mmmm what? -
Yesterday I played the Mod after 200 hours of Standalone.

every fucking thing in this game is said to be a placeholder, that's not an excuse for anything. and surplus mosins are at least 80 year old, its design is 123 years old, exactly. -

what's your rank and where did you serve? -
they do have holes, or you think the crew doesnt need to breath while inside it? The main vehicle on the Communication Base that i server on brazillian army have holes in the top for air circulation and 11 barrel 'doors' in the sides and back, so the crew can shoot infantry with their rifles. And they dont have special tires, as a dumb recruit popped a tire of one of them when playing with his rifle while guarding the base. (Fucking conscripts, man) just to illustrate: That's the kind of armored vehicle i'm suggesting here, exposed gunner, vulnerable tires that you can shoot out and disable the vehicle. They're pretty much a vodnik. anything more than this would be too much. This is not a tank, ofc, more like a LAV or Infantry transportation vehicle.

they are muskets and they are novelty items. Why would any dickhead use a one shot .50 subsonic musket when you basically swim in mosin nagants and cheap ammo in russia? I dont even think black powder is that common outside US, as it haves NO upsides to using smokeless regular ammo. Stop with this idea that just because you like a gun, it should be in the game. That's not how it works, nor how it should.

oh dear, now you're clearly showing that you have no clue what you're talking about, and you're just mad at the snipers that kill you while you stand in the open in elektro or something. balancing should and will be avoided as much as it can be. Snipers are supposed to be 'unfair', just learn to avoid being hit by them, it's not that hard, friend. -

what the fuck is the "average survivor"? have you ever used a gun in your life before? it's not rocket science, stop making assumptions that the "average survivor" would have parkinsons and all the weapons on the game should have a corroded 20º angle barrel that woul make the shots go all over the place. It just isnt like this. You cant hit shit past 300~400 meters with iron sights, but with scopes it's ridiculously easy to hit targets in the 300-600m range. Putting randomness in the ballistics is the lazy man way out to correcting the unrealistic character behavior. just make the weapon sway more while kneeled or standing, make the weight of the weapon affect the time that you can stabilize your gun while looking down the sights. implement decent ballistics (with wind and elevation) and make long range shooting only possible while prone. There's no such thing as "shoot more and hit less". People that get spotted deserve to die, first of all. Making weapons accuracy crappy will only make the game more lame than it already is with the terrible ballistics that are in place now. -

and again, you yell "alpha". Takes no genius to see that the game development is going on a very different way than the mod, with arcade ballistics, 'enchanted' attachments, pinpoint accuracy 130 year old guns, punches that hurt more than a fireaxe, etc. -

mod had low, medium and high tier guns. For the first we had lee enfields, winchesters that we could find in barns, etc, then we had the m4's and AKs/AKMs tha spawned in fire stations and deer stands, and then we had the high tier that only spawned in the airfields and chopper crashes. It drew people up that had enough gear up north, where you would get squad fights, ambushes, etc. In standalone you can find a m4 in a supermarket or a construction site, without plans of modifying it anytime soon (AKA they'll not even look at it till beta, and that's a loooooong way). It's just stupid. In 1.8 they kinda screwed up the loot system, put too much food and drink in, made the game too easy. -
ever heard of virtual machines, smartass? lel

AKA people who played the mod in vanilla public hive times. Back when cherno was full of people yelling friendly followed by makarov and double barrel shots, and in north there was a land full of dangers, m107's, crashed choppers and adrenaline-soaked firefights. Things that the standalone will never ever be able to achieve. -
there's a group of people on these forums that comment against anything related to guns being added in game. I'm so full of this "KOS" bullshit that i adopted this play style, i'll lurk around here a bit, count how many posts with KOS or Deathmatch in it i see, and i'll multiply them for 5 and use the resultant amount as a goal of dead bambies by the end of the day. and @ topic I wouldnt like these rare novelty weapons, i'm already against that 308 white-elephant pistol that they plan on adding, let alone some 100 year old design musket. I want improvised muskets into the game, that you'll have to cast lead balls to use as its ammunition, and maybe craft the powder.

Yeah, cause no one uses scoped weapons for hunting, only lead ball muskets and bows, right? You better be joking. And @ topic That a big motherfucking NO. The fact that you'll die for a simple mistake you make is what makes the game so brutal. This is not cod where you can take 5 shots to the chest and regenerate faster than wolverine, IRL weapons are much more accurate than they are in game and you'll die without knowing from if you're not careful. Even a badly shaped mosin will hit a man target at ~400 meters if your sights are on. Damn man, so much fucking casuals and carebears on these forums nowadays, i feel that most of the community want the game to be an open world cod/wow with zombies. They want less weapons, less weapon accuracy, easier zombies, more random mechanics, what's next? aim assist? -
wont happen, and there wont be more than 30 zombies per city EVER. Just deal with it. The engine cant handle it, doesnt matter how much they try to milk it to cut costs.
-
Let's laugh at all these carebears that are lurking the forums, cause if we would listen to them, we wouldnt have guns or weapons in the game, because "weapons make people KOS". After reading some replies at this topic, i'll go slaughter 20 more bambies on the coast before i go to sleep. Good night.
-
Of course things like Anti Material rifles would have to be implemented to combat these vehicles. But these vehicles and the weapons used against them need to be super rare and hard to get parts/ammunition for. just shoot the tires out then cook the insiders with some molotovs. Use your brain FFS. Vehicles with wheels are vulnerable even with tons of armor.
-
again: Where the fuck did you read that i want tanks on the game. I said i want APCs, maybe LAVs, preferably without guns, or with a m240/m2 max. whatever...
-
first of all, how would someone rob another person without anything to threat them with? Do you want to turn this game into a wow with zombies? for fucks sake, if you dont want pvp, go play WoW or hello kitty online. From now on, for every time i read KoS or DeathMatch on these forums, i'll log in and kill 5 bambies on the back after offering them food.
-
"The name "tank" was adopted by the British during the early stages of their development, as a security measure to conceal their purpose." The real name for armored vehicles is combat cars/vehicles. So a LAV, APC or whatever can be called a tank, but as this can cause confusion and almost no one uses the proper name, they use the name tank only to heavy armored vehicles that run on treads. And it was you that started this nonsense sensationalism with your "tanks? what then? jets? submarines? derp". If you're not going to contribute to the topic, just leave. We're having a decent discussion here, bringing balancing and facts to the table. Your personal opinion have absolutely no value to this discussion.
-
i agree with that.
-
you really lack arguments, dont you? "Tank" is just a generic word people use to describe an armored vehicle. But ok, keep with your sensationalist approach to this discussion, it saves the time that we would waste making you look stupid, as you do it by yourself. Now go back to elektro and try to hug the sniper on the hill, then cry to your mom that he killed you.
-
well, i only suggest the idea of protecting a place because hiding anything in the mod is just impossible, unless you use glitches in the rocks or something. The A2 rendering sucks, stashes and tents can be seen from a kilometer away easily if you're on an helicopter.
-
seems legit. obvious troll is obvious
-
Well basebuilding AKA being able to actually close a place, maybe finding a lock that would only open with a key or a crowbar (that would be rarer than it is now), so you can give a minimum of protection to your shit, but still be able to lost everything to someone if they're dedicated enough. Epoch basebuilding is lame only because the safes and the door locks are almost uncrackable, when you can open a door with a crowbar easily.
-
now you need to shoot them, simple as that. And i find it awesome.
