    So tired of this

Click: -> Arma 2 1.60 patch. I had a similar problem on my home pc.. hoping this fixes it when I get there. My Arma 2 was up to date a few weeks ago, but I'm pretty sure I missed an update as my gaming rig is currently offline. :( Dunno, you said you were up to date, but maybe you missed something. 2. So some new player posted a perfectly reasonable question, and now some douchebags are going to point out how painfully (lol pun) obvious it is. Jokes on you though, trolls, it obviously wasn't obvious to him. Stop being dicks for no reason.. seriously. Do you guys even read the crap you write before you start frantically clicking post to get your shots in? Seriously. Just do us all a favour stop posting, if you can't be civil. Anyway, yes. If you are shaking then you need to take painkillers. There are plenty of other reasons that this could happen, some of them include potential bugs. Most games don't make you shake when you are in pain, so it's not obvious why it's happening.

    Respawn Timer

Can you guys please stop being dicks to the guy ffs? I'm sick of people having this retarded and childish attitude towards everyone that posts something they don't like. If you don't like the idea, say why. If you're just posting to be a dickhead. Don't! We've got a kick ass mod and a kick ass community, but there's always got to be the odd douche-bag who makes the rest of the community look like a bunch of assholes.. seriously. Like Bill and Ted said, be excellent to eachother. If you don't I'll find you in-game and shoot you in the face. Anyway, back on topic now. Had to get out my little rant. ;) I have to say I'm not a fan of the idea.. the thing is, the person who dies is usually the one who hesitated or simply didn't shoot. A spawn timer would punish the poor sod that just got killed for trying to be friendly, not the pvp'er/bandit who killed him. It's understandable why people get so up in arms when things like this are brought up, it's usually the kiddies who go around killing innocent players who moan and complain when somebody tries to mention punishments though.. Anyway, welcome to the forums, Chefmoto1, don't let a few bad apples spoil the whole damn bunch. ;)
  4. I reported it yesterday in the bug tracker.. You should register for it instead of posting here, it gets assigned an issue# that way and stuff. For example: https://dev-heaven.net/issues/37175 :)

How do you get to the NW Airfield?

I found a bike last night and holy crap is it ever nice not to have to walk everywhere. I stashed it in some trees when I logged out, I hope it's still there! :) I highly recommend finding one, if you can. It's not hard if you know where to look.. I actually prefer my bicycle over a car because it's quiet, and it only makes you thirsty which is easy to fix if you have a canteen. Other than that, you got no other choice besides your 2 feet and your heartbeat. ;)
  6. Honestly my only issue with zombies right now is when they stand around and don't agro at all. As mentioned, it's ridiculously easy to lose them at the moment, just run through some bushes and they get confused easier than a blind guy on a merry go round. :P I was running around one last night and he just stood there growling.. it was pretty pathetic, actually. ;)

    DayZ Stories

Not much of a story, but I figured here was the best place for this. I found a bike last night and proceeded to cruise around the various crash sites to see if I could find a heli. Anyway, after about an hour of setting waypoints and cruising around the major known crash sites, I finally found a helicopter. The only problem? Loot doesn't spawn when you're in a vehicle, so there was nothing there! I didn't realize why until I was miles away, and by then I was ready for bed so I had to log out.. tonight I will be picking up my quest, but I hope my bike is still there.. that thing is soooo much fun to ride around on! I swear its better than a car, the only drawback is that you get thirsty fast but its soo worth it! :)

    Hoarders and Bandits Beware

If I ever manage to repair/steal a chopper, I'm going to fly around until I find vehicle stashes, and then loot the hell out of them. Then I will destroy them and fly away, laughing like a loon! ;)

    Mountain Dew?

I found one last night. Second one I've seen in over 120 hours of DayZ.
  10. Um no. Sixupdater is a separate program that doesn't do anything I said up above.. Read the post again dude.. bet you feel a lot silly now, eh? :P I'm talking about a single exe file that gets updated with each major update. 1.5.0, 1.6.0, 1.7.0 etc.. You could still release hotfixes etc between builds, and these in turn could be packed in an exe installer, or applied manually/via six updater.
  11. Suggestion. Make an installer that has everything in one package and just needs to be double-clicked. Have it install the latest version of the mod, the latest compatible beta patch, and then edit launch options/replace armaoa.exe. When someone posts a bug or needs troubleshooting help, it would be as easy as asking what version they installed last, and telling them to update. (ok not really) I realize that this isn't really realistic at the moment, but it would ensure that everyone is on the same page and it would avoid a lot of problems. Ok, I'm dreaming.. carry on. :P
  12. Best thing I ever found on a dead survivor was cooked meat.. right when I needed it too. Of course he also had the knife, hatchet, matches and other gear that I needed, but I was low on blood and his misfortune was definitely my gain.

Should I risk going to electro?

Honestly it's not really worth it. You can get everything you need elsewhere, a hatchet seems to spawn everywhere and it's all you really need at the start. If you do go in for shits and giggles or whatever, store the Kobra and run around like every other fresh spawn until you find some good loot. Keep looting until you find an Alice pack, once you do, get the hell out of town. (keep in mind that players will kill you for stuff they want, if you look different than the other "fresh spawns" you'll stand out. Bottom Line: It's just as easy to find the stuff you'll need further North, and nowhere near as dangerous..
  14. ugh.. I wish the process was easier.. Every time there's a new beta update, I get more nervous than when I hear gunshots in Elektro :P

Never seen this before, a man on a map?

