Things I am no longer allowed to do in DayZ
Target Practice (DayZ) replied to Target Practice (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Working on it - unfortunately, work has kicked my ass this week, meaning my search for a server was shuffled to the back of the pile somewhat. I'm hoping to rectify that over the next few days. Of course, then I have to learn how to actually edit video, which should be fun... :P -
[Android] DayZ Central v2.27 - All-in-one App [Database, HD Chernarus map with Loot and Tables, Waypoints, Guides, and more!]
Target Practice (DayZ) replied to skunkfu's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Cool. I downloaded this a few weeks ago, and it's handy to have next to the keyboard when navigating - great work so far, and it's appreciated! How are the personalised markers coming along? That's the one that I'm really looking forward to. :) -
Bullet wounds are horribly unrealistic
Target Practice (DayZ) replied to Ozelot (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
There's a middle ground here. The current system perhaps trivialises bullet wounds somewhat (bandage, done.), but a fully realistic simulation wouldn't be fun. Bullet wounds should be a serious problem that needs attention, but they shouldn't be automatic death sentences for anyone who doesn't carry a whole hospital's worth of medical supplies on their person. -

Way ahead of you on that one, buddy. That was the first thing I suggested when talking to a friend about this. Short, sweet, silly. -
Armor/Planes/Mortars/HMG for standalone
Target Practice (DayZ) replied to scoffield77@gmail.com's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Sorry, but there needs to be a cutoff somewhere, and what you're suggesting is the wrong side of the line for the majority of folks (as evidenced by this thread). At the risk of speaking for others, it seems that folks don't want the survival/military battle sim you're proposing - they want a survival game. In all honesty, I can count on one hand the number of times I've seen battles where both sides have more than 2 people, so I don't really see too many opportunities where battles would be large enough to even facilitate the situation your idea is catering for. Perhaps Wasteland would be more your thing if you're looking for a military sim with survival elements. Edit: my apologies, your above post clarifies your position somewhat, and I'm on my phone, so detailed editing is a pain. Just take my above post with a dash of salt. :) -
Armor/Planes/Mortars/HMG for standalone
Target Practice (DayZ) replied to scoffield77@gmail.com's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I think the point is that this game is not about 'turning the tide of battle' in the way you might do in ARMA. Yes, there is PvP, and it's a part of the game, but for realistic simulations of battle... Just play ARMA. I think that's the point people are trying to make. -
ARMA 2 Discount on Steam until 12th of March!
Target Practice (DayZ) replied to OnkelGunther's topic in New Player Discussion
There was no hate involved, I have no idea why you're so defensive. I was simply pointing out that there's a lesson to be learned from this, both for you personally, and for others reading it. My manners are just fine, I don't see where I was rude at all. In fact, there are those that might consider calling an entire community 'hateful' for simply informing you of the facts a little on the rude side. Anyway, I have no wish to drag this on. Good luck with your twelve dollars. -

Bottom line: do research before just clicking 'buy', and don't blame the developers if you don't and end up paying more than you needed to. The idea of 'bundles', where you can buy multiple separate items for a single price that's usually lower than their total separate cost has been around pretty much forever... I don't understand why it appears to be news to you. -

Garbled sound distorted video then crash
Target Practice (DayZ) replied to malin's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Am I understanding correctly that you're running two monitors on your 6870? If that's the case, have you tried just running off the single monitor? Also, have you tried removing the overclock on your CPU? Would certainly be one of the first places I looked if I was having unexplainable crashes. Failing that, I'd likely agree that it might be that your 6870 is poorly. -
DayZ: Origins (RELEASED)
Target Practice (DayZ) replied to spaggiari's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Generally, I like the mod, but the available servers tend to be very laggy, with zombies taking up to two seconds to drop from headshots. Not made it as far as Salvation City yet, but working on it. -

