    Medicine chests

Not a bad shout, to be fair. I think most houses have a 'first aid cupboard' or similar, even if it's just band-aids, bandages and disinfectant wipes.

Proposed name for an as yet unnamed town in the far NW...

I'm not sure you get the point I'm driving at here. I could call it 'enormous donkey wing-wong' and translate it into Russian and it would look and sound Russian, but as soon as you translated it (which pretty much anyone who doesn't read Cyrillic would have to do), it's still going to be 'enormous donkey wing-wong'. A majority of people generally aren't going to be looking at/reading/speaking the name of the town in Russian, they're going to be using the translated name - when you've got 'Chernogorsk', 'Msta', 'Elektrozavodsk', 'Vybor' and so on, 'Oddington' is going to look distinctly out of place. EDIT: Let's not forget that we're also dealing with a playerbase that cried their eyes out when the mod added some new skins for the food items that gave subtle shout-outs to the moderating teams here and on reddit. If you're going to change/add something so that it's a shout-out to something outside DayZ, you'd better make it a good one, because apparently, there's a small but vocal proportion of the audience that hate it.

Oddington doesn't sound particularly 'Chernarus'. :p I'd think something more along the lines of 'Oddvask' or 'Odersk' would be be more fitting whilst also giving the finder a nod.

    Fix the loot.

Although really, better advice for Berezino would be 'go West', as there's a lot more to the West than the North. :p

    What does this sign say?

'Danger, Minefield' :p (it doesn't actually say that)

    Most friendly people ever

You can say whatever you like, but if I happen to be passing through Elektro and spot a guy with a gun lurking near a vantage point, I'm going to go with the odds and assume he's not there for my benefit and act accordingly. I can guarantee you that a lot of other players will do the same. You can't have it both ways. You can't choose to play in the biggest PvP hotspot on the map 'because you like the action' and then come on here crying your eyes out when you get shot/betrayed. That comes with the territory you chose to play in, and the onus to watch your back and make sure that anyone you DO turn your back on is trustworthy is yours and yours alone. Every single decision you made leading up to the moment where you got shot played a part in the outcome. At any point you had the chance to do things differently, to play it safer, but you didn't. Death is a part of DayZ, and I really hope you don't make one of these threads every time you die, because judging by the way you play, you'd be creating a lot of threads.

    Most friendly people ever

You realise that there are towns that AREN'T Elektro, right? There's a whole great big map out there. There are plenty of places you could be 'not dying', but for some reason you just so happened to be laying on a roof in Elektro, huh? ;)

    Most friendly people ever

In this thread: OP makes mistake by trusting someone he just met. Gets killed for that mistake. Takes it out on everyone else he'll ever meet, regardless of whether they had anything to do with it or not. To continue the Yoda theme: Sense. Make it you do not.

    Riot shields and improv shields

Oh yeah, I don't think anyone's disputing that they'd be useful against handguns etc, but the example given was a sniper rifle. I'm willing to be proved wrong, but I'd be pretty surprised if they're developing Riot Shields that are resistant to 7.62 rounds. :D
  10. Target Practice (DayZ)

    Riot shields and improv shields

Yeah, thinking about it and the example you used, I'd be tremendously surprised if one of those stopped anything more than a 9mm round. A sniper round would blast straight through this, then straight through you, and probably anyone unfortunate enough to be behind you as well.

Sun is Blue now - is this Cryis 3 or what?

It's blue to reflect the sadness he feels deep inside every time someone creates a thread on here addressing him personally.
  12. Target Practice (DayZ)

    Riot shields and improv shields

In B4 'OMFG DIS IZ NOT CALL OF DUTY FAG'. Meh, I'm indifferent to this. I can't see it hurting to be in there, but I also can't see very many situations where it would be even remotely useful.

Why does no one use the text chat in game?

As far as I know (unless they added it in a recent build), there is no 'side chat' in standalone. That would be why you don't see it. :P

We whined, cried and bitched, now lets move on

I admire your optimism, sir. Not for the future of DayZ, but for the attitude of the community. Have some beans.

