    Release the standalone already

You're right, but let's not encourage the script kiddies. D: Oh stop being butt-hurt. It's fun to laugh at the salty tears. :)

    Release the standalone already

Fuck you Rocket, let me pay now and then send me an email when it's ready! If you don't, then I'll whine and bitch like a little 2 year old, until I get my way! Also you're a horrible programmer and DayZ is shitty, but I've played over 200 hours since June anyway. I'm a sadist and I hate games that are fun. Also, even though there's nothing that you can do about it, make BattleEye block every single hacker ever, even in old games that no one plays anymore like command & conquor. Finally, I hate zombies, they're stupid.. you should use unicorns or ponies instead, but they should still be angry and kill everyone. Except me. If I die, I should respawn with all my stuff because I probably died to a bug or a hacker or just bad game design.. Fuck you Rocket, I want to play DayZ stand alone right now, or else I won't buy it.. (but of course I will anyway, because I'm a sadist.. There.. is that better? :) ps. yeah that's right, october/november.. my bad. ;)

    Release the standalone already

Screw, it, I would pay now just to be able to register my username for future play. A few games have done it already, and it's pretty kick-ass being able to secure your identity in such a way. Rocket already said it would hopefully be in September, but more likely October, but it can't hurt to ask. (nicely) ;) (http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2012/08/17/day-z-standalone/) Either way, the money I keep throwing at my screen isn't doing anything.. I think I must be doing something wrong. :(

The Coalition - Changing the Culture of DayZ

Ooh.. just read this.. I was tempted to just edit this into my last post, but I'm pretty sure someone else will be in here in the mean time. You talk a good talk.. but like you said, double agents.. Think about this for a minute or two.. none of you dirty bandit losers can ever trust each other long enough to discuss teaming up. Hell, during the talks, some monkey will throw a grenade into the crowd and blow up your leadership. This group is organized and we have a set goal and we will not allow you to get in the way of other peoples enjoyment of this game. We will need you.. what would we do without outlaws and bandits? (and psychopaths..) We will always be there to protect the innocent and there is nothing you pathetic bandits can do to break our resolve. But have fun trying ;) edit: wow, no one posted in the meantime, I should have just edited this into my last post.. :(

The Coalition - Changing the Culture of DayZ

Wow, this is great, count me in and unofficially I'm pretty sure my group will be happy to join up in the "big list" I'm a member of the Ghost Response Team, and this is pretty much the exact same thing we are trying to work towards, except on a much bigger scale than we thought this community was capable of. (I hate the fact I even had to type that) I saw a post by some self proclaimed bandit about this, and he was trying to "rally the troops" in the bandit forums.. guess what, it didn't work. They basically all started posting about being lone wolves and not trusting eachother, see that's the thing.. this is the very reason why we can take control back.. the bandits and outlaws couldn't organize if they wanted to! ;) I'm right here if you need overwatch, my friends.. it'll be a pleasure to help keep the peace for a change. :) ps.. mmm salty bandit tears ;)

    OMG! AWESOME DOGS!

LOL! Not what I was expecting.. I'll give you beans, if you don't eat the dogs... :P
  8. Can't tell you.. hackers will see and come like ants to a picnic.. :P
  9. Join a squad, make a home on a server and defend it. It's much more fun to play with other people.. I was a lone wolf for the first ~200 hours I played, now I swear by my group and we help each other out with ammo and other loot. Plus, we have a "clan" server, so when there are unknowns on it, we know their locations and if they attack one of us, they might as well jump off a lighthouse. ;) Not to mention when we drop off our weapons and play "hunger games" type games by hunting each other in a certain area, or just generally keeping each other aware of what is happening in other parts of the map. Trust me.. it's much more satisfying than playing solo in the woods with a hunting knife. ;)
  10. I'm looking for FN FAL ammo and a gps, I have 2 extra nvg's 2 extra Compasses and a ton of cooked meat. I also have a SAW I am willing to part with, as well as a heap of standard gear. Think we can make a deal? Hit me up in pm, if interested..

Dayz At Gamescom 2012, 17th of august.

So did they have the stand alone version there, or was it the 1.7.3 build?
  12. There is a full team working on bug fixes.. they're working on the Stand-alone, which is using a custom version of the same engine. Fixes that can be applied to the mod, will be, but engine issues can't be fixed in the mod, because the team has no access to the Arma2 engine code. That is why there is not much else that can be done for some of these issues. It's pointless for the "Full team" to work on the mod, because it will take away from the development of the actual product. The mod was an experiment, a proof of concept if you like. The experiment was a success and now we're getting a full version of the game that we all love. I for one am extremely happy, and I have the utmost faith in Rocket and his team.
  13. Blah, I started typing a reply and then realized I had already said it all countless times.. That, added to the fact that most of the things I was planning to say, have already been said in this thread, made me say screw it and cancel the post.. All that I'm going to bother saying is that the OP doesn't seem to read anything, nor understand programming and game dev. I've been involved in design for about 10 years now, maybe a bit longer, and seen many mods come and go. I've seen updates that didn't include *any* content, just a heap of code that improved performance and connectivity, nothing that the average player would even notice. There is so much behind the scenes code involved in a game that we could have gone the past 3 months with no visible changes, and they would still have been working non-stop around the clock. For the last time (that I'm going to bother posting in one of these threads) it's an alpha, we're supposed to be testing, not playing it like it's a finished game: If you don't like testing and providing feedback, wait for stand-alone to be finished.. If you don't like the bugs and glitches involved in testing an alpha, wait for stand-alone to be finished.. If you don't like hackers, wait for stand-alone to be finished.. If you think the game is dying, wait for stand-alone to be finished.. If you don't like losing your gear to bugs and glitches, wait for stand-alone to be finished... If you don't like connection issues and crashes, wait for stand-alone to be finished.. If you don't want to wait for stand-alone and insist on playing an unfinished alpha of a prototype/proof of concept, don't complain when things happen. There's nothing else to say. There is an entire team working on the stand-alone product, it will be polished and it will work perfectly, but it will be a long road getting there. I'm along for the ride.. if you're not, stop asking "are we there yet?" every 5 minutes, and ruining the trip for the rest of us.
  14. cyanyde

