Yeah, this key system might work just fine, but rather than each person spawning with 1 key to bound, would make more sense if each car had its own key, and the first one to reach it, would have de option to . And I think would be crap if you make impossible to people steal another person's car, so with a Toolbox, you could just hot-wire the car.

As this is a survival game, I think making players be more careful about hunger/thirst would be great addition to the atmosphere of survival and paranoia, not knowing if you'll have what to eat/drink in the next moment. So, the drop should be, IMHO, decreased. Besides, this mod atm has no direct objective or goal, and I'm not moaning about it. As a sandbox, it's fun is on exploration of the many features and content, playing as a bandit, building cars and etc, but I think the need of constant search for food/drink would enrich the gameplay experience, and maybe make people work more cooperatively (or not). I have some ideas, and I ask that please, if you disagree with it, just expose your arguments and let's have a healthy discussion, without all that hardcore or fanboysm crap. I dunno what's the DayZ backstory or if it explains well how did the epidemic happen, but in my opinion, would be nice if we had to deal with some kind of radiation in Chernarus, just like in Chernobyl for instance (Chernogorsk?). In this case, some stuff could be more availed: - Add a new icon in the HUD, a contamination meter. After exceeding X level, could work like sickness works atm. This level could be increased as you eat/drink.(and stay in some more infected area, like places with valuable loot, maybe) - To lower this level, another medicine could be necessary, or the addition of this effect to an existing one. - Allow the consumption of water in lakes without the canteen. (do you always need a glass when you want to drink water?) - Allow the use of empty cans to collect water, in a smaller quantity however, maybe 1/3 of the water bottle. This would add a new use to them, rather than distraction objetcs only. - Since you become a little more infected when you drink normal water, you could avoid this by boiling water in a campfire and make it pure, just like we do with raw meat. - New item: oxygen mask maybe? :P I know these ideas already exist in some post-apocalyptic games like Metro and Fallout, and DayZ don't need to copy them to be successful, but I think these mechanics could be a lot more availed in this awesome sandbox. New ideas, suggestions, constructive criticism are welcome. PS: And sorry for the english, not my native language, as you may realize.

We should be able to fill empty cans/bottles with 1/3 of what fits on the canteen atm. This would give a new use for these trash. And well, do you always need a glass to drink water? No. Another think to consider maybe.

It's Impossible to See at Night! - Other threads will be locked/deleted!

Yeah, as someone already said, we have a basic system like this with the tents. This would be really hard to work on, but worth the job, would be a significantly addition to the game, opening a variety of new objectives.

It's Impossible to See at Night! - Other threads will be locked/deleted!
legwiz replied to daish's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Nights should be like when it's 3~4a.m. in common nights ingame atm(this time is pre-dawn actually, dunno why), they're grey colored and you can see some things outside buildings, just like the nights IRL. -
Survival - Let's Turn this B#$%h up to 11
legwiz replied to dissaifer's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Not sure, but may be already in. Or I was just running so damn lost that i didn't notice time and my thirst indicator was empty again. And actually the rate is fine to me. But yeah man, I totally agree with you. After you explore the map and take all the good stuff, you still are human, would need to keep searching (more) for food/water, and would make gear so much more worthy. -
Can I suggest Kickstarter.com? In the last few months, it has been shown to be a effective way to raising founds, vide Wasteland 2 or the new Carmaggedon. With the visibility DayZ acquired until now, pretty sure this might work surprisingly fine. And talking about price, I'd easily pay the $30 I already spent just to play DayZ, or more.

20 words or less: Super-Low Humanity Detection
legwiz replied to rocket's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'm really against this KOS deathmatch, but it'll not fix the problem for itself. Adding visual cues would make it better, but YES. -
I know rocket has removed the bandit skin by saying he doesn't want to make things harder or punish anyone for their gameplay style, but think this way: Removing it doesn't do exctly the same to the ones who like co-op playing? For instance, I'm a survivor and like the PvP, without it this mod wouldn't have half the fun, but I also like forming groups, and have no friends playing together. Then, I found someone. Is he willing to kill, or to group-up? How can I possibly make friends and form parties, without even knowing what is his gameplay style, or his "reputation"? Will I ask him "friendly?". Words mean shit, the same guy who said that, may explode you head off in your back. This system, while does simulate a real life situation, punishes who wants to find someone to play with, forcing them to shoot on sight and "trusting no one". This is a game, and sometimes making it more "real" breaks the experience. IRL, we'd have other ways of meeting/dealing, like putting guns down and stuff, things we don't have here. And I don't see where you punish someone by changing their skin in murders. They said everyone would shoot them on sight, but now that's what happens to everyone, right? And please, no QQ bout how you are hardcore and like your game difficult, this is supposed to be a discussion thread.

Many other guys have posted with a opinion very similar to mine. Still belive the problem is the writer?

