Servers not showing and waiting for host

http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/forum-76/announcement-8-important-announcement-servers-not-showing-and-waiting-for-host/ It's at the top of nearly every page. ;)

    blood type is pretty stupid

So basically 'it made my personal choice of playstyle harder than it used to be, so it's stupid'? Is that the point you're getting at? You said it yourself - part of the reason it's in there is to force the KoS players to think about what they're doing rather than just charging in and wasting everyone they see. There's handcuffs in-game - you can always kidnap someone at gunpoint, cuff 'em and lead them somewhere quiet to drain their precious blood. After that, it's up to you what you do with them.

Veteran Player's Feedback (18 Hours Deep)

Try a different town. There's plenty of them. If a supermarket is empty, it's because someone's emptied it.

Agree with most of what you've said here. Ironic now that the Kamenka spawn is arguably the best one to get. :p

How to change a KOS'er mentality?

You're asking the wrong question. It's not yours, mine or anyone else's duty or role to change someone's mentality towards others in a game. That's something that you'd need a psychologist and a lot of time for. Kill on sight gameplay has a role to play in the DayZ universe. It absolutely does - if you knew for sure that no player would ever shoot you without provocation, 50% of the fun would be sucked out of the game instantly. The issue is that in the mod there was simply too much of it - it was too easy a tactic to use, and it was too effective. I had a chat with R4Z0R about it in teamspeak one day, and he made a very good point - 'No matter what you do, some people are going to want to play the game their way - if you took all the weapons out of the SA, people would be running round Elektro in their pants punching each other'. It's simply human nature - if you put 50 players in a room with nothing but a waffle iron, I'd give it about five minutes before someone dies of suspicious waffle-related injuries.

    Steam players beta patch access

Yeah, someone needs to tweak the forum permissions there, I think. :P

    Not having any fun !!

It's easy enough to find out where you are on the map. It's not hard to find the name of the town you spawn in (it's on the signs leading in and out of the town) - they're in Russian, but with a little practice and logical thinking you'll be able to tell which town is which, then look for a prominent feature that's on the map. My first method of choice is usually railway tracks/stations, but power lines and even specific road junctions all work too. From there, you can tell where you are, and everything from that point on is relative. If you get lost again, just repeat the process. :) That's the thing about DayZ - it doesn't hold your hand, but if you're willing to learn and develop new skills, it's a fantastic experience, because nothing out there does that - throws you in a harsh, open world with nothing but the clothes on your back and says: 'Right. There you go, now survive.' That's what makes it great. But that's part of the experience. EVERY SINGLE PLAYER who came into DayZ without a group of players helping them was where you are right now - they died a whole bunch of times to stupid stuff that seems ridiculous now, but every time you die, you learn something - whether it's that you can't really hope to fist-fight a zombie without getting a few nasty infectious scratches, or that the areas where you're spawning are also spawning a lot of other players and that loot's going to be hard to find in those areas. With time you get wiser and more experienced, and every time you live a little bit longer and learn a few new tricks. No-one expects you to be surviving days on end, particularly in the Standalone, where there are a hatful of bugs right now. Thirst and Hunger and stuff seem to be pretty broken right now, so don't sweat that stuff - it'll be fixed in the near future. Just do your best, and don't get bent out of shape when things go wrong - if you've got questions or problems - that's what we're here for on the forums! :)

    DayZ Hacks already happening

I think there's now enough anecdotal evidence going round to indicate that hacks exist, but I do believe the severity of the issue is being rather overstated given the very early state of the game.
  9. Good suggestion, if it's not already planned, it's well worth considering, particularly as you can use the weapon flashlight separately from the weapon itself.

Is it worth buying Dayz standalone yet? [With Developer responses]

That's not really a question we can answer for you. It's down to how willing you are to put up with bugs, missing features, regular character wipes and not much in the way of content. It'll all improve in time, but it really can't be emphasised enough that this is absolutely an Alpha, and that if you're wanting to play DayZ without interruptions or having your immersion broken, it's probably not for you right now. If you want to see what the base is like that they're going to build the game up from, it's worth a purchase. EDIT: GOD DAMMIT, VIKTOR! :p

    Please... combat log

It's on the list of things to sort. They've got a system in place, they just haven't implemented it yet. Please be patient! :)

    Dayz standalone Cars??