    Yep, this mod is dying

Every mod or game I've ever seen starts off with a huge number of players and then eventually ends up evening out. You can't call an Alpha of an un-released mod that has just been announced as a stand-alone project dead. Wait until the stand-alone is released on the custom engine.. then the active players will spike back up. I also don't get much time to play lately because of work and other real life things, haven't played in a few days, but I definitely will be playing again soon. I've also got some friends who decided to wait for the graphical issues to be fixed. This will happen sooner or later, and when it does, we will see a large number of players return. Finally, while I agree that the hackers are giving the mod a bad name, I've yet to see one, and I'm sure there are others out there who haven't seen any yet either. OP: Grow up and stop acting like the sky is falling, you have no idea what you're talking about..
  15. I agree. Rocket should make the game *he* wants to make. I've seen many games get run into the ground because of the more vocal communities. What some devs don't seem to realize is that the players that are happy with things, won't bother posting about them. It's the complaints that get noticed, not the praise. I've never been hacked, never been to Thunderdome, only had my legs broken by a zombie once (at G.Mountain, go figure) and I definitely have no trouble with updating/connecting. Why would I complain? I have been alpha/beta testing since the original QTF (Quake Team Fortress) so I'm used to issues with early builds. That's why you don't see me ranting and raving about the issues.. oh yeah, that and the fact that I trust Rocket to do the right thing. It's the people who are vocal about things that sit in the forums and complain.. the people who are happy with the game are too busy playing it to come to the threads and counter the bitching. It's one thing to listen to your community and read their feedback, it's a completely different thing to change the game because a bunch of spoiled kids decided rant in the forums.. look what happened to Battlefield 3. :(

    Question regarding the Map

Or, use the map coordinates to keep track of stuff, and just write it on a notepad that you keep nearby. If you zoom into the map, you can see your exact reference point on the top and left sides.. You can also use this information with your squad mates to give them an idea of your location. ;)

    fuck you bastards

meh, reckless newbs are reckless.. Every time you die in this game, you learn something.. When you don't actually die, you miss out on the lesson. Next time tell them to make sure and double tap. ;)

    fuck you bastards

Reminds me of the movie Red State lol As others said above me.. names please! Hell, give us the Skype info that he gave you.. I bet he(they) get(s) ass-raped in a matter of minutes. ;)

I wanna stay alive this time

Honestly, I mostly go out with literally *nothing* except a hatchet and possibly a coyote pack. (The small one, not the biggest one) I've managed to fill my entire inventory, plus found and filled an Alice pack, pretty much every time I went out. It's simple to find a weapon, I usually don't even bother with a primary unless it's something *really* good. Hatchet is awesome too because it can go to your toolbelt when you finally do find something worthwhile, not to mention the stealth aspect.. ;)

I wanna stay alive this time

I wouldn't take the stuff with me, unless I needed it. I don't care how experienced I am, or how safe I feel with my squad.. anything can happen and when it does, you'll probably have your rare shit on you at the time. Never mind stuff that kills you because you weren't paying enough attention or whatever, at any given moment you could be teleported to "Thunderdome" crawl too close to the wrong tree, or even just bump into a fellow squad mate at the wrong time and *crack* broken limbs.. Hell, you might get raped by the curse of "That Mountain".. you just never know man. Play smart. Play safe. ;) edit: Chuckles ninja posted as I was typing.. he said the same thing. For this, Chuckles get mah beans! :)

    The New "Cool" Hacker Trick

Please stop bumping the thread, it's annoying to read through the thread and find a bunch of posts that just say *bump* Not trying to be a dick.. even just say something relevant to the thread, if you really want to revive your post. Interesting to see another video of this, if you had stuck around you would have been chased around by Jason Voorhees while he swings an axe at you. I agree, it's a lot better to see some creativity instead of the usual griefer hacks.. I still can't condone the use of them. Maybe Rocket could code in a random chance that one player per thousand spawns as this guy with nothing but an axe and male them much harder to kill than normal. They would have to lose the ability to pick up loot though, otherwise someone would just hoard the player model and it would suck. :P

Smartest player I have ever seen.

I thought I was going to get to hear about some awesome tactics that totally were going to be awesomely mind-boggling cool. Instead I got false advertised to. :( Please change the title to "Dumbest player ever seen"

    Reddit - Aug 2012 - Q&A with Rocket

I want more ghost stories and other creepy shit. Rocket: Read the Urban Legends thread and add some of that, if it's not already in. ;) I've never played a game with so many kick ass creepy things going on.. I mean seriously, is G(host) Mountain really haunted? D:
