Back in that day military guns werent supposed to be accurate, they were supposed to just shoot accurate enough so soldier wouldnt miss shots between the trenches. All manufacturing standarts (differences in parts sizes, etc) were way worse than the ones we have in cheap hunting rifles today. There's just no way a rifle that wouldnt be accurate back in the time it was manufactured can be accurate after 80 years of use in war, training and hunting. I've shot old weapons in the military (mostly FALs, m9's and bolt actions) here on my country and i can say that they get pretty damn innacurate as they age. Believe me, there's NO WAY someone can hit consistently a man sized target with a mosin in ranges of more than 300 meters. NO WAY. The bore should be worn out so much that the variations on the accuracy would just fuck your zeroing capability up. Without taking in account that 80% of these old rifles have their sights off, huge bunch of them cant even be readjusted due to bore warping/damage to the sights. The rifle that should be in the place of the mosin in long range rifle today should be the CZ550/557. Mosins arent able to do what they do in game. Remember, we're talking about soviet union surplus that was in the hands of poor civilians that used it for hunting, they wouldnt care to clean and lube the weapon every day. Ammo should be in bad shape too, as it should be at least 15 years old.

obvious troll is obvious. Yeah yeah, a custom made expensive hunting rifle cant beat a shitty worn out WW2 pile of crap that was thrown in the front lines cause they didnt have something else to use. These peeps must have known the mosin from medal of honor, or they are that soviet fanboys that believe anything made in russia is good. just lots of laugh for this mate.

nope. The military doesnt use glocks, they use m9's. I think m9/m92 should be pretty much all over the place, but with ammo REALLY rare. Same applies for MP5's, M4's, M16's, m1014's and G36's. Civilian/guerilla use weapons should be more rare but with general ammo more plentiful. AK47/74's, Saigas, Civilian rifles/shotguns, Makarovs, worn out m1911's revolver's, etc.

what would a player do in and desert field? The relevant area of the map is WAY, WAY less than that. 50 players is already too much for a map like chernarus. They should focus on making harder and more numerous zombies instead of aggravating the worst problem that the game has, the uncontrollable deathmatch. -
if they were normal peeps, they would die after 30 mins of server uptime of thirst and hunger, wouldnt they? Only heart and head shots to kill instantly, 3 shots to the heart, 1 to the head, if you shoot other organs, zombies should die in let's say... 15 minutes. People that want them easy to kill are the ones that dont want them in game at all (aka KoSers/DeathMatchers), just my 2 cents.

So people want to make this gun basically a BB gun, when in reality they would kill instantly with a headshot in the effective range (0~80yds). Obvliously isnt a fucking .30 caliber and wont hit like one, but it will penetrate a skull easy up to 100 yards, past that it's accuracy gets worse and you shouldnt be able to hit shit. But yeah people, good job in making feedback for the game based on anedotic evidence. -

mmmm, who said that? Every western army uses as their standart 9mm ammo for pistols. if you think .22lr is inofensive, let someone shoot you with one. The point is that someone is much more likely to unload 30 22 rounds at you almost instantly from a decent range than with an m4 or ak47, as there's no recoil and the ammo should be common as hell. Now you say: Do you think 30 rounds at your chest wont do damage? -

Are you sure .22LR wont penetrate a single gatorade bottle at 100yd? Dont think so buddy. Maybe you're mistaking it for .22 pistols, these are crap, but .22 rifles are quite deadly, and can be supressed very easily (even without threading) -

Shoot a .30 with an high powered scope and tell me if you can see where your bullet hits. The idiot here is you. the auto chambering animation isnt even relevant, you wouldnt be able to see where bullet lands with the weapon recoil anyway. So stop bitching about how sniping people from 600 meters away just got harder and learn to fucking play. -

Oooh, look at that, the kids are complaining that the recoil on their .30 WW2 rifle is too high, how funny is that? If you cant bear the kick that the little mosin packs, go back to your COD ghosts or whatever, shooting your .50 while standing and shit. As i said before: The recoil isnt even matched with the IRL one right now, mosin should kick even more. Post some videos of you hitting targets at 800 meters with a mosin nagant without a spotter here and i will change my mind... OH WAIT you cant hit shit past 400 meters with an almost 100 years old rifle. -

STFU kiddo, no one wants to hear your fanboy bullshit, people like you are the ones that will ruin the game once it becomes playable. there's just no features enough in the game, quiet your ass down and wait (for a long time) for them to be released, then you come here again. Sounds like you didnt even play the mod, you jumped on the standalone blindfolded by the hype and now wants to defend your precious game with all means possible. @topic Get the mod, there's MUCH more content in it for now. The SA wont rise that much in price, they're already charging WAY too much for the game. wait for a year of updates then come back again, maybe it will be really good, maybe it'll be a mess, who knows... But dont get the game for now, let it mature a bit. -
there's no advantage or reward for being a hero, as all people you help will shoot you without thinking twice just as they get their first gun. People are a bunch of assholes on this game, the community is made of dicks, so just be one too, at least you can enjoy the game a bit instead of being frustrated every life you get killed by some asshat. Maybe when the game reach its beta and the hype around it fade away, the community will be good enough so the game can actually be enjoyed with actual survivors, heroes and bandits instead of a bunch of BF/COD 13 year old kiddies that want to kill everything that moves just to make their e-penis bigger.

this game will never run smooth, the engine is what's to blame. The arma 2 engine (that was the one SA was made upon) is a pile of pig shit compared to any other engines out there. it renders EVERY object in the cone in front of you when you look at some direction. And by EVERY, i mean ALL objects till the end of the map. Try to look towards the sea and you'll see your fps going up to 70~80 easily, no look inland and you'll get 30 or less fps. Well just have to accept it.

you'll see why if devs release mod support for the game. Vanilla servers will be just as empty as the 1st only are now, and there'll be only [500 vehicles, spawn with mosin+m4] servers with decent population...
