    Standalone and map sizes...

They did show us in the latest video that they added the entirety of Utes to the southern end. So, hopefully, they'll add more inland land mass aswell. *EDIT: I was too slow :(
  2. You'd be surprised. Many of us don't fall into the sit-on-our-asses clichée. Well, it's a trick question, isn't it? Who wears jeans...

DayZ: Most Private Hives Are Not Real DayZ

Vanilla = Unmodified. The original flavor. Not chocolate, not cranberry, and no machine guns in your inventory when you spawn.
  4. Yes, we have found heli crashs since the new update. All is working fine, at least with vanilla code.

    Best Random Find in DayZ

    I hate you.
  6. There's like a 3/4 chance every hour for one to spawn. If they don't appear on the servers you play on, there may be something wrong with Bliss.
  7. Bug. Indoor movement for the AI is likely as good as it's ever gonna get before standalone, we'll have to deal with it for the time being.

    Best Random Find in DayZ

First time I tried Lingor, I ran and ran... and ran... and see a big hotel. "Cool, let's check that out first". First building I ever entered on Lingor. Go up one flight of stairs, look on floor. Ghillie suit. <3 Lingor First time I ever played, join a server, some guys are talking about playing on their own password protected server, telling some guy to come to their TS for the password. So I piggybacked onto that TS aswell, said hello, got the password and logged on their server. Those other guys met up pretty quickly but I had no idea where I was. I didn't have a map, nor any idea what towns even existed. Run inland, run and run... and run... and run... and suddenly vegetation stops. Crap, this must be the map border. Okay, let's go a little east. No food or drinks, running red on both... I find that white pickup that spawns north of Zelenogorsk... in working shape! Sure, not perfect condition, but 4 wheels and an engine, what more can you want? 1/4 full of gas, too! So, happy that I found my first vehicle ever, I hop in, hit three houses while figuring out that vehicles are steered mainly with the mouse - I learned how to use the AD steering a bit later - follow the road. Just as the gas runs empty, I hear a helicopter, the guys owning the server arrive, land, take out all the zombies, give me food, drinks and blood and take me along to their camp, gearing me properly there.
  9. Just wait for the hotfix, it be much better now.

    Explain to me...EXPLAAAAIN TO MEEE

It's a fan project taking the taviana fan-made map and adding more customization to it. Tbh, I'm not a big fan. The features they try to add fall flat and anything that works properly is unmodified DayZ. But, I haven't played it that much, so who knows. Some like it, some don't.

    Tanks?

There have, for a longer time than just this patch, been 3 kinds of randomly placed environment objects on the map, as far as I know: - Vehicle wrecks with loot (other than the static ones that are just roadblocks) - your friend probably meant these - Helicopter crashes (with smoke rising) - Care packages (with loot around them)

    Writing for DayZ

Someone was quoting him in another thread about them wanting everyday books like in Skyrim (i.e. 'Flora & fauna of Chernarus' over 'The day i escaped 20 zombies")

    What on earth for?
  15. No, we don't know how many died before your character wakes up on the shore, so there's probably far less people remaining.

Neat idea. Shame I suck at creative writing. Anyone feel like turning this into something decent, be my guest: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1CJMYVneVSAtR_8JluaYwV8T8044aKinNnYQd6IUg4zA/edit?usp=sharing

DayZ: Most Private Hives Are Not Real DayZ

As to vehicle rareness, I'd say that was at least in part because of the safety against zombie they represent. Now that that's slowly fading, vanilla might deserve a few more vehicle spawns. And guess what? They added 2 vehicles.

    Tent duration after death

There's 3 categories: - Private servers, anything you do on these is local to them. - Private hives, groups of different servers connected and your character data is synched between them. What servers are in a private hive is usually either explained with ingame server message spam or on their website or s.th. like that - Public hive servers, basically the same as the second group just that servers are synched over a global public group, but forced to be vanilla DayZ Each of these has their own advantages and disadvantages.

