Yeah I would like to see this smoothed out as well. I get that they should be unpredictable, and hard to line up a shot as they run at you, but the way it is now just looks silly.. Aside from this, zeds hitting through walls, ammo disappearing and packs deleting stuff, the game is nearly perfect! :) ooh I just saw a cow walking across a field.. I actually just sat in a bush and watched it! lol ;)

I would like to find some friends to work with, pm me as well please :) I'm not a rookie, I just want someone to trade with and to help with blood transfusions etc..

Zombies seem ok to me, I just went from Kamenka to the Northern Airfield through all the smallish towns along the way. I was able to avoid the majority of zeds, although, it might have to do with giving them loooooots of space due to being terrified of them seeing me from far away. lol Anyway, I made it to the airfield, found an assault rifle and proceeded to alert every zombie in the area of my presence with one huge mistakenly pressed mouse button.. I died horribly, but that's to be expected when discharging a loud firearm in a heavily zed populated area. ;P One issue I had was with zombies coming through and hitting me through walls still, but I'm sure that's already known. I would like to suggest adding more melee stuff like pitchforks, shovels, etc.. The only problem I have with respawning without weapons is that in the real situation, I would easily find *something* to defend myself with.. even if it were possible to break it, I think that would still add a lot to the beginning minutes of life. I like the way melee works now, except it would be nice it the hachet/crowbar replaced the sidearm automatically when I "remove it from toolbelt" It's not fun dropping my sidearm, especially when I know there's a good chance I won't be able to locate it again. Other than that, I have to say amazing job! This mod just keeps getting better! :)

I would love the whole hunting/cooking meat thing, if it wasn't so damn hard to find matches.. :(

I used to try calling out that I was friendly, before I would enter an area.. hell, I've even bandaged up players I found bleeding to death and in one case even gave the guy a blood transfusion.. then blam. Shot in the back, every. single. time... :( Lately I just avoid people at all costs. I don't care if they are friendly or not at this point.. people are just too shady to trust. On a side note, yesterday I made it all the way from Pavlovo to the northern airfield. As soon as I got into one of the barrack buildings, I was ambushed by (I think) at least 6 dudes, without even being given the chance to say I was friendly.. it sucked. :(

Should I Just Sprint Into Town & Run Inside?
cyanyde replied to AWad's topic in New Player Discussion
you need to watch them for awhile, see where they are going. I know what you mean, they can totally sneak up on you, but if you take the time to scope things out first, you should be able to avoid them pretty easily.. -
I used six updater, it said everything was up to date, but it didn't load properly. Once I replace the arma2oa.exe with the beta one, and added: "-beta=Expansion\beta;Expansion\beta\Expansion;CA;@DayZ -mod=@dayz -nosplash -world=empty" to the startup options and it worked.. didn't work until then..
-
So I was having a problem because even though I was installing the latest beta, I was not using the new exe to load the game. If you are using steam, you will need to copy the beta files into your arma2 OA directory, or else change the command line so it loads the beta. I'm sorry I don't have more accurate instructions, you can find it by googling, but hopefully someone else can post some concise steps to get this working. Seems to me we need a proper thread to explain installing with the beta.. otherwise people who use steam are going to be stuck in debug forest, invisible, wearing only a cockring. :p (80's movie reference.. can you spot it?)

Yes, Teamwork is a big part of this mod. But forcing lone players out of the game doesn't make the game better. I've quickly lost faith in other players, they always end up shooting me in the back when I help them. I had a guy earlier today saying don't shoot, friendly! So I didn't shoot him.. guess what happened as soon as I turned my back on him... :/

So I followed all the instructions, installed both from the updater and the torrent. And I still have broken gui., invisible in 3pm, spawned in debug forest and no zombies.. I installed the latest beta and I still have these problems. Help please! :( Edit: ok, rejoined, apparently I spawned ok, but I was still in debug forest. Ran east, made it to Pavlovo, and now I'm hiding in a barn from the rain.. Also managed to find a hatchet.. I would like to suggest that the hachet and sidearm switch places automatically, and the ammo stays where it is. Please? :) Other than that, everything seems much more fluid and better fps, even on my laptop. Thanks for everything Rocket, keep up the great work! :)

Do we need ARMA2_OA_Build_93965 now?

Hotfix Build 1.7.1.4 Rolling Update (was 1.7.1.3)
cyanyde replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Yup, zeds are too sensitive. I liked the idea of them in 1.7, but they needed better line of site.. In 1.7, it was like Walking Dead with blind zombies, in 1.7.1.4, it's like 28 Days Later and the Zeds have xray/laser vision. :P I too have grown fonder of the idea of no gear to start off with. I prefer scavenging up the stuff I need, but I rarely have room for everything I find because of the semi-useless stuff I have in my pack when I start. (by this I mean stuff that I *should* never need, maybe a bandage would be good to start with, but the morphine, beans and soda/water, heaps of ammo etc is luxury stuff that I should need to hunt for.) As for melee, I would prefer the hachet to be used as a tool that I could also melee with (along with the flashlight and whatever else I would normally be able to use).. in RL I would be able to pick up *anything* and use it as a weapon, it's makes no sense to me to be killed because I don't have any way to defend myself, even though I have full blood, and I'm obviously a healthy adult with the strength to climb ladders and carry around a big ass pack.. . Finally, I haven't experienced the night cycle in the new build, but I definitely like the fact that nobody seems to be complaining about it. I wonder if it's because the other issues are so major, or because it's actually improved. :P Anyway, I will wait and see how things develop. The current changes, while drastic, seem as though they are moving in the right direction, and I am sure that TPTB are perfectly capable of sifting through the comments in search of the valuable feedback needed to properly balance these changes.. can't wait to see what comes next! ;) -
[quote name=" vv211]as for me' date=' i'm still on 1.7.0. i usually see what people are saying about the updates before i decide to try them, or so i know what to watch out for. wasted a good couple hours in 1.7.1.1 looking for loot that doesnt spawn :P i also made a new folder on my desktop with backups from 1.7 and 1.7.1.1 so i can always switch back if i feel the need [/quote'] Yup.. 1.7.0 is the last version that worked for me, still playing it between failed attempts at loading the latest patches. Careful not to rename the addons folder and leave it in the @dayz folder, if you use six updater, it will delete the files inside.

I've got my 1.7.0 folder backed up still.. but I can't wait until the recent updates are more stable.. loading up 1.7.1.2 now.. I'm just happy that I'm still pretty new, so when I die, I only lose a few hours worth of gear.. If anything, I'm training myself for after the alpha phase is over with.. ;) edit: So I tried loading up a server, hud wasn't working, problem with weapons cfg, no zombies and I couldn't throw flares.. Same issue I had since 1.7.1 But I didn't get stuck at the black loading screen of doom, so that's good. :)

20 words or less: Spawning without a weapon
cyanyde replied to rocket's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
YES But only if melee weapons/attack is added. As it is now, it is very annoying to play without a weapon. IRL you could bash a zed over the head with whatever is laying around, it doesn't make sense that there aren't melee weapons already. (imho) Otherwise NO.
