game completion at 1.0. Plus if they were reaching 1.0 and thought its no quite there, they might just start making up patches in between, like Patch 0.922 - 0.923.. I'm sure they will keep progressing well and who knows it might end up even better than we thought by 1.0.

They are in a way increasing the size already, not actual map size, but gameplay boundaries. Look at the current map and you will see how the North is being completely populated, in the mod all that was just dead forest. Now people actually go up there, hence making the map bigger. And there still is lots to go. I do agree with you on the Mountains, I would always love some mountains in DayZ and have a completely different environment up there, I'm hoping the far NW edge of the map gets some mountains as that is the highest peak of Chernarus. I think I was the only person that used to play way up North before as I used to horde choppers up there, but now I feel like a forest animal getting their trees cut down hahah. I've been all around the map comparing the places from the mod and how they are now and its the difference is huge. So maps ARE getting bigger I would say. -
I once in a while switch from Stable to Experimental so enjoy both. However when you switch, it needs to download the 800mb file each time. I'm not exactly sure what these downloads are or why it has to be downloaded every time we switch, but is there any way of going around this or not? Its not a big deal the fact that I have to download a bit, its because unfortunately here bandwidth is limited and some months when I am short, I can't really afford switching over like that. Yeah I know, sad story. Thanks!

Ok thanks, it was just confusing because it did say it was on 0.50 so thats why I was like "How am I on experimental if I didnt download the file" lol -
Well 50 hours in DayZ is not considered very much actually and still the amount of time spent in the game is worth the prize (in my opinion at least) I don't even play that much because there is not much to do yet, but I always like to support and come in once in a while after patches, but I have never complained for any of the bad things in the game, I mean its shitty yes, but I am expecting that already. And everything you said that has happened to you has happened probably 10 times worse to everyone. I have gotten out of situations like stuck under the floor, sometimes I was lucky or took me forever, but other times I would have to wait weeks to get a character wipe to be able to play again, but its ok. If the game is that broken I couldn't play, then that is what was meant. I am not defending the game, but if the developer of a game himself tells you not to buy the game, what can you expect? I would recommend you watch this video.

Cry me a river man, didn't you read all the Warnings before even purchasing the game!? Dec 2013? That was the early access release and that's where it still is at. Plus if you think that a few hours is wasted time, then this is the wrong game for you, because there is no progress in this game, you enjoy while your alive, then its back to zero. Take this DayZ mod quote "Don't get attached to your Gear".

Can I swtich from Experimental to Stable quickly?

What I forgot to mention that made me wonder about this is the other night Stable went down for Maintenance, I was able to join the 0.50 Experimental servers without switching everything, then when Stable came back I couldn't join Experimental anymore for wrong version. So its just confusing. I know I don't switch as often as I would like to sometimes. -
I haven't seen anything mentioned about it or if I have missed it, but we longer have the yellow and red chain on the screen indicating you when your connection with the server is having trouble. Right now when there is a reset you automatically get the "no message received.." right away. Even though most of the time you would disconnect or the server restarted, there was this chance of coming back after a yellow chain, and if not at least it would soften the hit of the red message of the devil popping in the middle of your screen right away haha. Any idea what happened with them?

I didn't really vote because its not that easy one sided choice. A successful game like Minecraft for example was innovative not only because of its gameplay, but also because it gave you all the right tools to live that sandbox experience. Don't confuse with games that say they are sandbox and its completely crap. DayZ doesn't have campaign, missions, cut-scenes. But just as Minecraft, It gives you the tools to do what you want.

I love the new zombie model, it looks insane. I just hope this is just the first one of many to come. We are lacking both on zombie count and variety right now. And correct me if I'm wrong, but pretty sure good designers can make these pretty quick ;)
