How populated is Green Mountain?

Green mountain has a very large tower that is a useful landmark, and even a few non-enterable buildings, and a ladder to one floor of the tower however there is a section of the tower that isn't enterable. -

I agree its not a PVE monster hunter game. dayz is a zombie apoc survival anti-game(since there are no rules). I'm not saying force people to be friendly but there should be tools in-game to help encourge players who pick that playstyle to be able to enjoy it. edit: by tools I mean better grouping mechanics, or even mechanics to remember players you have meet before in that life. -

O.o I was just saying that is a damn shame that everything is considered a hostile action and thus makes you a threat. Never once did I say I want other players to play the same way as me. This has been discussed before that even players who wont kill you on sight, view even some non-hostile actions as hostile threats. Like being within VOIP range. edit: also please don't attack me for being a supporter of non-KOS playstyles, as I am not attacking your support of them but merely pointing out my POV on the topic. -

Your right, there is no way to force players to not have greed. However there it is possible to make players think about if they really should kill the player. Make players more hesitant to shoot on sight. Now have your ever heard the term "ESCALATION OF FORCE"? Well I think it can work great in dayz, however almost everything you can do is viewed as a hostile action, even cooking meat. Which is a real god damn shame. -

Green mountain is usually empty from my experience, Now will I say it is generally safe? NO, I would not because I don't have a large enough data pool to make that call. -

I have no issue with your predictions about the stats, however I do find it odd that even with the stats, most players I try to interact with trys to kill me. -

well because before dayz, a majority of arma 2's mp was cooperative, and as well arma 2 has a lot of trust in the client side since hacking was never really a over the top issue. -
No, only a mechinic so rocket and co. can collect data so they can write algorithm to notice certain patterns of data known to be similar to those of alt-f4ers and server hoppers.

I am only disagreeing with the community's quick and harsh way to fix an issue without thinking of ways to minimize collateral damage.

How do I know I'm not in combat? Because neither of these two meanings are being met: 1. to fight or contend against; oppose vigorously: to combatcrime. 2. to battle; contend: to combat with disease. Now you also didn't debunk my issue about how it will be abused as a "Kill me now" timer, and even further discourage random groups. This alone is enough reason to try and find a better solution that doesn't affect what happens in groups in-game as it should only be addressing the issue of players combat D/Cing.

sure but it wouldn't solve the issue of alt-f4 or other ways to force close a connection with the server to get out of combat or de-aggro.

Notice how I stated that if your in-combat(both by players and zombies) its fine because your trying to abuse a game mechanic to get out of combat , however if your already out of combat, than a instant d/c should be fine and dandy. edit: Also notice how I pointed out how it would basically ruin random grouping because, disconnecting before them could mean your dead, because now they have a chance to kill you without you doing anything or knowing that they killed you, till you get back on. So really a log out timer only helps out player killing and not the underlining issue that players are abusing game mechanics to get out of combat or de-aggro.zombies.

so just chilling 20 seconds not doing anything and not being able to do anything is the correct answer. I mean why if I wait 5 mins not getting shot or aggro, and not shooting anything my self, should I wait 20 seconds where I am completely defenseless? Now I'm all for doing the timer, if the person disconnected is aggrod or being shot at. I feel that if players are able to secure an area and be safe for an x amount of time, they shouldn't have to wait to leave and while doing so are completely defenseless. I see it also being abused by backstabbers who will just wait while you are out of the server but your player is still there and just kills you. which would further make random groups less likely to happen.(which I see as a bad thing)

Well I mean what tools do we really have to rebuild the world or even set up trading posts or what tools are in-game to help trading?

I don't hide bodies when its a lone bandit, whom attacks us, However if its a enjoyable back and forth engagement, I leave the gear for the guys to get most of their gear back.

I would like to see that debug info coming back.

I think that would be a much better way to set up fortifications as with the current system it can be hit or miss if you set up the bags or c-wire correctly.
