How do you spawn a tank?

Since 102678 beta patch of Arma OA you can spawn a tank ---- WITHOUT RMOD Battleye still blocks the firing of the main gun, #85 sounds about right (I've modified mine so much that its like 89 on mine rofl). Just open your scripts.txt and change 85 from 5 to 1, then firing the main gun won't result in a kick. If you do not have the option to spawn through the database, add a new vehicle in the vehicle data base with class_name "m1a1" List of vehicles unbanned (though they may be unworking, testing is required.... BE has many restricted) vehicles via the beta patch 102678: http://opendayz.net/...hout-rmod.8277/ I've tested a few and got them working, some with BE modification. Actually looking at adding a single uh1y (huey with mini guns and rockets) into a heavily (think mission impossible) defended NPC base as a prize.
  2. The fact that people cannot pack other people's tents seems out of place to me. As such I am thinking about adding the ability to pack other people's tents (yes it is possible, already tested). How would you feel about such a feature?
  3. I've already added the ability to pack your own tent. Granted it requires you wait till one restart after you die.
  4. New features: Heli Lift! Dogs that follow you and obey commands!

    Suggestion: Duffel Bag (New backpack)

I for one have absolutely no idea how you would get a rifle inside an alice pack in RL.... unless you strapped it to the outside. I do, however, know you can get 15 M4s inside a duffel bag. Plus.... I'm still convinced duffel bags are impossible to fill up. Every time you think you have one full, you can dump it, repack and still get more in it. I have actually busted duffle bags before, taken everything out and packed into another one... and was somehow able to get more into the 2nd than what busted the first.

How to use a variable from another pbo file?

