  1. Slugfoot

    Adding true horror to Dayz.

Body bags starting to move and follow you (caterpillar style) around hospitals, etc. ...Or maybe not.
  2. Slugfoot

    Homemade explosives and traps

Nice. Any chance of a link? :)
  3. I thought Rocket mentioned some time ago that this was being looked into? Dropping grenades from helicopters might be cool, too. :)

I'd be interested to know the actual percentage of servers that do operate a day and night cycle and the reasons why people do or don't play on them.

Lol. I don't play the game (yet) so I don't know how many servers are set up in permanent daylight. (Kinda goes against the whole 'realism' thing, IMO.) I just read around the forums and saw that folks seemed to covet NVG's and thought this might be a good alternative until a player gets some. Perhaps if stuff such as this were more obtainable then people might want to play in the dark more, maybe....I dunno.

I'm closer to the senile end of the spectrum. ;)

Correct. Though, I think a powerful conventional lamp with an IR filter over the lens would do, too.

Not hand-held ones, though I imagine they must exist. I've seen small security cameras with IR LED's around them for sale on Ebay:- http://www.ebay.co.u...=item2ec3d86d0c Problem is, led's are weak and I think some of them glow in the dark - which would be undesirable ingame, I think.

    Ahem....

@mZLY....The suggestion is somewhat different from NVG's and night scopes which work on an entirely different principle altogether (image intensification)....Although, NVG's and night scopes can also see stuff illuminated by infrared light. (Night scopes I used in the military also came with an IR torch attached to them.) This is essentially a 'poor man's night vision' which would enable visibility of stuff within the range of the IR light source, it doesn't work by amplifying low levels of available ambient light. The advantage over a regular flashlight is that other players would not be able to see the light. It's probably best suited to creeping around buildings or woods, etc. in the pitch dark rather than sniping people at a distance. - If you wanted to, say, ambush someone in the dark from a distance then you could 'plant' the IR light source at the appropriate spot and then watch from a distance through the camera.

Yep. I suspect this is because there's a filter behind the lens blocking the IR light from getting to the sensor. I don't know the reason as to why they do this. I suspect it's to try to ensure that the image taken is more faithful to what you actually see with the eye instead of picking up extraneous light from IR sources like security lights, etc.....Who knows?

I remember that guide from a while ago. :) It's not quite what I'm suggesting. My idea is little more than taping an IR torch to a digital camera of some sort and viewing via the LCD display. I thought this would be more practical since there's no soldering or fiddling with circuit boards required.

I'm not sure I understand. Are you confusing the hurricane lamp thread with this one, perhaps?
  14. Slugfoot

    Hurricane/paraffin lamps.

They're also called barn lamps in some parts. I understand there are plenty of those in the mother land. Also, the flame (and therefore brightness is adjustable to a certain extent). I made the suggestion because I thought it might add variety to the game. If the idea is impractical or not really worth bothering with then it's no biggie.
  15. Ghillies seem to be quite sought-after items but (I think) not the sort of thing one would just find lying around given the Chernarussian scenario, so why not make them craftable? Possible ingredients:- Flight suit (From dead or zombified aircrew). Camo netting (Often talked about here in suggestions so why not put it to other uses as well if it makes it into the SA?). Glue or string for attaching the netting (Available at all good shops, supermarkets, etc.) Hessian/burlap sacking (Found all over the place, particularly farm sheds, etc,). Paint / spray paint and/or boot polish (Again found in various places). Rifle camo could easily be crafted from just hessian and maybe some paint for added effect. Just a thought... :)
