I'd like it if differently colored clothing could be torn into appropriately colored rags, which you could then wear on your arm, allowing your squad a quick and easy (if imperfect) method for friend/foe identification
-
I'm pretty sure that you need the beta, but i just checked in Steam and it's only like 38 megs, so it shouldn't be an issue

I pray that someday, the clothing system in DayZ will be expansive enough to allow me to replicate that second guy's wardrobe

I can't speak for him, but here's what I've been biting my lip at: J/k, love you guys :P

If you had the opportunity to add one pistol

Just remember to shoot them after you've handcuffed them -
Very basic questions from someone both new to arma2 and dayz
other_barry replied to Þolveremorta's topic in New Player Discussion
Not quite - there's a single public official "hive", which all non-private vanilla servers connect to. This public hive tracks a single character, his position, equipment etc, across all of the public hive servers. Now things like vehicles or tents that you build are tied to that specific server, but anything you can carry can be moved from server to server on the public hive. Private hives run their own set of data, so they're their own little world, where everything you collect while playing there exists is only on that server. Private hives can also enforce various rules like no PvP or make extensive modifications to the gameplay experience that public hive servers aren't allowed to do. All of the various and sundry "mods of the mod" you can see in DayZ Commander's "Install/Update" window also run on private servers To find only servers connected to the official public hive, click "Hide unofficial" in Commander's server filter edit: arrgh ninja'ed by hours :( that'll teach me to open a thread, play DayZ for awhile and then reply without refresh -
Any Epoch/Dayzero Players Need An Experienced Pilot? Saul Can Help.

Sorry I wasn't clear, I certainly wasn't suggesting that a mod delete your post. What I had said somehow got double-posted, so I edited the second post to ask for deletion -

Edit: Holy double post, Batman! Don't know how that happened, but I would invite a mod to please delete this utterly superfluous post -

I think you missed an opportunity by not including the phrase "Better call Saul!" in your title :P -
So if my character is currently infected (which he is :( ), will I immediately be considered "fully infected" under the new system?

Wats Ur Favorite Town In Dayz To Loot
other_barry replied to Lehfeels's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I like the peace and quiet that comes with Berezino, since it has everything I need: two supermarkets, an industrial district, a hospital and minor military loot, with slightly more substantial military loot available just a short jog north at NEAF. I wonder if Berezino's inclusion in the next update's "select your spawn" system is going to make it more active, fresh spawns running all over the place -
All you need to do with DayZ Commander is click the "Install/update" button up on the top and tell it to download the latest version of ARMA 2 OA Beta and the standard DayZ mod, which should be up at the top of the list - no need to worry about all the other mod variants just now

I've been fond of Kronzky's Moveable Target Range, since it gives you a walking target you can practice shooting at a distance of your choice http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?81156-Moveable-Target-Range Make sure to run it in OA so you have access to all the weapons

so, dayz is infact mainly pve, not pvp as i thought.
other_barry replied to Johnny Trigger's topic in New Player Discussion
The beginning is more PvE as you work your way up from your humble beginnings, then the PvP comes as you gear up to a level where you can engage people with a good chance of success. "Several hours" of play is really just dipping your toe into the game, learning where to loot and how to avoid zombies. After several more you should have the water canteens, hunting supplies and familiarity with the world to sustain yourself, then you'll be ready to start gearing up for PvP, establishing tents and working on vehicles as you see fit The best advice I can give is, if you haven't already, familiarize yourself with the map at www.dayzdb.com/map. There you can learn which buildings will give you loot, what kinds of loot to expect, and how to get around the huge map. Probably the best way to get a decent weapon without encountering other people at the "hot" military loot sites is to go deer-stand hopping around the map. What makes this game's PvP so intense is that it can break out when you least expect it, and every fight puts your hard-earned gear on the line -
I'd recommend DayZ Commander since it has a good server browser and makes it easy to download/update the various and sundry DayZ maps and variant mods people have put out (Origins, 2017, Namalsk etc) Play withSix is good for exploring the wider world of ArmA II mods, but for just DayZ stuff, stick with the commander (Incidentally, both of these are the "original" methods, as Steam only started supporting the mod a few months ago ;) )
