Which servers are currently running Exp ?

There are a couple of server, maybe 10? I only play Hardcore and I was able to join. There are servers in Australia, well not sure if Australian, but my ping was from far away and I met 2 people from there. There are 30 and 40 people servers, usually full.

    FIRE PLACE

Its very low, doesn't go high at all. But in real life it would depend on the wind, but the higher the smoke goes it will disperse and by the time its at a tree height you wouldn't see it much, but if there is a bit of wind it wouldn't go very high at all. Anyways, the fireplaces look amazing!
  3. And the final thing on the list was added today to Experimental! Yay! See guys, everything comes with patience.

How To Reveal invisible items - DayZ Standalone

Amazing tip, this was so annoying. Thanks a lot!

    regular to hardcore

Not lose, but Regular and Hardcore servers use different characters. Meaning your character from Regular will be available only on Regular and the Hardcore one will only be available on Hardcore, but you can switch between them as you like. Good to see more people moving to Hardcore servers, I never play on Regular, Hardcore gives you a completely different experience and immersion, you will love it!

Do you think Zombies should be headshots only?

I think zombies should need head shots only to kill. BUT, body shots should end up dropping them to the ground to save time or make an easier head shot, or maybe even knock them out, so if other players see a zombie on the ground they could think its dead but a proximity radar should trigger when another player is near and automatically get up and attack them, that would be awesome. For example: Every weapon can head shot zombies dead, small weapons like pistols or UZI's or something like that should just drop zombies to the ground for 2-3 seconds, and heavier caliber weapons to the body should knock them out "unconscious". Of course there would be a timer on the body of the zombie for how long it will stay in an "unconscious" state, before dying. This would be cool once they can maintain more zombies in the world.

    My first dayz sa story

I wish I would have had an experience that includes so many aspects on the game like your story. Even if it ended in betrayal, I think its kind of a perfect ending to a first experience. ;)

    Any Roadblocks?

Hi, just wanted to ask/comments about road blocks. Since Standalone doesn't have any I was wondering if they were going to be added at all. The roadblocks we saw in the mod were really good in my opinion, but they were mostly for vehicles, it was what made vehicles think their way through a town or take a small amount of time going around just to get through, giving oporunities to ambush, crash and dich your car in the middle of the town for other people to find and fix and so. With no roadblocks cars will just fly through towns with little to no risk of getting jumped by whoever is in the town. I don't remember hearing or reading anywhere about roadblocks coming back, I would understand it is something to look into adding later on when vehicles are implemented, but has there been anything mentioned about it? Thanks.
  9. Yeah, I personally don't think they should be rare at all, but they should be hard to fix, since vehicles repairs will be very detailed. Just finding a car will not be something exciting as fixing it is the big deal, not finding it. Its more likely you would find a more working car hidden in the woods by another player that has already fixed one, than trying to fixed a broken one in a spawn point in a town or something.

    Any Roadblocks?

The reason road blocks like that would be done in an appocalypse are to stop cars. So people that are stuck in towns would place road blocks for cars to stop and get snatched, I've seen it in many movies.. Or maybe stop military from going through and things like that, but when driving through towns and being annoying is actually the whole point, especially when you had zombies chasing you and could hit inside, it cause many mistakes by being in a hurry or scared and causing crashes making you have to bail out and ditch the car. Then maybe you can go back to fix it or give other players to find cars crashed into road blocks for you to fix. How many times I fixed cars that were crashed into road blocks. It must have frustrated the owner, but it makes perfect sense for what would happen in DayZ.
  11. Not the best video example to compare as that car is extremely fast, a Huey would go that speed, but that car outruns a Little Bord and there are no road blocks or any danger, so that shouldn't be a concern for making the world feel smaller, having a vehicle can also be beneficial, but for how long and at what risk, that's the price you pay.

