    AK-74 series

Use your shift key. Brings up a crosshair. If you're trying to headshot zombies at close range, you should be using your secondary anyway. M16 ACOG is just a better weapon. As far as the G36s, so their look doesn't match your taste---they are still quieter, more powerful, more accurate, and have a higher rate of fire. Additionally, all STANAG using weapons can be effectively silenced against zombies by using SD ammo, whether they are SD or not.

    AK-74 series

Did you somehow misinterpret my question as 'who would' because I asked 'why?' I mean, no sweat off my back if you don't pick up superior weapons. I'd rather fight you with an AK74 than any other assault rifle anyway.

    AK-74 series

The AK-74 series is the worst set of assault rifles in the game. They are less accurate and less powerful than any other. Why pick one over a dot-sighted M4, an acog M16, any of the G36 variants, AKs, FALs, or Sa58 models?

What Event Turned You Into A Bandit?

Never made sense to me to do anything other than KOS everyone.

    Feel so guilty..

You know where you fucked up? You asked another player for help. I kill absolutely everyone I can but I don't mislead anyone about my intent.

The time you just couldn't do it...

I don't even think of it as doing something wrong. That's the point of the game isn't it? Zombies are not challenging opponents, you can kill as many as you have bullets (and then a shitload more with your axe). Other players make the game dangerous. That's why you don't want zombies following you, because drawing attention to yourself is how you get killed.

    Skilled Vs Unskilled bandits

This. Exactly this. Stonewall, your playstyle depends upon the other player to not understand what is in his own best interest. The difference you are really talking about is not anything to do with skill, it is just rp vs not rp. Most people don't rp in this, and just see it as a fun, sandboxy video game. Some, like yourself, see it as roleplaying a real zombie apocalypse...and so you play accordingly. You value your e-life for its own sake, not because of the time you've put into it. I feel a rush in pvp because I am gambling my time spent getting to that point gear-wise vs. his. So my willingness to engage in risky combat situations scales accordingly. As I go up on that scale, I don't really have much to gain from fair fighting, so I don't. Unless I'm feeling crazy. Anyway, let me point you in the direction of a game that would suit your view of video games: EVE. Yes, it is internet spreadsheet spaceships but it is exactly what you are looking for. For a good amount of time I was in a pirate corporation and our primary income was derived from ship ransoming. I warp in while someone is mining or ratting (killing npcs) in an asteroid belt, lock him up and put on a warp jammer, then demand a price slightly lower than the estimated total cost of his ship + mods + implants on pod. Sounds like its right up your alley.

    Skilled Vs Unskilled bandits

Nobody is doing this. However, the rest of us don't have moral qualms with it because this is a video game. You are claiming that anyone who has shot someone with a DMR and NVGs is 'unskilled' when that just isn't logic. Just because Kobe Bryant has scored points from the free throw line doesn't mean that he only shoots free throws. Getting to DMR/NVGs is kind of a goal simply because having those two and playing on a night server makes you a god compared to those without NVGs. I doubt that any players spend all of their time camping the NWAF with NVGs and a DMR because that's just boring. Mostly because night servers generally have low populations. At any rate, you give the game away when you say that sniping in daytime is somehow better. If i'm in a sniping position, night or day, you won't see me. You also still have yet to make a case for why anyone should bother playing it that way. You say its fun? I disagree. I don't think holding up other players is fun, I think that it is stupid. If you find it fun, great. Knock yourself out. You payed money to play this game, do you. I'll do me and I'd appreciate it if you would grow your perspective enough to understand that people's play styles and what they enjoy doing are going to be as unique as every other aspect of their personality.

You have yet to make a case for why I should 'hold you up.' I don't play this game so that you have fun, I play this game so that I have fun. I will KOS everyone I see who isn't on voice comms with me because there is no good reason not to and there are several compelling reasons to shoot first and ask questions never. If you find yourself in a straight-up firefight after you had the drop on your opponent, that means you fucked up. If you chose to talk to your victim and let him know that you're there, and he kills you, it is your fault for being a dumbass. I take advantage of people who do this shit all the time, and have no interest in joining their idiot ranks. You are clearly just mad that you got shot by people with DMRs and NVGs. I'm sorry this makes you so angry. Just kidding, I think it's pretty funny.

Choosing to make myself vulnerable out of some misplaced sense of e-honor has nothing to do with my ability to waste you. If you can't handle dying, find another game.

This server needs bandits Calling all bandits

I think you take this game more seriously than you should.

whats your favorite gun for slaying survivors

1-10m Mk 48 10-200m G36K Quietest assault rifle, has cco and 4x scope, can fire npc-silenced rounds just by changing ammo. Epic rate of fire too. 200-700m DMR I rarely encounter circumstances that require more range than this. Because the DMR is such an effective weapon anyway, I forgo upgrading to M107 or AS50 because of how common the DMR ammo is and because it can be used at close range in a pinch (supposing server has reticle); and you can use it with NVGs. Beyond 700m: I prefer to have an AS50, but I try not to find myself in these situations because I rarely have the ability to switch between a DMR and AS50.