    So I combat logged XD

Yay, another contrarian troll. How original.
  16. Target Practice (DayZ)

NWAF - You lied to me

You've picked two words out of a whole post there to form the basis for this (once again, entirely imaginary) argument that you seem to think I'm making, no matter how many times I tell you that I agree with you that any player can be 'skilled', regardless of their playstyle. As I said already, there's a lot more to being a 'skilled' player than just being able to shoot straight, but there's no reason a KoS player can't have skills besides a good aim. And who on earth said that the word 'gain' had to be strictly material gain such as gear? Once again, that's an assumption you've made, but are dumping it at my feet as fuel for your own argument. These assumptions are yours, not mine! 'Gain' in this situation could mean holding fire now to gain a better chance of a kill once the target is a little closer, making the shot easier and/or saving on ammo. It could mean gaining a chance to flank the target and catch them unawares from behind. There are thousands of situations where holding your fire rather than shooting instantly could lead to gains for a KoS player. Now, are there any more imaginary arguments you'd like me to dispel? :p

NWAF - You lied to me

Will you please stop talking like I've claimed in this thread that KoS players are somehow less 'skilled' than regular players? That's something you've cooked up yourself. You read my post, put two and two together, made a couple of assumptions, and came up with six, and now you're arguing against a point that I never even made! I'm not making any comment about KoS and skill levels here at all - my point is simply that a good player, be they bandit, hero or KoSer will not simply start mashing the left mouse button the very second they see another player, no matter what they intend to do to that player. Our hypothetical KoS player lurking in the forest around NWAF could well have seen OP, but decided to hold fire because he was a long way away and didn't want to risk losing the kill. He could have been there but known that there was also a couple of other KoS players lurking, and didn't want to risk revealing his position first. There's any number of reasons why a smart KoS player would hold their fire until a better opportunity came along.
  18. Target Practice (DayZ)

    So I combat logged XD

You suck. Sorry, but you do. Combat loggers suck, and you combat logged. You weren't careful enough, you got spotted and outmanoeuvred, but instead of paying the price for that and learning from the experience, you took the cowardly way out and quit. If everyone played the way you do, DayZ would be unplayable, and the game would be dead in the water.
  19. Target Practice (DayZ)

NWAF - You lied to me

I'm not sure how you extrapolated that from what I said, because I didn't imply anything of the sort. If you read my post carefully, I make a point of saying 'experienced survivors'. Sure, there are plenty of talented shooters out there, and I dare say there are quite a few skilled DayZ players who have a KoS mentality. I'd perhaps also point out that just because you play KoS doesn't mean that you HAVE to blast away at every single player you see, even if you don't have the faintest chance of hitting them. Like I said before, part of being a skilled player also means making good calls on when not to engage - that's no different for KoS players.

    Haha, good point. :p

NWAF - You lied to me

Right, I'm going to introduce a concept to you now - it's called 'not automatically opening fire on every single person you see'. Now, I understand that sounds strange and alien to you, but in fact, many experienced survivors play this way, particularly in high-value areas, because they don't want to alert others to their presence, or perhaps because there is simply no benefit to them getting into a gunfight at that particular time. By definition, a skilled player in DayZ is probably not going to go blundering up the middle of the main road towards NWAF shooting their gun every couple of hundred metres. They're probably going to spend a while scouting out their route, making sure it's clear, then moving, then repeating the process. Those are the skilled players - the ones who are smart and savvy enough to know which fights to pick and whether there's anything to gain from it. Any idiot can pick up a Mosin and shoot at anything that moves. It doesn't matter if you're in Elektro or hidden in a bush up by Pobeda Dam, being able to shoot straight is a tiny, tiny part of what makes a skilled and experienced survivor player. It's equally about careful route selection, good movement, and being able to make a call on when not to engage.
  22. Target Practice (DayZ)

NWAF - You lied to me

I would perhaps argue that you passed quite a few skilled and experienced players. You just never saw them. That's why they're skilled and experienced. ;)
  23. Target Practice (DayZ)

    Remove Human AI

Ummm... Yeah, I don't know how to tell you this, but there's no AI in DayZ. There never has been, apart from some of the spin-off mods of the mod. Nor are there any plans (that we know of) to add any, as Rocket has been very vocal about his desire for all experiences to be player-created. So, yeah. Not sure where this came from, to be honest.
  24. Target Practice (DayZ)

what should i do? My fiend is evil

Simple, you alternate playstyles. You don't like playing KoS, but have played along, so it's only fair if he agrees to playing along with a non-KoS playstyle from time to time. A gaming partnership is about give and take - you can't just spend all your time doing the stuff he wants to do without ever doing the stuff you want to do. If he won't even agree to that, he sounds like a pretty shitty friend to me.
