Any groups want to take on a new player?
Target Practice (DayZ) replied to Jeffaira (DayZ)'s topic in Clan / Group Recruitment
Hey there buddy, perhaps we've got what you're looking for? Our 'recruitment' thread with our sales pitch is here, but I'll give you the quick version here. We're not a clan, and we don't take ourselves seriously. We're just a bunch of folks who like to play DayZ with others of a similar mindset. We're mostly aged in our 20s (20-28 is the current age range) and based in the UK/EU with the exception of our one US guy. There's no tryout, no obligation, and screwing up isn't just tolerated, it's pretty much expected. :P If you're interested, give me a shout and we can have a chat! :) -
Ahoy! Looking for a mature, laid-back group of people to play with?
Target Practice (DayZ) posted a topic in Clan / Group Recruitment
Are you: 20+ English-speaking (doesn't have to be your first language, just as long as we can communicate, that's fine!) In possession of a working microphone Based somewhere that will get a playable ping to UK/EU servers? (we have at least one US player, so they're fine) Looking for a ragtag bunch of idiots to wander round Chernarus and get shot at with? Then look no further! What we're about: Okay, so let's get this out of the way first and foremost. We're not a clan. We don't have a website or rules or a probation period or anything like that. We're simply a bunch of gamers who like to play DayZ with people who know that they're playing a game and that it's not to be taken too seriously (honestly, if we got mad every time Chris smashed our car into a tree or Hayley broke someone's legs, we'd all have ragequit ages ago! :P) We have a TeamSpeak that we use when we're in-game, just because it makes things easier. We generally all play survivor as far as I know, with opinions on banditry ranging from Hayley's "No, not now, not ever and if you do it near me, I'll shoot you in the backside" to my "I have no moral objections to it, and am happy to play bandit on private hives". Age-wise, we're spread around the 20s - I believe our youngest member is 20, and our joint-oldest are 28 - we don't really mind how old you are, but we would prefer to keep things 20+ - we tried a couple of younger players, and it didn't really work out. Let's put it this way - if you don't act like an idiot, then we're not going to demand to see your ID. ;) What we want from you: Nothing! As long as you don't act like an ass when we're playing with you, we don't care how often, when or where you play. Sometimes in the evening we decide that we're all DayZ-ed out for the day so we might play a little bit of Wasteland if that's your thing - don't fancy that? That's cool, keep on playing and we'll meet up when we log back in. If we decide we want to head to Stary to pick up some loot and you're all set and would rather head on up to the Northwest Air Field, go do it - we're not a squad, we don't have a 'leader' or any crap like that - we're just regular gamers who want to play DayZ with a few friendly faces to give us blood transfusions when we fall over trying to walk across some small rocks. Getting in touch: Steam is probably the best way - all of us are on there, and it's the easiest way to keep track of people and see when they're online. At some point, I may even create an invite-only Steam Group so we can all stay in touch without having to make sure that everyone has everyone else on their friends list. Either way, that's the best way to get in touch, my username is Jason051984 - feel free to add me and we can have a chat. :) If you don't have Steam, throw me a private message on here, or just reply to the thread. Simples. -

Let's get this back up to the top of the page. Always looking for new folk. :) -
Perhaps rather than criticising us for misunderstanding you, next time it would be better to make your initial point a little clearer. :)

Tired of KoS? Do something about it!
Target Practice (DayZ) replied to plrsniper's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You see, what you're trying to do here is morph DayZ into a game that suits your preferred style of play. You're getting bored randomly killing players who won't/can't retaliate in-game, so you're trying to find ways of giving yourself a challenge by encouraging players you've killed to send other, better-armed players after you. It's a short-term solution and it simply won't work, because in-game you're viewed as a nuisance rather than someone who adds flavour to the game world, and the best solution to stop that nuisance is to starve it of interaction until it gets bored and goes elsewhere. To be honest, I'm not convinced DayZ is a game that's meant for the way you're playing it. Yes, it can be done that way, but ultimately the player base isn't as interested in PvP as you are, and you're finding that out the hard way. -
First point - unless you can give me an example of a real-life situation where bullets fired from someone on the same side aren't equally as deadly as those fired from a hostile, then I can see absolutely NO reason whatsoever why this could/would/should be introduced. Part of being an effective team is knowing where your teammates are and not shooting them. If you're unable to use a weapon without hitting your friends, you need to work on your aim. ;) Secondly, I believe the 'walking through walls' issue is expected to be fixed in the standalone, but the nature of the mod means it's not really easily fixable until then. Just one of those things we'll have to live with until then. :)

Target Practice (DayZ) replied to plrsniper's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
UTTERLY disagree with this - the only way to solve the KoS problem is to KoS and therefore creating more KoS players? Doesn't make much sense to me. I understand what you're trying to say, but you seem to think that most people are KoSing for shits and giggles, whereas in many cases people are simply shooting first because they're tired of everyone they meet shooting them, making it a vicious circle. The only way KoS from non-bandit players can really be addressed is through communication and selectively giving the benefit of the doubt. Sure, you'll get shot sometimes, but the more people that are willing to consider than maybe not everyone out there is hell-bent on shooting them, the better the situation gets. -
How would you solve that situation?

