What about a coal mine? A coal mine under a rural setting makes perfect sense. Here in PA we have miles upon miles of coal tunnels in the metro area as well as rural.

*sigh* Once again. Look for a whitelisted server. Do a google search for Dayz PvE servers. They exist. Good day sir.

DayZ Devs Toyed With F2P Model for Standalone Release
fubar_in_pittsburgh posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Just stumbled upon this- From http://www.escapistm...ndalone-Release MIKE WEHNER | 27 MARCH 2013 6:33 PM The cult zombie survival mod had a chance to go free-to-play in its retail iteration. At his "Designing DayZ" panel today at GDC in San Francisco, DayZ lead Dean "Rocket" Hall revealed that after the decision was made to move forward with a standalone title, the team put some serious consideration into using the free-to-play publishing model. "I looked at signing with a lot of companies, and a lot of them were really interested in free-to-play. And we're talking about a lot of money, like, stupid money. I just felt like - I just knew it wouldn't work," Hall explained. "It was because DayZ is about survival. You can't buy your way into that. If you buy your way into that, you're hijacking it." Hall and his team are currently working with Bohemia Interactive on the standalone DayZ title, which - if the recent developer blogs are any indication - appears to be a very pure representation of the mod that has already garnered over 1.7 million players. No firm release date on the standalone version is currently available, but the game is currently in its alpha testing phase. -

Can't we just agree that people both young and old can be rude sociopathic douche bags?

That would be cool as would character classes like in a traditional RPG (meaning pen and paper RPS's).

I miss the old dayz..
fubar_in_pittsburgh replied to Sindrings (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Anyone else think all this "i miss the old DayZ" that has popped up on the forum all of a sudden is a bunch of WarZ people trolling? -
And then you have some.... I think two of my favorite HP Lovecraft quotes are needed- "Life is a hideous thing" & "From even the greatest of horrors irony is seldom absent."

Simply say "anyone in _____?" or "any friendlies in ______?" Anyone who does not wish to be KOS will answer, anyone you see in the next couple of minutes if they did not shout back, it is most likely because they were trying to sneak around you and kill you. Say over direct chat, "friendly?" No reply= shoot. If person was a noob this is a harsh lesson in how this game is played. We all have to learn that lesson sooner or later. And to people who do not wish to be KOS please give a shoutout when entering a new area.

Hallucinations and hearing things that aren't there.

I'm sure many players who are bandits heard voices long before DayZ came around. -
Why do you shoot unarmed players?
fubar_in_pittsburgh replied to maninthewall's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
When I see another player, if they don't have a bandit skin I salute. If it is a person with a bandit skin, I either run or try to communicate via direct chat. If I'm fired upon I usually run. If escape is not possible I fire. If person is still alive after being shot and is unconscious, i flee. I don't finish them off. ... and that policy had led to my death many many times. But, as Dale said on The Walking Dead- "This world, what it is now, this is where you belong. And I may not have what it takes to last for long, but that's okay. 'Cause at least I can say when the world goes to s***, I didn't let it take me down with it." -
Night Of The Living Dead. Dawn Of The Dead. The Walking Dead. Some of the greatest zombie tales ever told. And in all of them the real threat to the survivors is OTHER SURVIVORS.

For the love of god and all that holy, really? Really? You did not see this coming? It never dawned on you that a game that is popular would eventually get some obnoxious kids joining in? What did you expect? The game in on Steam now so of course you are going to see a lot of new players. Why don't you do the mature thing? Join a whitelisted server and remember that not that long ago you were a kid playing a game and older players probably thought the same about you.

Searched for this topic. Could not find any thread like it. Sorry to moderator if this topic does exist. So. DayZ began it's life as a mod for ARMA 2 as we all know. But what sort of mods could be born from DayZ Stand alone? I know I have a few ideas. Bikers Vs Zombies being one. What are yours?

Day Z SA Mods?
fubar_in_pittsburgh replied to fubar_in_pittsburgh's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Life will find a way. I was about to bring HL2 up! Great example. Also Left 4 Dead 2 always is a top seller on Steam and the workshop has made it even more popular. ... meaning we will probably never see a Left 4 Dead 3... ... aww man. -

DayZ Alpha won't launch until launched !
fubar_in_pittsburgh replied to willey.erd@oundleschool.org.uk's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Am I upset I have to wait until June? Yes. Am I upset they are taking more time to fix things before it's alpha release? Hell no! I was worried that the game would just suddenly appear on Steam at any moment as the only release date info I could find online said either late 2012 or first quarter 2013. And I was kinda afraid to ask about that on this forum as the subject seemed to be taboo. I'm happy we got this news. AND this is good news! Especially after the War Z fiasco. With zombie popularity rising (heh heh) I could see a game developer rushing a game out and fixing the bugs later (if ever). Mr. Hall has proven to me and to the rest of the gaming world that he actually gives a crap about the game he is putting out, and also the gaming community that follows him. Lets face it, 99% of game makers are only motivated to make a quick buck. And seeing a developer take their time rather then make a quick buck is rare. Good for you DayZ devs! We who are about to die salute you! -
Random but VERY rare Meteor Showers
fubar_in_pittsburgh replied to ZappingZombies's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Or the meteor shower could distract all the zombies like the fireworks did in Land Of The Dead. -
Why do the Zombies run? ZOMBIES SHOULD NOT RUN AT ALL!!! c.c
fubar_in_pittsburgh replied to SoulHunter (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yeah I'm having flashbacks of EVERY horror movie forum flame war that started due to the Dawn Of The Dead remake having running zombies. That was.... 2004?!?! Christ I'm getting old. I'm a fan of the "shambling" zombie. It worked in a game like Resident Evil. But in a game like this with a HUGE open world, the only thing that could make the game interesting with slow moving zombies is if you had 100 times more zombies in the map. I doubt doing that is possible. -

fubar_in_pittsburgh replied to ZappingZombies's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
A lot of zombie films use a meteor as the reason for the dead rising. What if a meteor caused mass zombie spawns?