No' date=' not yet. And it's funny that everyone who manifest against the suggestions just tell to find another way to do things ingame, but don't expose clear arguments about how these changes would affect them negatively. I cannot see either how can things become worst in this point. [/quote'] I've given you clear and sound suggestions for some of your issues. As for PVP: Q: Turn PvP Off? A: No. PvP is a core part of the DayZ atmosphere and we aren't going to restrict it. Just go inland away from the built up towns along the coast where players spawn. ^ Taken directly from the Forum FAQ. Now, what other grievances do you wish to air. I might add that starting threads about the community , that are essentially PVP moaning threads is a bit underhanded. There is a formal PVP thread on the forums for this. Ok, last time quoting a last-posts thread reader, who incredibly understood SHIT of what has been discussed until some posts ago.

Every time you post on this topic' date=' you're sure Rocket is going to start penalizing players for engaging in PVP. I sure as hell hope you're wrong because that goes against the idea of a sandbox entirely. [/quote'] I may not agree with a system punishment to a game style either, it would limit it. I think, if something needs to be done against a gamestyle that is being repudiating by most, it shall be done ingame, by the other players. Oh wait, who am I going to kill? The first guy I encounter with? And if he is not a murderer? I will kill for nothing. Ok, I'm gonna be friendly. Well, sad for me, he put a bullet in my head while I was trying to say hi. He indeed was not willing to kill me, but he thought I WERE a murderer, and there were nothing that could told him the opposite, nothing but my word, that worths as much as the words from the real murderers. Just clairying that this is encounter of two "willing to group up" persons. Oh wait again, if he was a bandit by the very first, nothing would change. That's where it limits the gameplay. And no, me and a bunch of other players don't have outside game friends. So what? Now this is another requirement, besides a nasa pc to play this game at 60fps?
-
Yes' date=' and this is completely common to me, and it's not even near the real focus of this thread. So keep impossible to group up ingame is fine to you, but having someway to recognize people intentions or even reputation is limiting gameplay? There is no "too much trust" problem that you say so, it's just otherwise, no one trusts nobody. I don't see how can you play with someone else without giving the minimum amount of trust. I think the extreme of the sides are just not good. The real situation is: I try to kill him, because he thinks I will try to kill him. And this way, two persons that would be willing to group up, kill each other, capiche? I thought I made it clear when I said that, even though I like to group up, of course I also like to PvP. I just don't like when I kill someone that would not harm me or vice-versa, without having a "clue", when other gameplay styles succeed to dirty even a player's word, and a "friendly" means nothing. One person experience doesn't make statistics.

Yeah, that is the point. Even with a surrender system, life means nothing to anyone. The only difference between you before death and you after death is your gear, and the guy who killed you could get these with both actions. Which one do you think they would choose? My shot is the most quick and funny. I don't agree with the guy whose nick I don't remind that said my first post was half lies, even though I'll not call him a liar. First, talking about your so desired realistic level: What would make me preserve another person life in a real zombie apocalipse (if that is possible)? Well, just like is in the game, it's just a shot and everything he owns it's yours, but is one less human of few, and we know that nobody, in a real situation, would like to stay alone (saving for annoying/dangerous people). You want some reality? Make just one life forever. You die, you quit, you throw 30 bucks on the trash. Of course this will never be implemented and I don't like it neither, but I bet if everyone you kill never return again, the solo game would be veeeery boring, and life would really worth. Unless someone likes to play PvE and kill zeds, but then I would recommend RE or something.. Second: You cannot put your guns to the ground and have a fair talk in a functionable system nowadays. And yes, most of unknown players fire first and ask later. You probably thinks different because: you are surrounded by acquaintances, or lucky to meet very friendly people until now. And if there were no problems of shoot on sight with bandits before the change, why did they change? And now this is a general issue. The thing is: like someone said, it's hard to find ingame fellas to play with. I'm not criticizing murderers, neither the PvP (best thing), just the difficulty of forming ingame groups. Cause now I kill every guy I see, i don't know about his intentions, and so do he about mine. Would be nice to get a clue on it, and since nick reputation doesn't work (where should I search about? Which one of the hundreds of servers?), this is the only thing I see. EDIT: Read WalkerDown's post by now and it figures perfectly from what i meant with "too much reality in something that doesn't have the same weight and importance and consequences like in reality".

It's not a 'philosophy', it's a fact. He's telling the OP what an alpha is. This is how games are made. Because, you know, games aren't buildings. If you have a problem with the fundamental structure of game design, go found a company, come up with some new way to do it, ignoring all the lessons of the last three decades, and let us know how it works out for you. Man, I hate it when people argue from ignorance. Can somebody explain to me why new content masses the current one? I mean, the code that is fixed, should stay this way. New features are exactly what the names says to me, it's something new, that interacts with the environment in general, but aside. And calm down, the guy did realize the game is in alpha (how could he not? it's almost a war shout 'round here), he just questioned the focus things are getting on the development.