    My idea against alt f4

Isn't this already implemented with the new combat log system? It uses the MMO style where your character will stay in the world for 30 seconds after you leave the game.
  15. I know the development team has a lot of work on adding more zombies, adding more items to the world, and later probably more stuff like tents and buildings. But at the same time trying to keep this from stressing out the servers with more stuff to add. So my simple idea of adding more items to the world without stressing out the server was something like this. All items in game now are visually put into the game world for you to see. But what about if you could add items not physically into the world but more like as a menu or just for you to see on the UI. An example: If you are looting a house and crouch under the tables, prone under the beds and after getting everything you see, you head out. This could probably take 20-40 seconds, depending on the house and loot you find. Lets say you find a dresser with some drawers and give an option to open the drawer, this would pop up your Inventory and instead of saying "VICINITY" on your left, it would say "DRAWER" and you would be able to see what items are inside the drawer. No need to add any animation to the drawer opening because you are not physically looking into the model of the drawer, you are just looking at the UI. This could probably increase the looting time by a minute minimum just depending how many little action menus you add per house and on how picky you are feeling. The reason I mention the looting time is because this would make looting a small town take much longer than a simple run through. And taking a bit more time to loot would equal making the world feel bigger. This would not affect people that don't feel like taking longer, because that would be up to you how much dedication you would put into looting a town or house you run by. How I also see this being useful is because right now the first people to loot the coast after a reset are the ones taking most of everything, so giving people that start playing at the end of the reset not finding much. But if my idea would be implemented, then you would let the player that logged in later to have a chance of looking a bit harder for stuff other people didn't even bother looking to. Like the drawer. And the best thing of all is that it would be easy to implement for the developers as it doesn't seem to be a lot of work. I'm not a programmer or anything, so I apology if this may sounds something easy to do when it maybe isn't. I just thought it would work like any accessible code you could use for other things already. So thanks for reading and please let me know the pro's and con's about this interesting idea. Also let me know if it would be something hard to implement. And if it does sound like a good thing to do, I hope it gets to the devs so they can add it and I can be happy with my $0.02 And here 2 pictures of this, just because everything is nicer with a pic :D Thanks!

Looks like they are adding this after all! :D
  18. How hello's should be in SA, in my opinion: Random spawn locations, not always in the same place. Always broken when found, should take an amount of effort and work to get one fixed. More realistic controls, maybe Normal difficult from Take on Helicopters. Gotta remember its not a helicopter simulator either, but should be hard enough to fly if you don't know what you're doing. Refueling should take long (like the mod), but not going to mention much about that since who knows how refueling will be in SA. Repairing them would depend a lot on how vehicle parts will be implemented in the game, but specific parts like the Rotor and maybe more should be added. Also carrying big parts like engine, rotos etc. should require you to carry in a vehicle, or maybe not so realistic, but better than the mod. To carry only in your hands and can't sprint with them. Having a bunch of engines in your pockets seem a bit unfair. This would be the "Require teamwork" aspect of having choppers, but if you want to do it alone, you still can, in a harder scale. Fuel should be at airfields like some people mention, but also possible to transport fuel somehow. No point in having a chopper broken down somewhere and no way of getting fuel to it. Amount per server, maybe 2-3, it would be very hard to see all 3 flying around at the same time. Only civilian type helicopters. Like the Little Bird or other small ones you can find in Take on Helicopters. However not too big like Mi17 and none should have any weapons on it. As a hardcore (server) helicopter pilot from DayZ mod I can say that choppers can be a disadvantage for some players, but the work there is behind acquiring one and maintaining it, should balance the advantage of having it. Many people don't even bother with them because they are a lot of work to keep. And by this is finding it, getting it repaired and taking off (if you still haven't got ambushed). Then refueling it when you are low is a task, and keeping it for the next day is a whole other story, this is in the mod. Standalone will also support much more people on the servers. Being a Chopper "hoarder" (as some call me) I have even owned all 5 choppers of the server at one point. But using and hiding just one of them for over 2 days is already worth it. Most people will not go through all the work of obtaining a chopper to keep it only for 2 days. Unless you steal it, which normally ends up blowing up, because they don't know how to fly or don't care and just "YOLO" it. But for Standalone, if you don't like choppers, you shouldn't feel the need of getting one because of the effort. And having them downgrade from guns and skill to fly should not affect the advantage of you having one or not. And the people who do try to get them often, remember they will probably get ambushed at some point, they can only use it as a transport and it has no guns to shoot you. I'm sure there are many things that I am missing or ideas, but having choppers in the game discussion should be similar to having land vehicles in the game. And having acquired a helicopter should also pay for your hard work of getting it running, just like a car would in its own way. They should not affect how you play. Let me know what you think and/or what you would change. Thanks!

My idea on helicopters for Standalone

They wont, choppers will probably be one of the last things to add, but its always good to give suggestions up ahead and I hope they implement them the right way.