DayZ: Most Private Hives Are Not Real DayZ

It's still a zombie survival game. Can't kill all the zombies on the map with that DMR. You have just eliminated the inital hour of gearing up. Some people find that part of the gameplay less enjoyable when playing in a group. You wanna run around together, whether you have only an axe or a machine gun, but to actually meet up would require each one to go seperately looking for loot for half an hour and then, when everyone has at least a little bit of stuff, slowly move towards each other. Ultimately, there's place in this game for both.

    Thank you R4z0r49and other devs!!!

Not ignoring the good of the update. Stagnation is bad for the game, and quite frankly zombies have been a joke in the past version. I highly welcome anything that makes them more challenging as a force of nature and an adversary. Here's what I personally have a problem with in this newest version, just because you asked (don't want to feed the same old same old in every other thread just to annoy people): 1.) Giving zombies the ability to attack vehicles was prematurely released considering remaining bugs with it's implementation and the existing vehicle system, namely: - when zombies attack a car and when they dont seems deliberate, sometimes they ignore a stationary vehicle filled with players, otherwise they happily swing at a car going 120km/h that should be running them over - an enclosed vehicle is, as per patch notes, supposed to be safe until the car's windows get smashed in by the zombies, then they start hitting you. this is currently bugged and they can just hit you right away if they want to - helicopters don't have a working fuel tank, as soon as a window gets smashed in the fuel starts to leak. that should simply be fixed 2.) Endless waves of zombies. This one's the biggie, even those who write love poems to the latest patch find it questionable: - whether it's a recent change in the actual spawning behavior or just a result of increased aggro - something that i support, mind you -, it breaks immersion to the point of being ridiculous. having a horde of zombies come at you is fun. using all your resources to dispatch them just to see them respawn at 20m distance pretty much instantly isn't. - if it's a recent change, tweak it to a sensible point, if it's a result of a heightened aggro range due to zed-to-zed communication, add a respawn cooldown of 30-60 seconds. - whether the changed aggro is fine or has glitches aswell remains to be seen and is hard to gauge by players' experiences and their portrayals 3.) Logout countdown: - Not talking about the improved combat lock, that thing is fine - However, even if you just spawned a second ago on a server and havent even had the time to blink your eyes yet, when you hit escape to get to the menu, you have to wait for a countdown to go from 30 down to 1, mind you each step taking 2~3 seconds, before you can actually click Abort. Again, just so we're clear, not tied into combat locking, it's just there so you can't log out as soon as you see someone else but nothing worthy of combat lock has happened yet. A ~1 minute waiting period to log out of a game when there's nothing and noone around is silly and annoying, you should be able to log out right away when you're stationary, no zombies or players are nearby and you're not in combat lock All the other changes are sorta fine. None of them seem like they were needed when compared to the big bugs (see http://dayzmod.com/f...60#entry1162826 ), but like I said, stagnation is worse

    Antibiotics?

    - Cant carry around everything all the time. - Add another random event that creates an immediate need and thus the drive to go somewhere and look for something specific. Obviously it's not gonna affect the stockpilers with a car full of antibiotics, but their days are numbered either way.
  22. Imho just shouldn't be possible with a backpack, much like that TKS animations mod or what it was called for ArmA2.

    Thank you R4z0r49and other devs!!!

Not naive, I am a professional developer. I know the atrocious scams colleagues of mine get away with and it's a disgrace to our industry. Let me rephrase it though, "should get fired for". Yeah, I like that better. As for completely break games... that's kinda why we started making SWGEmu back when... but that's a story for a different time. What you're saying is there should be an official bug/issue tracker for the mod. I'm sure that could be done, or if there already is one, please point us to it. However, I think this thread has been derailed far enough. Lots of threads themed towards discussing what aspects of the current state of the game require a fix and which are fine.
  24. Yea, that's the kind of overcorrection they'll likely tweak in future patches, though what I meant to express is that it's neither game- nor immersion breaking. We get the silliest negatives (break your leg when running into a rock), might aswell get a silly positive for a while. All relative.
