a dual core running at almost 4GHz should be totally able to handle dayz and its clunky graphics and non existant physics, if the engine was optimized just a minimum.

Why Were Helicopters "Overpowered" In The Vanilla Mod?
lipemr replied to Katana67's topic in General Discussion
totally agree. Comparing flying a chopper to pulling a safety and pressing a trigger, a post with caboose mark of quality, lol. -
yep, RV engine is CPU hungry all the way. Plus its client framerate is affected directly by the server performance (the most stupid thing i've ever seen). Get an i5 or you'll never get anything above 30~40 fps in good servers.
-
so? you talk like there is a ton of lakes and rivers in chernarus, lol.
-
remove the guns and they are technically the same shit, only difference is that the last one have less visibility without exposure and it wont need an entire new vic-upgrade system that will take a year to devs to get working.

Is it worth buying Dayz standalone yet? [With Developer responses]

well, then i guess caboose should get some warnings, as he's always the one to start these stupid attacks to my person. but thanks for clearing the useless discussion from the topic. @topic So, how that leaves us now? rocket said the game's price would go up with time, yet it's already on one of the steam's promotions, what's to expect? -
Suggestion: Decrease hit percentage => Lengthen the Rush + Reduce Artificiality

i was corporal in my country's army, responsible for taking care of the rifles, and i can tell you for sure: the weapon will always outshoot the shooter. Even 60 year old FALs that saw basic training every fucking year can hit a target from 300m away with iron sights, if the sights are aligned. -

put ace mechanics, like they plan to do, and everything is fine. Adding random spread to weapons using "bad condition" as an excuse is the worst way of simulating how it works on real life, AKA lazy men's way out. -
do you mean... you know... exactly how APCs/LAVs are?

15% savings on the game's price in steam. Where's the "buy now and save money later" argument now? seems that they want to squeeze all the money they can get from this game before it's too late. -
you all want dayz to be identical to the movies you watch, or walking dead, FOR FUCKS SAKE, the game is not a movie! It is supposed to be authentic, not to simulate the old cliche that a thousand zombie movies brought to the genre. If you can attach 2 tons of metal to a truck and think that you would still be able to drive it, why the fuck do you want to exclude vehicles that are made like that from the beginning? and the most pathetic thing: YOU WANT HELICOPTERS HAHAHAH WTF? so finding and operating a tank would not be possible in a heavy militarized post sovietic region, but finding a fucking chopper and fixing it (cause no one needs a 2 year long preparation course to be able to do it, right? ) is possible? Cut the crap, you're all just affraid that you wont be able to use half your brain to disable armor in the game, and that your non existant tactics will not be enough to overcome it. I disabled a fucking stryker that was trying to run me over with a m4SD in epoch, literally shot 4 of its tires out while dodging its failed attempts to kill me, for you it must be impossible, as you say they're invincible, they should be even more with the unrealistic damage factors of the mod, right?

Why Were Helicopters "Overpowered" In The Vanilla Mod?
lipemr replied to Katana67's topic in General Discussion
nope, i played back when duped AS50s were found all over sniper hills, and i didnt even mention them because they had no place in dayz either. They removed it for good because that. and i dont think they'll bring up an entirely new mechanic for vehicles, as they're struggling hard to even get the engine modifications working right. There's still terrible desync, lag and exploits scattered around the game, and it's already pretty much half a year of alpha, considering that they were working on it for 1 year already before the release. -
After playing Take On Helicopters for 2 hours, I say YES to helos.
lipemr replied to Bambi Population Control's topic in General Discussion
so you think exploits are OK, as they're on the game? And helicopters arent on the game yet, and probably wont ever be. With all the duping and hacking problems, i dont think anyone would work hard for a helicopter at all, the clans would just dupe 20 main rotors after they find the first one and get an eternal repaired chopper, as they did in the mod. And crap isnt supposed to be easy to get back, smartass, the only excuse they have right now for the fucked up loot system is that it's for testing. They'll change it soon, hopefully. And you should know that there's no hiding shit in dayz, your tents literally stick out of anything you put them on, so unless you glitch them in khelm rocks, there's nowhere to put them. -

with players sticking out from the ground texture like they do in RV engine? You can literally go around at 150kph and spot people easily in third person. -
i'm talking about a spread pattern. Shooting a pistol feels like you're shooting a shotgun, one pellet at a time.

people will just keep one dude at the air scanning the terrain with 3rd person, while all of the clan will get where the tents/enemies/whatever are. Even if it's hard, they just have no place in dayz, they bring the worst of the metagaming from the mod back into the game. -
just what i thought Easier to find people on empty servers when you log into NEAF or military spawns.

Why Were Helicopters "Overpowered" In The Vanilla Mod?
lipemr replied to Katana67's topic in General Discussion
did you really play the mod? HUEYs were just impossible to take down unless you had a m240 or a DMR with 10 mags. And you really think they'll be any different in the game? The ballistics were OK and they made the incredible deed of fucking it up, do you really expect that they'll rework the entire helicopter mechanics? -

lipemr replied to Bambi Population Control's topic in General Discussion
nope. First of all, a helicopter isnt just hard to fly, it's much harder to maintain. They consume insane amounts of fuel and their parts would be even rarer than the helicopter itself. Helis created most of the metagaming in the mod, make spotting bases easy from 800 meters in the dense woods (if you can call dayz woods dense, lol), and consequently will make building a base pointless. Without mention that it will ruin base raidings and squad fights, as the never ending picking up fresh spawns can and will be done by clans, making defending a base pointless (see epoch, as a example). Unless the devs make them even more unrealistic that they already are in the mod, by making them easier to shoot down, they'll only ruin the game. As the carebear army was preching on the tank thread, "IF YOU WANT HELICOPTERS, GO PLAY TOH, DERP". -
i'm not telling you're not good, i'm actually quite impressed that you could make that shot with the stupid pistol dispersion that's on the game, congratulations. I just made that coment because the main fanboy from these forums is already preaching around about his sacred game and how all it's mechanics and bugs are perfect. Just try to make a group like the video shooting a roadsign in the game, then you'll see what i'm talking about. The pistols are as accurate as the shotgun... with pellets.
-
luck, i guess. and 40 meters with a pistol should be a easy-as-fuck shot

Yesterday I played the Mod after 200 hours of Standalone.
lipemr replied to Bambi Population Control's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
well, when the eggs are 2 years old, you can expect what will come of it. -
Gunner seat? again, i'm not talking about freaking tanks, man. I'm talking about armored vehicles, just a long term objective to groups to get up and running instead of putting a tent in the woods of elektro and deathmatching all day out of boredom.

So, following your logic, all the testing we're doing right now serves to nothing, as the devs will just show up with a completely new system for every fucking thing in the game? "Placeholders" are just another cheap excuse to unfinished things that they cant sort out, just like alpher was when the game came out. -
what? yeah, let's add prototypes of gauss rifles on the game, and wildcat catridges, prototype guns and 50 kinds of slingshots on the game, just because somebody likes it. stupidest thing i've ever heard. And yeah, you're really adult, whining because your fancy weapon wont be added into the game.