Yes, there absolutely will be vehicles in a future update. The information's on the 'Development Roadmap' section of the DayZ Steam page. http://store.steampowered.com/app/221100/ EDIT: Damn you, Viktor! *shakes fist*

    Should antibiotics give you sickness?

I have no idea, but it'd be interesting if they did - I know in real life, strong antibiotics can have side effects. I once had to miss a Foo Fighters show because I was on antibiotics and... well, let's just say a three-hour car journey wasn't on the cards. :p

The fire rekindled: happy about standalone

^This, a thousand times over. I was lucky enough to get in a couple of weeks early to help with load testing, and in the last big push a few hours before the SA was announced, I bumped into a guy on Balota airfield. We chatted briefly, realised we were heading the same way and decided to team up for a bit. We walked to Cherno slowly the entire way, drinking in the atmosphere - it was nearly dark, so shadows were everywhere, we could hear the distant gunfire from time to time, and we crept forward whilst keeping as low a profile as possible. Several times we dropped and watched as an oblivious freshspawn sprinted down the road past us, probably never even realising we were there. It felt like DayZ again, and I can't wait for the chance to play it with likeminded folks.
  15. It's pretty likely they're gone, yes. Sadly that's one of the many things you'll have to get used to over the course of the Alpha - losing your character at random. Also, the bug with not being able to open doors etc is to do with the server version being different to the version you're running. It might be worth checking that out.
  16. Target Practice (DayZ)

    Do loot respawn?

AFAIK, loot does not currently respawn at any other time than server restart, which I think is around every 4 hours or so. If you need stuff, try moving away from the coast and to some of the less-visited towns and villages - most of them are untouched.
  17. Target Practice (DayZ)

Suggestion: Lower the food/water consuming rate

I think longer-term the amount of food/drink required will almost certainly be lowered, as there's going to be much more to do, and you're simply not going to have time to look after all the new stuff AND keep yourself stocked to the gills with food and water. For now, I don't think it's a big issue, as it's not like there's much else to do other than dodge the maniacs running round with fire axes. :p

    Grey, grey and more grey..

Yeah, sounds like your blood/health is low. If you can get one, try getting a friend to blood/saline bag you and see if that sorts it.

    Day Z + Shadowplay?

That's what I'm saying though - the thing with Shadowplay at the moment is that it seems to be different for everyone, particularly on newer games. I'm sure many of the issues with BF4 have probably been resolved since, but that doesn't mean they never happened. Just like the issues with DayZ will be solved soon enough - it's just a matter of time. I'm not saying it's bad or anything like that - quite the opposite - I was just pointing out that it's in Beta, and therefore liable to do funky things that don't quite make sense.
  20. Target Practice (DayZ)

    Day Z + Shadowplay?

Sorry, that's poor wording on my part - I meant to say that some games works fine for lots of people but refuse to work for others running similar systems. The DayZ mod was an example, I think Battlefield 4 has had similar issues too.
  21. Target Practice (DayZ)

    Day Z + Shadowplay?

It's worth remembering that Shadowplay itself is in early Beta, and this particular issue seems to be a recurring one - some games will work with it just fine, others will stubbornly refuse to run. Didn't seem to work when I tried it the other night, but they'll sort it soon enough I guess - the demand will certainly be there.

    DayZ Hacks already happening

I wasn't even remotely suggesting that this was all some kind of ingenious plan on the part of the devs to get the hacking community to do their work for them or anything like that - I was simply agreeing with the quoted post saying that sometimes the best way to prevent hackers is to look at it from a hacker's point of view. I'm sure in an ideal world, they'd love to have VAC and/or Battleye running, but I'm guessing at this embryonic stage of the game there are technical reasons why that hasn't been an option they've pursued yet. Who knows? I'm sure there wasn't a meeting at some point, someone raised the subject of antihacks and Rocket just said 'nah, fuck it - can't be bothered yet'.

How to melee with mosin and bayonet?

    7.62 rounds

    DayZ Hacks already happening

This. It's a tactic some developers have used before - I know Mozilla have used it in the past, and I'm pretty sure Google did the same - they announce 'bounties' of fairly substantial amounts of cash ($5k plus I believe) to any hackers that can find and report an exploit to them.

An apology to the person I killed last night

In my experience, it tends not to be a particularly vague sensation. One second fine, next second burning searing agony then blackness. It's fairly noticeable.