On the server side.... headshots is a global variable "headShots" (as is "humanity", "humanKills", "banditKills", and "zombieKills" among others). Maybe (floating an idea here): Create a new global variable: oldHeadShots Save the value of headShots to oldHeadShots Everytime a player is killed: compare oldHeadShots to headShots If (headShots == 100 && oldHeadShots == 99) { rhint: "congratulations that was......." } To determine if you want to do this client or server side you need to balance memory usage (due to number of variables present on server) vs network usage (sending the new variable to the client everytime they kill someone). Sorry about late reply, had some fires to put out.
  7. Put a password on your server that only you and your friend know. Then you don't have to worry about ppl stealing your stuff. Since you only allow PVE, this will also keep PVP from happening. Win-Win ..... and you contribute to the employment of people who work for server hosts. Good job!
  8. Background: I typically run around helping people as much as possible, until shot at... then I defend myself. I have two other admins on my server. When I made these two individuals admins, the following are the general rules I gave them: Never use admin tools to benefit you or others in any way Do not use admin tools to assist in any sort of pvp Admin is simply the ability to monitor the server for hackers/scripters and stop them before they cause trouble. I gave explicit instructions that I was not expecting them to change the way they played, and that if they wanted to be bandits, or whatever.... that is their deal, so long as they leave the admin tools out of it. Well, I thought this to be fair, even as the server "owner" I do not feel it is my place to dictate how anyone plays the game, including my admins. So long as they are within the rules of the game, and are not abusing admin powers, I do not see where their game style is an issue. Now that's out of the way: Today a player raided these two individuals base... which the two admins prompty shot the player. Anyway, player goes on whining about admin abuse this admin abuse that. I get it, people whine, I can deal with that. Finally my question(s): Do you feel that admins of a server are in any way obligated to be "friendly"? Do you see anything wrong with bandit admins.... so long as they are not using admin tools to do it? I just figured I would ask, maybe I have the wrong idea of what admins should be. Granted, these two admins are not hard core bandits, they usually help people (though they do like to play the... put your weapon down, lay on the ground.... game a bit first.... but when players comply they always leave them much better off than they started.... ie some pretty decent gear (hell I don't even do that)). Should admins be obligated to be care bears?
  9. My apologies for the latish reply, I was by far and away more concerned with taking care of issues (caused by you) with current players, than I am with explaining myself to former ones. Lets start off by stating the fact that if you were indeed interested in discussing this, you would not have began by causing such issues. It is partly my fault, yes I agree, I should have changed the path to the admin tools. I was unaware that the security mechanism of these tools allowed to continued access even after your admin account was deleted. Secondly, I was extremely clear in the fact that admin tools should not be used for personal gain or harming other players. Admin tools are there solely for creating a hacker free environment. From this you deviated. I am an incredibly strong believer in the phrase "problems do not get better with age", as such when I recognize one I usually take immediate action. You know as well as I do that I had absolutely no problem with your killing other players, in fact I thought it a good thing. A server needs bandits, it is an aspect of the game which I am now, sadly, without. Players need to feel threatened by other players, it is one of the things that makes this game great. In so far as destroying your base, I frankly have absolutely no idea what you are talking about here. I do not see what I would have to gain by destroying yours, or any player's for that matter, base? I refrain from messing with people's bases because I do not feel it fair if I were to do those things. For one, I built the custom base you were using, for you. For me to destroy it would be against he founding principle which I have in this game: admins should not interfere with the game play of players (unless it is as a player themselves). By knowing, due to having created them, the location of player bases I am obligated to leave them alone. I have always felt (and expressed to everyone on the server) that such knowledge keeps me from doing a lot of things in the game (the same reason I will not tell anyone where any vehicles are..... I know where most of them are, because I PUT THEM THERE). You went and got "your" vehicles back utilizing admin tools to locate those vehicles, and then utilizing admin tools to spawn in parts to fix those vehicles. ANY player utilizing a map to locate vehicles or player, and ANY player utilizing anything to spawn things into the game is banned. Banning ORION: ok, I agree that may have been a little harsh. Orion had little to do (as he was not an admin) with the actions taken by you two, but I felt that the best way to move on from this situation would be to keep the drama of it out of the server. Had I not banned Orion, there would definitely have been drama, which would have effected the players on the server..... which I strive to keep from happening. I have nothing against Orion, other than the knowledge of the drama allowing him on my server would cause. For that I hope he understands and accepts my apology. I didn't give a reason for banning you simply for, as stated above, the time constraints natural to such situations. Any situation like this is going to get ugly and fast. As such I moved as quickly as possible to remove all access to the server, and correct the issues that you caused between such time. Again, had you felt that there was a logical and mature manner that this could be handled, I'm sure you would have refrained from causing the issues that you did immediately upon getting banned. Restating: some of this is my fault, I was unaware that connections to the control page persisted even after your account on that page was deleted. My spawning in gear: I have on occasion, when testing certain features (such as NPC and safe zone) spawned myself into a location to facilitate that testing. I felt (and still do) that the swift implementation of those features supersedes any requirements to go and gather gear in order to test it, it is after all a test. As far as spawning with gear everytime.... I spawn with the same gear that anyone spawns with.... with one exception: I spawn in the rocket_dz skin. My apologies from spawning in gear to "help" me in the game, I use that skin so that folks can recognize me entering their bases for modifications (as previously stated, I do not go to player bases for any hostile intentions). Spawning parts for vehicles? I find that statement funny, as it was just this weekend I sat here for 6 hours looking for parts to fix a huey, and you were online while I was talking about it. I am 100% sure that I told both of you (while sitting around a camp fire) that admin tools were not to be used for personal gain in any way. Anyway, my apologies again for the book here, just now had the time to sit down and write a response in detail. I am sorry that this had to come to be, you and your game play style will be missed. As I stated above, we need players (not admins) like you (bandits) to make the server more interesting.

How to use a variable from another pbo file?

Lol, nvm didn't see the last part. For the killer messages, this will be fairly simple to do. I would go the route of modifying the script that posts those kill messages. Look for this line of script in the server_playerDied.sqf if (KillMsgsIngame) then { [nil, nil, rspawn, [_killer, _message], { (_this select 0) globalChat (_this select 1) }] call RE; }; So lets get a little creative here. You want only the killer to see something? Well how about we send him a group message? Since every player is in their own group, you can easily do this and only that person will see it! So lets change it to reflect this: [nil, nil, rspawn, [_killer, _message], { (_this select 0) groupChat (_this select 1) }] call RE; Then simply reformat the _message (you will see it in that script) to reflect what you want to display =) AND everything is handled server side, yay!

