This. :beans: It's fine the way it is, IMO. You shouldn't have to depend on a game to tell you if someone is friendly or not, especially with how flawed it was in the mod to begin with. Shooting back at a survivor who shot you first still affected your humanity in a negative way, which led to many people appearing to be bandits when that wasn't the case. The best way to know if someone is friendly or not is to simply not trust anybody you are not playing with. Problem solved. Now that doesn't necessarily mean kill the person because you don't trust them (I simply do, other people may not), you could always just be very cautious when around them and order them to drop whatever they have, back away, etc. Another thing about the whole "hero" and "bandit status"... During the time I spent playing the mod and browsing these forums I laughed at how many people would sit there and bitch about how bandits and other players would kill them on sight, then they would turn around and say how they shoot people with the bandit skin on sight. Bitch about being killed on sight, then go and do it to others (who may not have even actually been bandits, due to the flawed system). Logic not even once.

Would love to find a press vest, have yet to see one. Where do you guys typically find them? I feel like I've had every vest BUT the press one.

Going to test out the guide and see how those settings are, at least until I get my GTX 660 OC. Kind of ironic that a person with that good of a computer is making a video guide about achieving more FPS.

Be happy they are working on the game as a whole. Just because it's something you feel you don't need or want does not mean it is not much. Some people are just never happy..

Is that?...Yes.. it is.. a crashed helicopter (scenery)... Hiding from another player under a boardwalk... Was aiming the flashlight right at the boardwalk and didn't even notice me. Outside Balota... Scary motherfucker just staring at me in one of the Balota hangars... My first gun (no ammo, sadly) Bandaging myself with a torn shirt. I wonder what these are used for Scariest hospital I have ever been in.

Now before I get people bitching and moaning that night time is part of the game play and what not, let me go ahead and say that I have zero problems playing at night and I am not one of those who likes to turn up their brightness & gamma. Anyways... since the standalone has been released I have gotten to play when it's bright out for what I'd say is around 30 minutes, max. Since I've bought it, which was still bright as day my time, I have found nothing but night server after night server after night server .Even now it's only a little after 3PM my time and every server I connect to is dark. What's the day/night cycle? Any day servers that someone knows of at the moment that wouldn't mind sharing? To reiterate: I have zero problems playing at night and I am not one of those who likes to turn up their brightness & gamma, I just don't want to constantly be playing at night, especially when it is bright as day IRL my time.

I've been connecting to US East & West coast servers and still nothing.

Anyone else thinking of eventually starting a server? Briefly had my own for a month or so for the mod a while back, thinking about starting one up for a short period of time on the standalone, eventually. What are your thoughts?

I'm thinking of putting one up either on my buddy's dedicated that he rents or renting a really cheap one myself.

Anything against this? Some games typically don't like their alpha game play uploaded (even though it usually is anyways). Don't recall seeing anything regarding this so if I missed it pardon me.

My first encounter involved two people, both hitting me. Some how managed to take them both out and kill them, unfortunately. Really trying to turn over a new leaf now that the standalone is out and not kill players unless absolutely necessary.

This. Eagerly waiting for it to finish downloading, which should be a little under 20 minutes left. Soon as I get in game I'm going to run around like an idiot for the first hour or so, then as I get more used to it I'll start playing smarter and more cautiously.