RE: community suggestions - I'm all for the idea, I'm sure there are far funnier and more creatively insane people than me out there, but I'd like to figure out a way of keeping the 'official' list and the community suggestions separate first - the main reason for that being that if I do ever get round to turning this into a youtube series, I don't want to be in that murky moral ground of presenting others' ideas as part of my own work (and the issue of potentially profiting from them) - it's not something I'd feel comfortable doing, even accidentally. Perhaps one solution might be to close this thread and re-open another one where I can reserve the first few posts in order to keep the lists separate. I'll swing a moderator a message about this a bit later and ask if this would be possible. Also, I got to 100 beans for the thread! Thank you for the appreciation! :) -
Always killed when sneaking to NWAF

There's nothing in here that any halfway competent bandit wouldn't know anyway, to be honest. -
Always killed when sneaking to NWAF
Target Practice (DayZ) replied to frosti's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
In response to your above post, Frosti, I've actually been shot at more times in the forests around the NWAF than I have the airfield itself. It seems that bandits/pvpers who don't have long-range weaponry use that location as an alternative. -

Target Practice (DayZ) replied to frosti's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I've found that in places where you're almost guaranteed to come across hostiles (Cherno, Elektro, Stary, NWAF), moving quickly is generally safer than taking your time. The longer you're in an area like that, the more likely you are to be spotted. You still need to take a certain amount of care (sticking to walls, watching treelines, moving from cover to cover), so don't just charge straight down the middle of the airstrip, but where possible, get in and out as quickly as possible. -
Killed by a rock
Target Practice (DayZ) replied to Pokerguy12's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
One cheap death and you ragequit one of the most promising mods/games of this generation? Okay guy. On your way then. We'll be over here having fun in a giant sandbox and laughing at the crazy bugs that pop up every now and then. -
A) Don't hack and try to blame it on your friend. B ) Find better friends. C) There's nothing we can do for you here. These are the forums for DayZ. The problem is with your ARMA OA key. Pretty much your only option is to buy the game again and format your HDD before installing. That's pretty much karma for hacking.

Things I am no longer allowed to do in DayZ
Target Practice (DayZ) replied to Target Practice (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yeah, I'm trying to work out the logistics behind making a series of youtube clips/vids out of this. The main issue is that a lot of the stuff is pretty hard to come by 'naturally' in DayZ - helicopters are hard enough to find that it could take a week or more just to find one and get it flyable, and even then we'd be entirely reliant on getting it PERFECT in the first take if I'm supposed to crash or something. To that end, it'll likely be easier if I can find a dirt-cheap server host that I can just password protect and use to spawn helicopters and things on. -
Remove the PAPI lights from the NWAF
Target Practice (DayZ) replied to willey.erd@oundleschool.org.uk's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Just a thought (not saying I disagree with the OP, by the way), but would a military airfield not have some kind of UPS system for system-critical stuff (which I would assume PAPI lights are)? Of course, there would be a limited lifespan issue, but just offering an alternative thought. -
how old is your survivor?
Target Practice (DayZ) replied to RayPugh's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I disagree. I play for a couple of hours a day most days, and dying is an exceptionally rare thing for me, and it's usually because I've decided to take a risk of some description. A cautious player who's going out of their way to avoid any kind of contact with others, could easily rack this up - once you've got a good weapon and backpack, you can pretty much survive indefinitely without ever having to go near a danger hotspot like Stary Sobor, Elektro or the NWAF. As for hackers, perhaps I've been lucky, but they don't seem as prevalent on EU servers - as long as you're careful where you play and you keep your eyes open for signs that there might be one around, there's certainly no guarantee you'll be killed by one. -

Take away the wording of where you are on the map upon login/spawn!
Target Practice (DayZ) replied to jaytmuk (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
So that's why the title of the thread says login/spawn? ;) ...when did I say anything about seeing yourself on the map? I was talking about reading your map and actually working out where you are. -
Take away the wording of where you are on the map upon login/spawn!
Target Practice (DayZ) replied to jaytmuk (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I don't really see what this would achieve - it could easily be worked around by just writing down your approximate position before logoff, or simply by being able to read a map, which all but the newbiest of newbies should be able to do. If you're playing on hardcore mode, then you should probably be able to read a map. :P It wouldn't really hurt any though, I guess - you could make it a server-switchable thing where individual hives can decide whether they want to do it or not. -