How to use a variable from another pbo file?

    2) You want this to display to the entire server? 1) Hm, is possible, but the storage of such data is the main issue here.

How to use a variable from another pbo file?

Ah! Messages sent at the same time, but different for each player. Definitely changes things a bit. Are you wanting to send this message when a player logs in? At a certian time? Or are you wanting to do this when some action is triggered?

How to use a variable from another pbo file?

I was combining commands. Yes, you can do it the way that you posted ....... _whatever is some object owned by the player. The server has to know which player you are talking about. So if you have some variable that described something owned by a player.... you can use owner _someVAR which will return the playerID that owns the information stored in that variable. By using: (owner _SomeVar) publicVariableClient "someOtherVar"; I am simply cutting out the need to store an additional variable. If you are wanting to send a message to everyone on the server.... why are you trying to send the message to the client, and then have the client post it? For server wide messages post it from the server. We keep going back and forth it seems on exactly what you are trying to do...... your going to have to be more specific. Sending code to each client, and then having each client post a message to that player is extremely inefficient. Simply posting a message from the server to everyone is much better (we talked about that a few posts up). Again, if you could lay out what you are trying to do, we could probably tackle this problem a lot faster, instead of dancing around each individual command.

    New Player

Check us out, have a small "no PVP" area, where new players can get their bearings and learn a little about the loot system. Also have helpful admins and players willing to help with the ins and outs of the game to get you on your feet faster.

    Everyone kills me

Depends on the server you are playing on my friend. Every server develops its own little community, and while death match is prevalent on many, its not so on all.

    How to "clean" the map?

Open mission.pbo open init.sqf Find this line: progressLoadingScreen 1.0; Create this on the next line: stream_locationCheck = { // remove random junk }; This will, however, remove the camps in cherno, berezino, balota and stary (the ones with the military tents) along with all the junk from the roads.

How to use a variable from another pbo file?

Well. Lets try this from a different approach. Send variable from server to client. text = "some text"; _playerID = // the id of the player you want to send a variable to, you can actually replace this with any variable which contains information about a player, for exapmle: _playerObj can be used instead of _playerID provided it points to the player you want to connect to. (owner _playerID) publicVariableClient "text"; Send variable from client to server text = "some text"; publicVariableServer "text"; Notice that in both cases, "text" does not have an underscore preceeding it. Try that and see if you can use the "text" variable on the client/server after it is passed.
  19. Safe zone added encompassing pavlovo and kamenka. There is no PVP allowed in this area. Anyone that shoots another survivor in this area is instantly killed. Warning messages added warning a player when they enter and when they exit the safe zone. Safe zone extends south and west of the point 030 110

How to use a variable from another pbo file?

    dayz_server\test.sqf _x = 1; _x client/localTest.sqf _letsDoThis = [] execVM "\z\addons\dayz_server\test.sqf"; Now _letsDoThis, which is on the client (in dayz_mission.pbo) equals 1 . ........................................... Further: dayz_server\test.sqf _x = "result = _object getVariable[_variable,0];"; _x client/localTest.sqf _letsDoThis = [] execVM "\z\addons\dayz_server\test.sqf"; _letsDoThis Now equals "result = _object getVariable[_variable,0];" So, lets run it (What I was talking about above that in theory should work, but I'm not absolutely sure.....): call compile _letsDoThis;

    Burning down houses/bases

Watching joe, don and charlie walking innocently up to a vehicle in their camp to get a gun, and then fly 50m up into the air. . . . Just saying, I would never do that. . . . . maybe

How to use a variable from another pbo file?

Just let me know if you have further questions or anything. The hardest thing about programming (or scripting in this case) is figuring out the best method for doing something. Once you have the method you are going to use to do something figured out..... its easy to write code.

    Zombie Aggressiveness

Your getting attacked because you smell yummy. As far as I know you cannot edit the way zombies act without modifying dayz_code .... which would need to be distributed to each person who wanted to play.
