What's your Favorite MOD for this MOD
CS14 replied to xalienax's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Overwatch for the time being. Like it more than Breaking Point as it is less buggy (somewhat) with a few changes here and there like extra buildings. One of the main things I like about Overwatch in general is the larger selection of weapons on top of the sound mods that come along with them. -
Taken from DayZ Overwatch

Because hearing kids who sound like they should still be playing Call of Duty is annoying when you are trying to relax and get into the game.

Try playing some DayZ Overwatch.

Personally I wouldn't do it if I were in your shoes.

Very nice video! Looking forward to seeing the next episode. -
If you could go back to being a noob, would you?
CS14 replied to colekern's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yes I would. DayZ seemed like a totally different experience when I first started playing (as did any game for that matter, really) and the littlest things like a Lee Enfield seemed like the best thing in the game to me. -
Any, Disturbing things you have, "Witnessed"

Best grammar nazi ever (/sarcasm) Too many commas. Too many periods. The first letter of every word in a title is supposed to be capitalized. But surely a grammar nazi like yourself should know these things. -
How Did You First Become a Bandit?
CS14 replied to TheRaptorFence's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I don't remember the exact moment or moments I decided to be a full out bandit but have a general overview of how it happened. As most have done I started off trying to be that guy that was always friendly and looking to help others, aspiring to be a hero eventually, only to shortly realize it was harder than it seemed. I've lost count of how many times I would tell someone I was friendly only to have them immediately shoot me on sight or wait til I least expect their betrayal. Part of the reason that lead to me going towards bandit would be due to how flawed the humanity system is. Lets say someone shoots at you or even hits you and you try to defend yourself, what happens? You loose humanity, even if you're not the one who fired the first shot or even deserved it for that matter. Just like the betrayals, I've lost count of how many times my humanity suffered just from shooting people in self defense. As these things happened more and more, I started not trusting people I didn't know or play with regularly which led to my humanity gradually getting lower and lower. By this time I had accepted the fact that I will always be a bandit on public hives and decided to go full out hunting players and committing other acts of banditry. -

For recommendations as to which servers to play I suggest 1992, 1993, and 3480. Hardly notice hackers on those three and when I do they are usually taken care of swiftly.

I actually had one figured out for a similar resolution (1360x768) and posted it somewhere on these forums. I'll edit this post with it once I find them. --------- Edit: fovTop=1.03;fovLeft=1.83; Calculated using the guide from this thread: http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/31609-ultimate-fov-field-of-view-guide-for-arma-2-and-dayz-from-dayzpvpcom/page-3 Really easy to figure out, shouldn't be too much different if at all I would think. Hope this helped.

Your favorite high populated server?
CS14 replied to Jimmy McNulty's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
US 1992 & 1993 US 3480 -
Yes there are still hackers out there but personally I don't really seem to notice them often and I play on 2-3 public hives mainly. Yes to there still being a big player base on pretty much most versions of DayZ. I'd say it's still worth playing.

I voted sometimes as most of the time a simple 1v1 PvP situation will not get the adrenaline pumping like versing a large group would. Most recent one that I can think of would be when me and a few other people decided to start playing Breaking Point again and camped up at Devil's Castle for a bit. While we were there we noticed a heli circling around us and didn't seem to have seen us (was nearly pitch black out). As it was circling around two people jump from the helicopter and parachute their way down. As they were coming down I could have (and should have) easily taken them out as they were landing but figured they had not seen us yet and would be better to 'surprise' them as they entered. My buddy and I ran to cover the gate while the other person we were playing with camped the top of the tower with his sniper rifle. Right as they start running towards the gate we decided to fire at them which then lead to a stand off that seemed to last for a good half hour to an hour. All while this was going on the helicopter they dropped out of was hovering above us so my buddy and I started firing at the pilot while he was hovering. Next thing you know our buddy at the top of the tower takes a good shot at the pilot and moments later the helicopter crashes into the tower that he was sniping in. Now that our sniper was trapped within the destroyed tower, it was up to us at the gate to finish the others. As time passes my buddy gets shot from behind out of nowhere. Right as that happens I quickly turn and finish the guy who shot him. Turns out one of the players that was at the gate decided it would be a good idea to ghost us. Right after I get done gunning him down the other one rushes towards me and we kill each other at the same time like something you would see in a movie.

Heard about it through friends and saw game play videos on YouTube. First thing I did after ordering the parts to my PC earlier this year was buy ArmA 2 Combined Ops in anticipation for installing DayZ. If it wasn't for DayZ I probably wouldn't have became interested in ArmA as well. Playing ArmA regularly is fun as well as playing Wasteland once DayZ starts to get boring.

Probably going to get it for saying it but I'd have to say Frankie and Jack. Even though Frankie's play style is totally different from mine and there is a big controversy about how he obtains some of the gear and does so well (I agree to certain things to an extent), it's still interesting to watch his videos. I like his older ones more than I do his newer ones, but it's just a personal preference. Jack's videos are nice as well.

A few things fun to do in DayZ: Play with a large sized group on a nearly full public hive. The best thing to do with a group of people on a public hive is to go around mercilessly hunting down other players or luring them into traps where you can then make them your bitch should they choose to live and play along. Try playing with absolutely no backpack, using only what you can fit in your inventory. Adds a whole new concept to DayZ when you must make do with the bare-minimum. Making the decision between carrying extra ammo, food, or medical supplies can be challenging when you feel like you do not have enough of anything.
-
For public hives: If you're not with me, you're against me. I do not take chances with other players in DayZ anymore. It's easier to just simply kill anyone that comes across you rather than let them pass and eventually kill you or try to befriend them and have them turn on you moments later. For private-hives: I'll try to be as friendly as I can considering a good majority of the time people on private hives are the same way. 90% of my time on DayZ is spent playing on public hives.

Two other people and I had AS50s with a decent amount of ammo and gear decided it would be fun to run down sniper hill in electro doing rolls while another person shoots near them to mess around. The other two people didn't get shot at all while we were messing around. Right as I am about to do it for the first time, I say "watch, it's going to be me that ends up accidentally getting shot and dying". Can you guess what happens next? Oh, and did I mention that this was on a live stream too?

2-3 different public hives a majority of the time.
