Mk 48. mmmmm

You don't need to delete the whole beta folder. All you need to do is delete the arma20a.exe beta file you copied from the "Beta" folder and that you moved into the OA folder. THen install the new beta, taking the new beta .exe and copying it into the OA folder.

TIPS for logging in and playing
Dancingg replied to Ironside (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Make sure you have the right version. The newest version will make you stuck at loading if you don't have the right beta. -
You can drag bodies. Not sure if only unconscious bodies though.
-
Whenever you log it saves the state of your character. You keep everything you have on you and in your pack as well as keep whatever conditions (broken legs, sickness, bleeding, etc.) on you as well meaning they'll still be there when you log back in, no matter the server. To answer your question, yes, you keep your guns when you're done playing. However remember this is alpha and shit disappears for no reason sometimes.

There is a "Hide body" option when you scroll on a dead body. You can do this with infected too. When you click it their body will melt with the earth becoming one with nature...In lamenst terms, the body just sinks into the floor becoming unlootable.

Can't you just shoot them in the head?
Dancingg replied to Obsolescence's topic in New Player Discussion
I like the changes. Actually makes the zombies more of a threat which is what I was hoping might happen. I pretty much always have a 1911 on me so one shotting zeds gets sort of boring after awhile. This keeps things exciting :) -
DayZ didn't apply these nerfs. Was the result of the Arma 2 patch. Also considering you were that close. A headshot would have been more preferable in my opinion.

Getting kills with a sniper in this game takes a short time to get good at. Get an assault rifle or something. Have some actual gunfights and record that. If you get enough murders that way? Then maybe you can be considered great. Kill moar zeds
-
No there isn't. It's a buggy game. Vehicle's will sometimes flip with no reason. Just gotta take as much gear outta the ATV as you can and move on.
-
You guys do realize you don't have to drop weapons if you want to switch them out form your backpack to inventory...Takes a long time, leaving you exposed. You have primary in hand, and primary in your pack you want to switch into your hand. All you need to do is take the weapon from your pack and MOVE it into your "inventory". The weapons will automatically switch as well as your ammo will move accordingly. Just make sure to never do it the other way around. Putting a weapon INTO a full/almost full backpack will result in it disappearing.

I fell in love with the Mk 48. The dot on it's just too good to pass up.

I crawled for 30 minutes to get to Berezino. Actually quite satisfying getting morphine that way. I've found morphine in deer stands on the occasion. Very rare spawns in places other than military/hospital locations though. Tis why I always carry at least two morphine. I've had my legs broken at 12000 blood on first hit from a zombie. Not fun.

How I accidentially became a very evil bandit
Dancingg replied to MrBrown (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You should just get used to using the middle mouse button to select your option. Always avoid the left click unless you expect to shoot. Accidents happen! -
Sometimes I can't stop moving forward.
Dancingg replied to CompetitorX's topic in New Player Discussion
Steam overlay causes autorun if you're moving when you activate it. -
You got the beta patch installed?
-
I just eat/drink when flashing. However if I'm expecting PvP within the next 5-10 minutes and it's pretty red, then I'll drink/eat just to top myself off before a fight.
-
I prefer a headset on all online FPS.
-
Berezino has a hospital and two supermarkets. It's generally safer than Elektro/Cherno.

Actually DayZ has a ingame Difficulty selector
Dancingg replied to hawkidoki's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Calling this a "Difficulty Selector is improper. Having a diffculty setting changes technical ingame aspects of said game. Harder enemies, less ammo, etc. Not what you're describing. What one person calls something difficult may be easy for someone else. Labelling human interactions like "hard, medium, easy" is impossible. Everyone's interactions are different and their skill levels in said interactions are different as well. Having a difficulty setting ingame should be absolute in changing certain aspects of a game that are going to stay that way. Now what you said certaintly can be a descriptor of the STYLE of gameplay (Just remove the names that you put inside the brackets "Bandit, pussy, etc." and put those instead of the "easy, medium, hard" and that would work. -
I can never hear anything I need to with the music. That, plus I find it easier to get immersed without the music.

Do you think people will still be saying 'its JUST A BETA!' a day before release?
Dancingg replied to PinkTaco24's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I have a feeling this game has quite a ways to go before even hitting beta. -
No problem!
-
Shouldn't have to do this if using Steam to run it. Also never replace the original .exe file like you did. Always make a back up or just rename it. I just renamed it "arma2OA2.exe". Then just COPY the beta into the proper folder.

Soem servers allow Side Chat which is server wide. You can change the chat by hitting the "." button but most servers have Side Chat disabled. Direct Communications is really the only way to communicate now and you need to be in the vicinity of the person you're trying to talk to. Using a mic's the best way.
