    Spawn Points

Hey guys, just a quick thought that I hadn't found really anywhere else on here, so sorry if this isn't new! Why does everyone have to spawn on the coast? I think it would be interesting to spawn in other places all around the map as well. Like in some of the cesspool towns that harbor nothing or maybe on the bordering tree lines of chernarus, or maybe even in a hospital or a house/shed somewhere? I think this would mix up the strategy of DayZ quite a bit. There's no more "head straight to cherno/elektro" mentality anymore. It's more of "I need to find some food and water before I can trek my way to find a map or weapon! That, of course, is only if you don't immediately know where you are exactly. Also, I think this would prevent a kind of bottleneck the game presents where characters all spawn/ head to one general area that is easily accessible by bandits and the sort. Storyline wise, it would add more variety to the background of our characters instead of "I somehow survived a boat crash presumably that I have no memory of and now I'm on a beach". Everyone could have their own individual stories, per se. I'd love some feedback on the idea. Anyone else agree?

    Spawn Points

I feel like if a player was given the choice of a difficulty based spawn point, he would be able to obtain certai loot faster, only spawn in specific places, and it would ruin immersion in the sense that you wouldn't just spawn at a random point on chernarus.. Which kind of defeats the purpose. The game is harsh to everyone, including new players, so I don't believe exceptions should be made for anyone honestly. But that's part of what makes DayZ such a challenging and theoretically balanced game. A GOOD game.

    Spawn Points

Are you proposing something? Maybe the players first X spawns would be on the coast or something?

    Spawn Points

Don't get me wrong, I completely agree with you when it comes to the less information, the better. I just thought it would be more interesting to wonder why in woke up in the forest rather than on the shore. Originally this idea came from me thinking about how I never feel that lost anymore when I spawn, and the story bit came sort of as something extra.
  5. I hope this is in the right area for the forums and I also tried looking around for something similar, but to no avail. I just have a quick question~ If in the standalone DayZ we are going to have to reload our magazines with ammunition, does that mean there will be individual bullets in loot piles? And if so, how will the stacking/inventory work with such items? Thanks!

    Loading Magazines?

I get that the whole thing is constantly evolving, I was just curious as to how finding ammo would work, simply because I think finding an entire magazine of stanag rounds would far more different gameplay wise than finding a few bullets here or there. Maybe a combination of the two? But like I said, I was just wondering if anyone had any idea. Thanks for all the input, guys!

    Stripping Vehicles

I love the idea. I was thinking about something along these lines yesterday actually. Maybe you'd have to rap at the part with a crowbar first for a bit, making noise or damaging the part possibly? Also, I believe rocket is planning on implementing this sort of idea for end game content.. For instance, if your door is full of bullet holes, you can steal another door from a car, but the different color would be obvious.

I would like to see more "signs" of the zombie apocalypse.

Sign making is in my blood. Zombies will think they have the upper hand when BAM. Everyone in the vicinity sees my sign. +1 for adding signs

    Different in-game maps

I like the idea! It would be a cool immersion thing and make the exploration feel a lot more interesting, seeing as now in the mod, I can just pick up a map and stop worrying about getting lost on my way to the NWAF. Perhaps there could be some way to maybe combine maps too? That way you won't have to constantly pull up loot maps, then road maps again and again. Just a thought!

    Utes on chernarus standalone

I think it'd be neat if some spawns were there. Eh? Ehh?

I would like to see more "signs" of the zombie apocalypse.

I recommend a sign that says "Zombies here"

    new spawn building...the museum

This is stupid unless I can find dinosaur bones to beat you all with

Late or what? Ps4 and Xbox720

I don't know why you whiney babies are complaining about it possibly moving to consoles. No one is forcing you to buy the console version, and they're not going to kill the PC version even if they do port it. So what's the problem here?

A Legit way to stop hackers.

I don't count on hackers just giving up because its tedious.. It's the Internet. Where there's a glimmer of a will, there's a definite way with these guys. Right? Surely they'll work around it.
  15. I don't necessarily understand your logic, but I'm still disagreeing with you. I personally wouldn't even bother with picking up a box that took up 10 spaces but only offered 6 for storage. Maybe you can explain it a little more clearly?
  16. Why should they take up more inventory space than they provide?

    Camo Nets/Tarpaulin

I like the idea, after some consideration, honestly.. Haha at first I thought "well.. I'm not dying for something like this, and there are other things that need to be implemented much more urgently than this", but I guess I do see it's uses in the game, and it's not game breaking. And it actually seems like something that would be found in such a woodland/military area like Chernarus.

    Bury your stuff

I guess the trade off for that is that tents are, despite being camouflaged, much much easier to spot and everyone can loot it easily?

    Padlocks!

I really like the ideas from Ollox and Miles. Maybe you could use a padlock and chain to lock your car doors? Or even your bicycle? Haha

    Bury your stuff

I like the backpack idea, but I think it would be more balanced to have the stuff you bury maybe disappear after you die.. Just to balance it. Otherwise no one will be early looting after a fresh spawn, they'll just be running to their secret stash.

    Bury your stuff

That would actually be pretty cool.. Let's say you jot down in-game where your loot is hidden, then if you're killed, whoever killed you can then perhaps go on a bit of a treasure hunt?

    Bury your stuff

I don't feel like I'm really adding anything to the thread when I say that this idea is actually a really good one! I've never heard of this idea yet, and it's so simple! Maybe to balance it, you could only have a few mole holes around at one time with enough room for say.. 12 slots or so? And you could have the option to mark it via wooden stake, like mentioned above, or camouflaged with leaves or sheet metal or something.. I also really like the chance to degrade idea as well! I'd really like to see this implemented in the standalone or something.

    Suggestion (suicide)

I wouldn't mind the whole suicide option.. But I agree, it should have some negative effects. Maybe if you die (suicide or not), you dont get another "new" spawn point for 30-60 minutes? Or perhaps you shouldn't be able to spawn in general for that duration? Also, if you commit suicide, you shouldn't spawn with any starter gear or something? Just some ideas.

    1.7.5.1 dayz update?

It's a zombie survival game, and you're complaining about both aspects of that? This isn't GTA.

    Starting over

A friend and I frequently play together as "heroes" generally... We gear together, find vehicles and repair them, kill bandits every so often, yadda yadda.. But our quests always seem to end soon after finding our helicopter. We will fly around Chernarus after fixing up the helo, giving new spawns rides to NWAF, NEAF, Stary Sobor, etc.. Anywhere really, acting as a taxi for people. It's actually good fun helping people. We like taking the risk of playing with complete strangers, and some people actually turn out to be pretty friendly. However, sooner or later, some tragic event unfolds and we lose the helicopter, one of us dies or we lose a bunch of gear, and it leaves us sort of "half the men we were", so to speak. So in the end, we decide instead of just finding maybe a gun and a ghillie suit along with a car to be right where we were at, we're going to just jump in a crowd of zombies or jump off of the firestation roof, spawning new characters and have the fun of building up anew. A lot of people hate the whole looting process up until you get your end game loot, but I actually kind of enjoy it. It feels nice to start fresh, taking things slow, and not excessively worrying about "Who is going to steal my UAZ this time".
