Hm. I don't quite understand your logic in wanting to pass a command to the player, and have them execute it. It just seems to me that there would be more efficent ways of programming what you are wanting to do. I've never liked crossing the local and server barrier (its there for a reason). It just seems that you could do whatever you are needing to do either completely on the server, or completely on the client. Remember that anything you pass to the client will slow the logging in process (thus we like to do a lot on the server side). Sometimes you have to semi break the barrier.... ie: on client side: if (something) { execute this script on the server } But thats usually as far as you want to go. moral: I would relook exactly how I am going about doing what I am trying to do. But if you want to pass something from the server side to the client side..... simply return the variable at the end of your serverFunctions.sqf /* bunch of code */ _result // end of sqf, no semi colon Now whatever variable you used to call the server with, will be equal to whatever is in _result Lets call that variable _fromServer If you want to execute a string that was stored in _result (now _fromServer), this might work.... _someVar = spawn compile _fromServer; You might be able to combine these (again untested) like so: _fromServer = spawn compile [ [parameters to pass to server] execVM "\path\to\serverFunctions.sqf"]; I would try the first part first lol, I'm not entirely sure you can compile a variable.... though in theory it should work (calling a file does nothing more than assign the resulting information passed from the file to a temporary variable). Again, I like the exercise, got me to thinking about sqf in a wierd way. I still think this can be done much more effeciently by doing it on the server, and simply executing (via execVM) from the client (if nothing else that will cut down on network traffic when logging in). edit: Hm, I think I might be explaining this backwards............ -

Hm..... Let me see if I got this right in an example: You want to pass information from dayz_mission.pbo/localTest.sqf to dayz_server.pbo/serverTest.sqf ? How about something like this: (localTest.sqf) _letsDoThis = [info1, info2, _someVar] execVM "\z\addons\dayz_server\init\serverTest.sqf"; Then: (serverTest.sqf) private["info1", "info2", "var1"]; _info1 = this select 0; // variable for first info passed _info2 = this select 1; // variable for second info passed _var1 = this select 2; // data from the variable passed do something here with information. That should get you going in the right direction. -

If you use global chat, your going to have to have a player in there. So you will need something along the lines of: [_player,nil,rGLOBALCHAT,"Text: Hallo1"] call RE; course you will need to assign _player before hand. -

I think your issue is that you do not have anyone set as sending the message. All messages have to be sent by someone, so you are going to need to set someone to broadcast the message. Does it not give you any sort of error in the logs? You also have the functions commented out? Oh, and to post code, just copy paste it, if its not too large. Or attach as a txt file. -

No, you will place markers ..... the name is irrelevent (they will be changed to item0, item1 ... etc) .... then there is a bit of coding you have to do to get them to work. There is a thread on opendayz about it =) -

Fortunately servers such as that never last long. They end up dieing, and admins have nice little tea parties spawning gear for theirselves until they close the server. -

You can change the spawn points by creating way points in the editor, and editing your dayz_mission.pbo to spawn at those way points. Weapons not spawning? Never heard that one....... DayzCC is decent tool for administering. There are tons of them out there, but you can administer it without any.... anything else just makes your life easier. I would suggest BEC... its nice. TSW is also another nice admin tool. If your server host does not do daily backups on the database, I would highly suggest that you do so. You can do this manually (i would suggest stepping over to w3schools or somewhere and getting a quick primer on sql) or you can write a php script (or whatever language that allows sql) to do it for you. At least this is the way that I do backups. BEC (mentioned above) allowed for the restarts (it has a scheduler).... with messages (you can add whatever messages to display at whatever time you want. Like I say I would suggest using this. . . . . . I would suggest (for scripting things) that opendayz (google it), as there is a larger community of folks scripting for this game there. -

Ran around for about 12 hours trying to fix a helicopter. . . . . Got it fixed. . . . . Rejoice! . . . . Was low on blood, ask in side chat if anyone could administer. . . . . Someone in cherno said yes...... . . . . Got in heli to fly down there. . . . . Passed out . . . . Heli crashed. . . . . abort -> disconnect -> go to gun range

Sounds to me like someone needs to find a new server lol. Unfortunately there is a trade off on choosing servers. Private servers run the risk of abusive admins. Public servers run a much higher risk of hackers. Take it from someone who is paranoid about admin abuse and watches admins actions very closely (and they know it). Worst part is I trust my admins and still paranoid rofl. -

This would just create another PVP zone. People would simply wait till you started to drive in, shoot you and take car. Or people would simply break locks on all of the garages (and other folks would be sniping). Though I agree there should be some way of locking things (with the ability to break lock with hatchet or crowbar.... or even shoot the lock) provided you can find a lock (perhaps they spawn in a grocery store). Though I don't see how it would add much to the game.

Yes, but they don't spawn all that much (compared to say a barracks or a firestation), and there aren't that many of them -

It is a good ways away from the real high value stuff, so not as many people frequent it. The end destination for most people is NWAF, for the military loot there. As such, going to Berezino is out of the way.... more folks would rather take the typical route up through zelenosk and/or stary, gearing up for the trip to NWAF. If you are not overly worried about military loot, then yes Berezino is a great place to go, much safer and not bad for loot either. I used to frequent the area (before starting my own server, which due to additions has quiet a different game play) .... making runs between berezino, khelm, the deer stand, krasnostav (also has a grocery store) and NEAF.... rinse and repeat. Gvozdno is also a decent place to try and get the motorcycle there as well (not to mention the UAV out in black lake) -