    Pistols are incredibly underpowered

Agreed. You know how to beat snipers without a sniper? Don't fight them at long range! Run around them in cover when you are aware of a sniper, but otherwise stay in cover while moving to avoid that situation in the first place. And then get a sniper rifle. I usually get sniper rifles by killing snipers at close range with shit like ak74s. There's a reason why every powerful military in the world issues scopes with their main battle rifle to every soldier. They're better. CCO mod weapons are for urban combat, and are not going to be as good as scoped weapons at long ranges in hilly forest/pastureland. At 50 - 100 yards the CCO will be the better weapon because its just a faster acquisition. After that....there's a reason we invented scopes. My usual kit in this game is sniper rifle - cco rifle - m9sd. Feel free to use....

When is it Okay to KoS?

It is always Okay to KoS. Always. Think of it as encouraged even!

When is it Okay to KoS?

Always. Didn't pick up this DMR/M4SD/M9SD 45 minutes after spawning at a heli crash.

    Define what a "Bandit" is.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/No_true_Scotsman Look up the definition of the word bandit. Nowhere will it say 'and attempts to keep his victim alive.'

I think the Lee Enfeild is under rated :P

I think skill is underrated. The Lee Enfield, like most other rifles in DayZ, is a pretty accurate weapon and if you get shot in the head its gg. I generally prefer a weapon with better damage, optics, and rate of fire, but I'm not afraid to try long shots with the Enfield because a rifle is still a rifle. Hell, my roommate's favorite weapon is the m14. He regularly headshots moving targets at 600 yards without magnification. All about what you can do with what you've got.

Bandit - Correct me if I am wrong

I'm afraid video game mechanics just cannot support your desired playstyle. People don't fear dying in video games because of death. They fear it because of whatever consequences it brings according to the game. I would just shoot you while you were trying to communicate with me, because if I die...so what its a video game. If I kill you, I get to laugh at you for roleplaying. Robbing while trying to keep the other player alive is silly because there isn't any motivation to stay alive other than to keep your gear. If someone is stealing your gear, why not try to kill them? What do you lose? You cannot run around with the assumption that many people will want to RP with you. I would probably die if someone said 'freeze, this is a robbery' or some such just because I would be laughing too hard to aim accurately.

    How does everyone else feel?

    Grow some balls, OP.

    Define what a "Bandit" is.

Really simple. KOS. Anyone I'm not on Mumble with is a target. The objective is to get shit. Trying to rob someone just makes you a roleplayer. Dude, their tears just make us stronger. Honestly I love reading their opinions because it reminds me of what it was like to be a teenager.

    Why banditing?

    1. They're taking loot I might want. 2. They are looking for, and could easily find a weapon to kill me with later. 3. If I reset them, I have the area to myself longer. 4. Maybe I'm down a bandage (I like to have 4) or a box of painkillers (I like to have two). See, you are telling me what the game 'should be.' You hope that they change the game so that it suits what you want. I hope they leave zombies as they are-----brainless, retarded, and unarmed. Sounds threatening to fit, well armed people eh? At any rate, I enjoy the game as it is, and I play it logically. I have far more to gain from killing anyone I see than I do not killing them. I'm not interested in teaming up with strangers, I have friends for that. Even if I didn't, why share loot with someone whose goals and strategies will no doubt be different from my own? Also---pubbies are idiots. Frankly, people who are 'friendly' tend to be idiots who I have absolutely no interest in on a human level. Why would I be afraid of death? I can gear back up again in a few hours (which is fun anyway). Killing people hastens the process.

    Tell me your best kill...

I was in overwatch on one of the hills above Starry with a good view of the whole town and the military tents. I had a DMR/Ghillie/M4A3. I killed a few people, found some NVGs (seems the hardest thing for me to find always), when a bus drove into town. There were a few guys in it, I immediately opened up, but I didn't have the range for sure and didn't know which milidot to use, so didn't manage to do more than shoot out the windows and fuck up the hull a bit. I chilled for another 10 minutes or so, getting shit to repair my atv. I eventually got it running and went after the bus hoping for goodfites. Well, turns out they had the same plan because they'd parked the bus to the southwest of starry over that little hill where I couldn't see it, and were crawling back in after me. I drove through them on my atv, they all took shots at me as I jinked out of LOS, I went and parked the ATV 1000m or so away and circled around so that I was to their East in the woods. It was raining and visibility wasn't super, but I stopped and set up within sight of the bus (~700 meters). After zooming in, I saw that one was lying there, facing the wrong way. I had a rangefinder, and knew how far I was shooting, but still didn't know the milidots. I figured I didn't have time to look it up, so I just figured trial and error...worked out, he managed to get on the bus, but I blew his head off as soon as it switched him to the chair. A minute or so later I see his buddy crawling towards the bus, one shot to the face 4tw. About 15 minutes later the last one crawls up from a different angle, and got the same treatment. They had a silenced M9 and the mk.48 I was looking for. Good times.

Why it doesn't pay to be a bandit....sometimes.

Yeah, I'm not an incompetent loser. I'll keep KOS'ing if its all the same to you.
