Trust is quite and odd thing when it comes to DayZ. There has been times where I've ran into a large group of the friendliest players, and there have been times where I've ran into groups of the most un-friendly players. It really just depends on how the situation is approached. Most definitely if you startle someone by running up to them with a gun pointed you are going to get shot. Typically if the other person doesn't say friendly first and just immediately starts taking aim at you as you are moving around, that is a good indicator that they are not friendly. In the mod I remember seeing some kind of statement like "every player is friendly until you put a weapon in their hand" which is true for the most part, although now players will just run up to you while you are fully geared and try to punch you.

Anyone use Shadowplay to record their dayz action?
CS14 replied to Johnny Depth's topic in General Discussion
Figured since it stated on the page where you downloaded it that it supports DirectX9+ it should theoretically work with any game. Have not had any issues with it running in the background and have played some old games. -
I'm not saying don't post if you don't agree. I stated it so those who feel to post smart ass comments that are always found around these forums. Someone always has something smart to post around here and am quite frankly getting sick of it.

Actual high sloped hills, sure, keep it the way it is. Those hills with a slight increase that still manage to slow you down, definitely needs to be fixed. I see what you are saying and agree, but a lot of the time it's not that much of a slope that slows you down to begin with. I could understand something like going up one of the various mountains around the map being quite slow.

Keep your sarcastic comments off this thread and stop trying to cause something.

Anyone use Shadowplay to record their dayz action?
CS14 replied to Johnny Depth's topic in General Discussion
ShadowPlay is probably the best program I've used so far when it comes to recording. If you want absolute perfect un-compressed quality when recording then you're probably better off with FRAPS. If you are okay with slightly compressed quality and want to play with practically no performance loss then ShadowPlay is the way to go. It's pretty simple. Want to record something that just happened that you forgot to record? Hit Alt+F10 (default key) to save it and it will automatically save the last pre-defined amount of minutes configured (default is 5). It also has the ability to manual record for as long as you see fit, also without a performance loss. And those saying it's not technically supported, actually it is. ShadowPlay is designed to work on any DX9+ game. -
If you're not going to contribute anything logical to the discussion why bother posting?

100man servers... my biggest fear has been realised.
CS14 replied to Cenobyte's topic in General Discussion
Not everything has to be "Call of Duty". I swear most people call something call of duty if it doesn't go their way. Who said anything about spawning behind your back? I'm sure the devs would be smart enough to implement some sort of system so you wouldn't spawn on others if they were to implement random spawning, which I personally think is a good idea. Spawning outside the coast would give others who like to stay on the coast an opportunity to realize there is more to the game than sitting there and PvPing along the coast line. It'd also make it harder on those who like to sit there and camp people who literally just spawned for god knows what reason. -
Technically it is not impossible. It doesn't necessarily have to be sprinting, but it should definitely not be as slow as it is now. Even the slightest inclines seem to slow the player down when it comes to moving up hill.
-
The simplest answer: Someone who doesn't play the way others want them to. Too many people on these forums try to dictate how others should play and if it's not somewhat close to how they feel people should play, they are automatically branded a bandit.
-
Downhill, yes, but not necessarily up hill. Still it should be faster than it is now. Surely someone that can sprint infinitely without negative effects like our characters should be able to go up a hill.

How come the NW airfield is just about the safest place on the map atm?
CS14 replied to naraga's topic in General Discussion
I'd say it is still quite the hotzone if you are playing on servers that have a decent amount of people. Already ran into groups of players there a few times as well as other lone stragglers. -
100man servers... my biggest fear has been realised.
CS14 replied to Cenobyte's topic in General Discussion
I think the more players, the better. If people want to do nothing but get blasted every few seconds in the cities then that is their issues, won't bother me any. I'll try out the higher pop servers once some kind of loot/zombie re-spawning is implemented. Until then it is perfect the way it is now. -
Neutral safe zones that physically prevent combat
CS14 replied to alleycat's topic in General Discussion
No. No. No. No. This would ruin the whole aspect of DayZ and as others have mentioned it would turn into a camp fest for those leaving these so called safe zones. If you've ever played WarZ/Infestation or seen videos you would see it happens quite frequently there. You think KoS and banditry is bad now? Wait til' you see what would happen if something like this was implemented. -

Are you good at finding players from gun sounds?
CS14 replied to crazyandlazy's topic in General Discussion
Exactly. There's been a time where a member in the group I play with was actually shot, heard it, however my buddy and I who were literally right beside him did not hear a thing. -
Are you good at finding players from gun sounds?
CS14 replied to crazyandlazy's topic in General Discussion
Well considering gun sounds are fucked up that's going to be a solid no. There have been times where I'll be playing with my surround sound headset and my buddy that is to the side of me will shoot yet it sounds like it came from the other direction, even though he is right next to me. Not to mention you always hear the random reloading, drinking, and other sounds out of the blue. -
PvE only ruins the whole aspect of DayZ. It's more than just surviving zeds, it's also surviving others. What, you think if shit hits the fan everyone is going to be friendly and live in perfect harmony when it's not even like that now-a-days?

IMHO sever hopping is just as bad as it was before. In all reality 5-30 minutes of waiting really is not that bad. How? Simple. Log onto an empty server and spend a good half hour searching one of the airfields or other military bases. By the time you are done it should be roughly a half hour. After a half hour of game play just switch to another server and poof, no more wait timer. Even then five minutes really isn't that bad for those who just keep hopping after a few minutes of looking.

Although I always found my self going into 1st person frequently while playing on regular servers I am starting to get more into hardcore servers. After turning up the FoV to 90 through the config (cause let's face it, we can see wider than the default FoV realistically anyways) it's much more better. It'll be even better when mouse acceleration can actually be disabled (before someone says it; none of the CoD fan boy accusation shit. Just because something isn't the way you feel it should be doesn't mean it's CoD-ish.).

Yes, killed a few of them. My favorite, although he may have crashed and may have not been necessarily combat logging, was when my buddies and I were roaming around the outskirts of Berezino and we had no idea where we kept getting shot at from. Shortly after I noticed a player not too far behind us just sit down out of no where with the gun we thought we were getting shot at with (Mosin). Let's just say he had a nice surprise when he logged back in.

Hotfix changelog: Stable Branch: 0.35.115188
CS14 replied to mattlightfoot's topic in News & Announcements
Motion blur is something you can turn down or off completely in your settings. Now if it was choppy or generally did not seem smooth with it enabled you may have been experiencing FPS lag. -