My idea on helicopters for Standalone

Many people don't know how to fix a car either..hell people don't even know how to drive them, but you can still do it in the game. Why? Because its a game. And then he respawns right? Sounds like a typical day in DayZ. You stole the words of what I was going to say. My perspective in the thread was as a first person server only player. It is extremely different experience flying in first and third (way more than on foot). So this is a big game breaker in my opinion if its third person. First person flying is nothing the advtantage as in third. A chopper could fly right next to you and easily miss you, so player vs chopper experiences are epic! You wouldn't know until you tried it

My idea on helicopters for Standalone

I agree that would be amazing. The cars that you find in the wreckage on roadblocks, should be repairable, depending on where you find they would be different types of damaged state. The vehicles you mention will be in the game. But I don't think choppers have that much of an advantage as you think. For a helicopter it is a task to land anywhere, there is so much threat for choppers from other players you wont even believe it. Plus you can hear them from a Km away. There are also chopper hunters, they basically track down choppers to take them out. So I don't think having more people on the server at the time will even make it more beneficial to have one. The "Getting snipe killed" feeling in DayZ also happens as helicopter pilots, and we just have more to lose. This is why I love choppers, they are a bit more of a challenge for the game than just camping people. Being a chopper owner gives it kind of an end game style for me. Yeah the removing parts should definitely be in the game, if you find another chopper you should be able to rip it apart. But you also need to find chopper loot in other locations, not just within choppers. Because if anyone just decides to strip a chopper and throw all the parts under a pinetree to hide them and no one ever finding them, would probably never be able to use one because there would be no parts lol. The mod already was like mention though.

    Nerf Knocking Out

Punches will not always knock you out with one blow, it could be random. For example this video you can see how the punches randomly knock out, sometimes 1, sometimes 3-4.

    suggestions on multiple topics

    1. I think the new logging system is amazing. I have always suggested to do it like MMORPG's and they have done it. It is by far the best system in my opinion. Some mods like Origins had this implemented, when you log out, your character would stay in a long animation before actually disappearing and if you saw people in that animation, you knew they logged out and you can access their gear, or kill them. Worked great. In SA they haven't mentioned that you can't move while logging out, I think you will already do the Sit animation while the timer is up, but I'm pretty sure that you will be able to cancel it if you hear shots or something, like the 30 sec timer to log out in the mod before you could click the "Abort" button. And if you get shot or something, well then it wasn't a really safe spot to log out, this has never happened to me with similar logging systems. 2. I hate 3PP, but most of DayZ players play it, its a thing of preference and even though I don't like it, it doesn't affect me. Just play a Hardcore server. No need to take it away from people who like it. 3. I like that idea. I always used to play at night time, so in game was always night. I didn't mind it, we became night watchers, but yeah it would be nice to see the day sometime also, and that math is pretty good. However day/night cycles can probably be controlled by the server, so you would have to suggest it on whichever server you play if it doesn't make a standard. 4. I was just thinking about this yesterday! Its true in a way, however the zooming in represents you squinting your eyes to see better when you look far away, the negative part is you have less field of view, but how I think it may work is to keep the zoom (world is very bog you need it), but give it a timer, for example 10 seconds and then a cool down of 30 or something like that, that way people are not just camping in zoom the whole time. And maybe if you want to keep zooming after 10 seconds you can, but your vision will start blurring slowly to a certain point and then you have to wait a bit more for it to come back, this would be awesome I think. 5. Yeah the sprinting right now is a bit unbalanced, but mainly because the stamina system is not implemented yet. We will probably see this further on. But yeah, you shouldn't be able to sprint forever and it should wear you out a lot, heavy breathing, and make you walk if you push it too long. But make it balanced also for player that are trying to run away of someone chasing them with a gun. It is good to have a fair running advantage if you have no weapon and someone is running behind you with one. 6. Agree completely, however zombies is not something you can judge very much now as they still need lots of work, but we still need more, the mod had a good amount in my opinion, making them dangerous is the other part, not necessarily dangerous because of the amount, thats right. But make them chase you more for noises or if they see you and things like that. Because right now they are way slower than the mod, its easy to run away and you can't hide under pines and things like that for them to not hit you, so I think they are heading in a good direction at least. Ammo should be waaay more rare, and that should be a must. Right now I have to drop ammo because I have more than I would ever shoot, I think magazines should always spawn empty, and bullets should be a different spawn, and they spawn in different numbers, so instead of finding a magazine of 30 bullets, you would have to find a magazine first, and then find piles of bullets from 1 bullets to 30, or limit it to maximum to find 10, and then load them in the magazine, or if you don't have a magazine you would have to load them manually one by one. This would make a humongous change in the gameplay. No more baddies spamming a gun, every bullet should count. 7. They already have a system for server hopping, but teleporting to a different location I don't think is a good idea at all. You should know where you are logging out. Logging in a random location is kind of immersion breaking, and people would probably end up using it for transportation or escaping something. 8. I think they want to add more progression stuff so your character is more worth it. This is a good idea because it would make people yolo less as they would have more to lose than just what they are carrying. But this will probably be further into the development. Well, those are my thoughts, not everyone would agree, but I think its pretty fair.

    Loot-able Objects like the Fridge

I made a very similar suggestion a few months ago, here some pics I had on the idea:
