    Tent duration after death

There's 3 categories: - Private servers, anything you do on these is local to them. - Private hives, groups of different servers connected and your character data is synched between them. What servers are in a private hive is usually either explained with ingame server message spam or on their website or s.th. like that - Public hive servers, basically the same as the second group just that servers are synched over a global public group, but forced to be vanilla DayZ Each of these has their own advantages and disadvantages.

DayZ: Most Private Hives Are Not Real DayZ

It's still a zombie survival game. Can't kill all the zombies on the map with that DMR. You have just eliminated the inital hour of gearing up. Some people find that part of the gameplay less enjoyable when playing in a group. You wanna run around together, whether you have only an axe or a machine gun, but to actually meet up would require each one to go seperately looking for loot for half an hour and then, when everyone has at least a little bit of stuff, slowly move towards each other. Ultimately, there's place in this game for both.

    Thank you R4z0r49and other devs!!!

Not ignoring the good of the update. Stagnation is bad for the game, and quite frankly zombies have been a joke in the past version. I highly welcome anything that makes them more challenging as a force of nature and an adversary. Here's what I personally have a problem with in this newest version, just because you asked (don't want to feed the same old same old in every other thread just to annoy people): 1.) Giving zombies the ability to attack vehicles was prematurely released considering remaining bugs with it's implementation and the existing vehicle system, namely: - when zombies attack a car and when they dont seems deliberate, sometimes they ignore a stationary vehicle filled with players, otherwise they happily swing at a car going 120km/h that should be running them over - an enclosed vehicle is, as per patch notes, supposed to be safe until the car's windows get smashed in by the zombies, then they start hitting you. this is currently bugged and they can just hit you right away if they want to - helicopters don't have a working fuel tank, as soon as a window gets smashed in the fuel starts to leak. that should simply be fixed 2.) Endless waves of zombies. This one's the biggie, even those who write love poems to the latest patch find it questionable: - whether it's a recent change in the actual spawning behavior or just a result of increased aggro - something that i support, mind you -, it breaks immersion to the point of being ridiculous. having a horde of zombies come at you is fun. using all your resources to dispatch them just to see them respawn at 20m distance pretty much instantly isn't. - if it's a recent change, tweak it to a sensible point, if it's a result of a heightened aggro range due to zed-to-zed communication, add a respawn cooldown of 30-60 seconds. - whether the changed aggro is fine or has glitches aswell remains to be seen and is hard to gauge by players' experiences and their portrayals 3.) Logout countdown: - Not talking about the improved combat lock, that thing is fine - However, even if you just spawned a second ago on a server and havent even had the time to blink your eyes yet, when you hit escape to get to the menu, you have to wait for a countdown to go from 30 down to 1, mind you each step taking 2~3 seconds, before you can actually click Abort. Again, just so we're clear, not tied into combat locking, it's just there so you can't log out as soon as you see someone else but nothing worthy of combat lock has happened yet. A ~1 minute waiting period to log out of a game when there's nothing and noone around is silly and annoying, you should be able to log out right away when you're stationary, no zombies or players are nearby and you're not in combat lock All the other changes are sorta fine. None of them seem like they were needed when compared to the big bugs (see http://dayzmod.com/f...60#entry1162826 ), but like I said, stagnation is worse

    Antibiotics?

    - Cant carry around everything all the time. - Add another random event that creates an immediate need and thus the drive to go somewhere and look for something specific. Obviously it's not gonna affect the stockpilers with a car full of antibiotics, but their days are numbered either way.
  5. Imho just shouldn't be possible with a backpack, much like that TKS animations mod or what it was called for ArmA2.

Not naive, I am a professional developer. I know the atrocious scams colleagues of mine get away with and it's a disgrace to our industry. Let me rephrase it though, "should get fired for". Yeah, I like that better. As for completely break games... that's kinda why we started making SWGEmu back when... but that's a story for a different time. What you're saying is there should be an official bug/issue tracker for the mod. I'm sure that could be done, or if there already is one, please point us to it. However, I think this thread has been derailed far enough. Lots of threads themed towards discussing what aspects of the current state of the game require a fix and which are fine.
  7. Yea, that's the kind of overcorrection they'll likely tweak in future patches, though what I meant to express is that it's neither game- nor immersion breaking. We get the silliest negatives (break your leg when running into a rock), might aswell get a silly positive for a while. All relative.

    Antibiotics?

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. An anxiety disorder that forces a patient to follow certain routines to the iotta. E.g. always knocking three times, always entering a room with your right foot first. When they are forced to break with routine, it immensely upsets them. That is of course a very general description meant to give you an idea. It's a frequently misused term with online communities to describe someone who focuses too much on little details, imaginary "100% completion" on mundane things, etc. Like asking someone you see drinking their second can of coke this day whether they're diabetic yet.