That's why you make sure it's a trusted member of the forum. ;) I think there's a 'request-a-medic' thread in the survivor HQ forum, I imagine that would be a fairly good place to start. ;) -
Hello i need a guy who can tell me why i got this problem.

It's quite possible that your graphics card may not be up to the task of running the game. The other option MAY be overheating if it's running fine for the first few minutes then slowing down considerably, but generally, the intel graphics chipsets are not up to the task of serious gaming. -

Things I am no longer allowed to do in DayZ

Rounded out the list to 100 items! Let me know which ones are your favourites - as previously mentioned, I'm toying with the idea of making a few of these into youtube clips. :) -
can we please stop donations for gear servers !
Target Practice (DayZ) replied to dgeesio's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Don't understand the fuss - if I don't like a server's policy, I don't play there. If people want to play on it, that's their call, but as long as I'm not forced to, I don't care. Like Box pointed out, it keeps the idiots off the servers I like to play on. -
You need to contact BattleEye. There's nothing we can do for you here. Google should help.

Anyone found a machete yet?
Target Practice (DayZ) replied to elf cakes's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Must have hit eight or nine Deer Stands last night, didn't find a single one. Ditto when searching four or five supermarkets today. Loads of barns too. -
Nice, reasonable sensible idea with a practical use. Have some beans.

I was discussing this with my buddy last night and we did actually say we should record me doing some of this stuff and upload it to youtube. :D -
Dear dev team and mod team, I apologize for what this community has done to you.
Target Practice (DayZ) replied to berserkuh's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I think you're mistaking your issue (which I've not really noticed) with the issue a very very vocal minority have, which is that they feel the new designs of the cans are breaking their immersion of the game and that they don't like them. Whilst it's not a viewpoint I really agree with, they're entitled to their opinions and to discuss them on here. However, as is always the case on the internet, a few overexcitable idiots have blown things way, way out of proportion, and I think the feeling in this thread is that we do not want the staff/devs to think that the debate is about them receiving recognition for their hard work - it's not. -
Whilst you may be right re: food cans not being the best way of doing it, I certainly don't think it's an issue of the level it's somehow been magnified to. I know that as a breed, we gamers tend to be pretty good at making mountains out of molehills, but this really does seem to be something else entirely. I do quite like the 'billboards' idea, and maybe longer term that's an idea worth exploring, but I do worry that making the decision to pull a minor feature within 24 hours of the patch landing (a time period which is notoriously, notoriously bad for crybabies and the 'OMFG RUINED FOREVER' crowd) is perhaps a little hasty. I don't see why there would have been a problem with waiting a week or so for people to calm down, and the stupider, more extreme posters that don't add anything to the discussion than to fling insults to go away, THEN have this discussion and make an informed decision, as there's obviously a few valid points on both sides.
-
Ordinarily, I'd agree with you, but in that particular instance, the rest of the book wasn't really all that hot either. Anyway, let's not derail an otherwise useful thread.

New gear in 1.7.6
Target Practice (DayZ) replied to gamerman001's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
There is indeed a machete in there somewhere. Only found razors so far, though. -
I really don't understand the level of fuss this has caused. I played last night and happened to stumble across a tin of muffins. I didn't even NOTICE they were Herpy Doove's brand, I was just pleased to see new items, no matter how minor they are. Having skim-read this thread (sorry, I would have read the entire thing, but I was worried it might have given me an aneurysm), I can understand the position of some of the anti-cans folks - I can see that it has the potential to break immersion if the player is someone who is not overly good at suspending their sense of disbelief. On the same note, I see no problem whatsoever with a subtle nod to the folks who make and keep this forum and community what it is, a generally friendly and pleasant place to hang around, and a pretty good source of discussion and debate. Perhaps I'm missing a point somewhere, but would the perfect middle ground not just be to keep the models and just scale back some of the more obviously immersion-breaking names/descriptions? To me, that seems to be a solution that both sides would find acceptable.
