Have you actually played it yet? During testing I haven't been able to stay alive for more than half an hour, as compared to days... They follow you everywhere, in hordes, they spawn everywhere. How are they not a threat?

Dark? DARK? http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/121763-3d-model-different-food-qualities-215-update/page__st__400 The thread has 21 pages, how is that kept dark?

Good luck, I think you can only have 1 quiver in your inventory at the same time tho, so you can't have like 70 arrows with you. But you need room for other stuff anyways :D

To whoever asked about Steam: Yes, all patches are sent to Steam's Content Distribution Network a day before releasing it so it can spread around the world. Which also means some last minute changes (e.g. 2 models were 1mm in the ground) will have to go into a hotfix or 1.7.6.1 or something like that. And if you run a private server that changes everything anyways with your 800 vehicles and AKs in every loot pile, you can just remove the new drinks and foods from the loot table if you dont like them.

What's different about your server as opposed to vanilla? Custom loot tables? Custom map?

Okay, to add a little grain of reason into the mess of ignorance: - New items do NOT cause FPS issues, they are all well within poly count and texture size limits and they are only even read client-side. Your server doesn't give two shits what model or texture a file has (as long as the pbo's signature is correct). If a 200-poly cylinder primitive gives your graphics chip client-side trouble, stop playing ArmA 2 engine on a Pentium 1. - New items were added with around 15 minutes total time for the developers, next time you sit on the toilet consider that it took exactly that long to add 5 items into the game once the models and textures were done. It was really only a lot of trouble on Joe's and my side of things, especially getting that fucking machete to work ingame, that took two days to get right, figuring out the mesh positioning so it's in your hands, the mostly undocumented LODs for which there's like 3 total pages in the entire internet where their names are listed, if you dont have them it won't work as a weapon. They're text labels in czech language, try guessing that shit. But hey, if you don't want new stuff, we can just stop adding it ;) - What many people don't seem to realize is that adding new objects is crucial! A bunch of random food and drinks is not the solution to the problem, but it's a start. It can't be that in a post-apoc game you find everything worth having within 20 minutes, leading to the pvp mentality. Hence loot tables need to be populated with things people may not want. - BE Filters / Beta patches / not updated private hive builds / all that mumbo jombo is 100% out of dev control. Wait for the other parties to fix THEIR bugs before thinking it's this mod's fault. - Many core issues were touched, not all of them, but every coder only has 2 hands, and most of this stuff is ArmA 2 limitations you have to dance around in a pretty dress to try and confuse the engine so it doesn't stop what you're trying to do. - 1.7.6 was tested heavily, I had no bugs whatsoever while running it from Reality off of my laptop. And that thing overheats and shuts down when compiling a dll for my dayjob.

In essence, you'll find zombies outside of towns now, too.

Boo-freaking-hoo... Learn to read. The new models and textures were done by Joe and me, not razor. To whoever asked: Yes, Machete can be toolbelted, but it can't chop trees ;) Sadly no new anims. If anyone can show us how to do them nicely, feel free to help.

I agree. Best would be a pockets system where when you hold a key, a little selection menu appears and you drag the mouse in the direction of one of the selections (like battlefield's radiocall system), he pulls out whatever's in that pocket. If you don't know what's in it from memory, you'll see when it gets pulled out. General size may be guessed from the bulge of the pocket. When you open your backpack, character removes it from his back, puts it on the ground and looks inside, actually seeing your items as models in there. If you didn't put your small items on top you'll have to pull stuff out first or you won't even see it. That's what a realistic inventory would be, not a glorified blend of a few photoshop layers and an sql table.

[3D model] Different Food Qualities (3/29 Update)
janus0104 replied to joeyslucky22's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
It's basically that 12 gauge round i made next to your box, with a bit better detail & texturing ;) Problem was for 2rnd slugs/pellets (double-barrel shotung), the stock model actually shows like 6 or 8 rnds... now it's more visible what kind of ammo it is. -
Nothing special about it 'in conjunction with DayZ', the mod just adds loot and zombie spawns to certain building types when actually played.