It's narrow minded when you blindly praise releasing an update of such quality that professional developers would get fired for. It's an alpha mod driven by community effort, so it's fine that there are bugs and no elaborate quality assurance, but that also necessitates player feedback on what didnt quite work out. Calling that whining, again, is narrow minded. Inb4 getting flamed at for being brutally honest.
  10. Yes, but imho it's usefulness is highly overstated by the maker of that video. It's nice that you no longer have to tip-toe over a fence, but the animation obviously isn't perfect (yet).

New Update Makes DayZ Extremely Difficult

Had an empty tin can to boil the water in? Plastic water bottles dont deal well with open heat ;)

    Backpack Sizes (New Patch) ?

That page used to list "weapon slots" in that 2nd column, leading to confusion. However, the column never had any meaning with current code. Hence, ignore it's existence, it's not relevant for players.

Maybe you should actually read some of the threads that list the problems instead of replying "you all QQ, everything perfect" to the OP.

DayZ Stand Alone and ArmA 3?

Just because they're chinese pants in ArmA3 doesnt mean they have to be chinese in DayZ SA :D And with your sunday attire most likely deciding on how much actual inventory space you have, I hope for a lot of variety. It goes beyond fashion.

DayZ Stand Alone and ArmA 3?

No worries about the quoting ;) And yea, pretty sure they'd just go back to the original files, grab those high-res subdiv levels and export with more details than they dared with the old engine. It's what I'd do, GoZ it up (a term from ZBrush, nothing to do with DayZ :D), why get rid off something that has worked in the past. I wish they'd include the community a little more, e.g. have an art contest where the winner's item gets added to the standalone version or s.th. like that. But for the most part, have to be happy with what we get.
  16. If only ever someone bothered to update it with the changes of the past 5 months.

DayZ Stand Alone and ArmA 3?

Learn something new, or relearn something forgotten, every day. Is there a reason behind using a customized TOH engine over using upcoming arma3 engine, or just a scheduling conflict? They can still use the same models / textures / animations tho, may just need a different script to export from maya/3ds/etc to whatever object format the engine eats. May lose some tesselation here or triple-S there, but nothing stopping the reuse of artwork on any level.

    Variety in zombies?

It's possible and it's what they're doing. At least in terms of variety, expect a lot more there. In terms of partially skeletal, I don't know. Remains to be seen how they'll spin the diseased but alive/diseased and undead thing in the standalone version, free of certain restrictions that almost pushed them into that corner with the mod. Just not worth the effort of adding a ton of textures and models to the open mod at this point.

New Update Makes DayZ Extremely Difficult

kk, no injury, no harm ;) Noone's arguing against the combat timer responding to almost every activity, that's great. What I object is this: you log into a server, freshly spawn, havent even moved an inch, remember you had something else to do, want to log out again. Oh right, you have to stay in the game menu for 30 imaginary (60+ real) seconds before you're allowed to click on Abort because someone might want to shoot at you at some point in the near future. TLDR: Combat lock on almost everything? Yes. Additional 30+ seconds of staring at the (not greyed out, nor combat lock blinking in the background) Abort button? No.

New Update Makes DayZ Extremely Difficult

So you're saying infinite waves of immediately respawning zombies is realistic, and we have to relearn what "realistic" is? Uhm, sorry, but infinite waves in quick succession have always been the cheapest way for a video game to force a player into running away rather than taking out enemies. In fact, you'd metagame that very aspect, if the enemies keep respawning there must be another path you were supposed to take. In a sandbox game, cheap tricks like that don't work, period. If you're referring to the improved hearing and cross-communication... those would be fine - after fixing certain glitches that currently exist, argue all you want, there are glitches in the aggro - if they weren't built on said problematic mechanic of infinite supply of zombies.
  21. Would have to look at the actual loot tables to differentiate between "not spawn in residential areas anymore" and simply lowering the chance. The net result, however, is that for the first time ever, I've worn a chest pouch! Other than not being on your chest, it looked surprisingly good. Used to be they were trash much like tin cans.

Hahahahaha! Ingenious! You, sir, are a scholar and a gentleman!

    Tent duration after death

Yup. As to being rare, used to be (or at least feel like) a 20% chance of finding one in a freshly loot-spawned supermarket, far lower in other places. With the new version, who knows.

    Tent duration after death

I thought you could, but took a second look just to be sure. I was wondering why the game would occassionally keep dead survivor rows in the survivor's table, now I know that's because the deployables reference them as the owner id, different from their alive character. Summing it up, unless they changed the code without changing the SQL interface, you can't pack up deployed tents once you died.