Usually another player shows up blue and is listed as 'survivor' or 'sniper' (if they are wearing a Ghillie suit) Orange dots are zombies.. scared the hell out of me once when I looked at my map and saw 3 orange dots pointed in my direction.. I thought I was being stalked. :P

    no entry.profile.path.default.

Yup, working fine on my laptop, but I can't play on my gaming rig.. :/ My Steam install is on D: if that makes any difference, other than that I'm running Steam version, 1.7.2.3 and beta 94876 My rig is more than adequate to play, quad core, 8gb ram, 1gbddr5 gpu etc.. I know it worked at 1.7.0, only having the problem after the update. Edit: I should also mention that I am doing this on an offline pc. I'm transferring files from my working build, installed on my laptop. To my desktop pc via network. I can only use my phone's wifi hotspot for Internet when I'm at home, at the moment I am playing on my laptop when I am at my gf's place. It is too costly to download files via my hotspot, so anything I need to download must be acquired at my gf's on my laptop, and then transferred over to my pc when I get home.

    Where should I go?

Going North isn't safe.. especially not if you're anywhere near the NWAF or any of the larger towns up there. There is no place that is truly safe in DayZ.. I got shot in the face in the middle of the woods in the northwest edge of the map once.. I figure I must have been getting close to a bandit camp site or something, but I was waaaaay far from the coast line and I let my guard down. Don't ever think you're safe. ;) This will help you find interesting things to do: http://dayzdb.com/map

    dayz loot finder

The only thing I have used is the single player mod, and the only reason I used it was because I didn't have Internet in my apt, and I wanted to get my DayZ fix. That said, it gets boring pretty fast when there are no other human players to potentially shoot you in the face.. It's cool for spawning a helicopter and checking out the area you are headed for, without the risk of getting shot in the face by a sniper.. but the risk vs. rewards in the mp are what make the game so intense. tl;dr What makes DayZ fun are the player interactions and finding new gear.. take that away and you're left with nothing but Arma2 with Zombies..

IF this was an actual game...

The only way I wouldn't pay for this game is with a monthly fee. My month to month financial situation varies, so I wouldn't be able to afford it every month. It's one of the main reasons I quit WOW and stuck with Guildwars in my mmorpg days. I would have no problem paying full retail, and even for occasional DLC, but monthly payments just doesn't fit into my budget. /my 2 cents

    Help

I can play on my laptop with just onboard video. It's fairly low in the fps department, but it's playable. I'm running Windows 7 with Core i3 2.1ghz CPU and 4gb ram. I would have to say it's basically the minimum, but if you've got a similar rig, it should work well enough to play.
  21. I have definitely noticed some issues with the zombie detection, after playing the update more. As mentioned, some of them will stand around and ignore you, and others that shouldn't have any idea that you're near, will coming randomly running from the hills to whatever cover or building you're using. There are some other minor things as well, but for the most part, it's been a great update! :)
  22. I've played both sides, and it usually depends on a bunch of things. If I'm newly spawned and I have no gear, and I run into another fresh spawn, I will team up until we find weapons. At that point, I'll usually go my own way, because I don't like being shot in the back. If I am fairly well geared up, and someone surprises me in a building or something, they will most likely be shot. If someone is yelling "friendly" in a major city, I will ignore them and leave the area as soon as I can. If I'm anywhere near the NWAF, or pretty much any other military type area, I will avoid contact any way I can. The only way i won't shoot is if you're: a. unarmed b. actively talking to me on direct chat and declaring friendly intent. c. a friend from rl, the forums, a group I'm with in vent/mumble etc.. I *will* help you if you're obviously injured, new, or out of food/drink, but afterwards I will usually go my own way as I said before, because again, I don't like being shot in the back. Finally. I will still kill you if you make any move that seems hostile, because dammit, this is the apocalypse! ;)
  23. If something like this happens, I want to build the Bat Cave! :) Digging out a shelter sounds a little too Minecraft though.. My guess would be npc survivors with some sort of trade system, and possibly some sort of quest thing. (Not really sure I like the quest thing but I doubt that part) Maybe you could rent a room in the converted sewers of Elektro or Cherno.. Or maybe outposts held by survivors and NPCs where you can hellp to fight off random hoards from time to time. I can think of all sorts of ideas, but I'm hoping Rocket comes up with something awesome that none of of us saw coming. ;) Dunno, it's starting to sound less like DayZ, and more like Stalker/Fallout. :P

    Best place to find tents?`

Supermarkets, Churches and pretty much any Residential building.
  25. Yeah I've been noticing the same sort of behaviour.I was just playing on a server at night time, and sometimes I could sneak right behind them, other times they came running at me from behind walls. They're pretty easy to confuse though, I actually ran around cherno with a hatchet at one point, and managed to do just fine, running around killing every zed I saw.. It was a fun life! :)