Making it sound like that's a new discovery... -

You have convinced me. It's hilarious. Add it to SA. What a funny coincidence that toilet paper has just been added to DayZ. -

Still haven't heard back on whether we can use it... it's done, just awaiting approval. -
Yeah, try adding melee weapons ingame. Shit took me 4 and a half hours to get the handle into survivors' hands, moving it millimeter-wise and rotating single angles at a time... EDIT: Make that a day's worth of work. Memory LODs, local mesh displacement and big-ass boundary box LOD... the things you need for DayZ to recognize weapons... Going to sleep... 24 hours working straight on this shit is tiring...

Did you see 1.7.5.1 changelog? Every animal has different raw and cooked meat types now. Raw mutton, cooked mutton, raw rabbit, cooked rabbit, raw chicken leg, chicken leg, raw beef, steak, raw bacon, bacon. I just add new graphics and models for these types so bacon doesn't look like a steak. -

Haha, we had the same discussion on github. I've browsed a bunch of hunting websites that sell stuff like bows, crossbows, accessories and whatnot. Even they mix it up in the weirdest fashion. E.g. '20" Broadhead Crossbow Bolt' Product description 'Arrow length: 20' I'm guessing they're supposed to be bolts, but since the original shape of the bolts isn't really in use other than pistol-sized crossbows, the bolt has turned into an arrow. -

*tosses a bottle of beer over* Cheers, mate! Glad you got it working. Btw, you did see the python export script for .p3d Blender has somewhere, right? *should have told earlier* Ooh, boy. 1st How do you cook steaks on a campfire? 2nd the raw bacon is more like this: Just not as much mass. It's a piece of boar meat, not cut, not salted, not dried, not fried, nothing. If it's big enough, you can throw it at someone like a rock. But carrying around raw stripes would be idiotic, you don't just cut your meat into pieces before you start cooking. I'm not packaging it, gutting a boar doesnt come with a Wal-Mart bag. 3rd The raw bacon is cut into stripes (in this case 4) and fried during cooking. The assumption is that you somehow cut your meat as you cook it. You can't just kill an animal, cut a piece of flesh out of it, throw it on a fire and hope to get an edible result. The game already makes that kind of allusion, you just didn't see it yet ;) 4th You'll see the quiver in the mod sooner than you think. I just provided a model. Nope. The way I was told, the mod team can't use any licensed stuff whatsoever. If we license our stuff even cut-my-own-throat-free-for-all style, they can't use it. -
C: Do one of the other 265 things you could do in that situation. Life isn't black & white, suicide or murder. And there already is an effect on the player if he is receptive for it. E.g. on Namalsk I found a russian LMG in a crashed heli. I wanted to try that thing out, so I lay prone on a hill and scouted the area. A little while later I read someone in the side chat writing about how he doesn't have stuff yet, he just started playing and what-not, and he was hoping he could get at least some food without getting mowed down. A minute or so later, I spot someone crawling down the opposite hill. I see he doesn't have a weapon (or just a hatchet or something like that), I hesitate... But I want to see how well this new gun works... And I fire a burst. Next thing I know, I hear him screaming and pleading for his life over voiceover, and I felt shitty about having shot at him... but it was already too late, I didn't have a bloodbag to heal him either and he didn't seem to have anything worthwhile found yet, so... I fired another burst to put him out of his misery. Around 5 minutes later I was held at gunpoint by a different person from behind, I tried running away, he shot my legs, then bandaged and blood bag'd me and we went on together. However, we had to make a fireplace and sit down for 15 minutes or so to calm down, both of our hearts were pumping.... You can't artificially add emotions into a game as a mechanic. Either you experience them anyways or you don't, anything else is just a gimmicky copy of why you carry painkillers with you.
