    DayZ Mod 1.7.5.1 Update

Thanks so much for listening and caring about the players. I enjoy the challenge and realism of dayz, but the Zeds spotting me carefully crawling at 200+ meters out, or the whole town charging me when I open a pop on the 2nd story of a building interior was really, really starting to wear on my enjoyment of the game. It was impossible to predict when they would spot you, making strategy and planning impossible and irrelevant. It seems to me all the other changes are cool and add to the immersion of being in a scary and dangerous world where I need to be on constant alert. The Zed uber-powers of Godlike vision/hearing desperately needed the adjustment, and I for one am most appreciative!!
  2. Untrue. Zeds can now easily spot you at 200 meters when you are crawling under the cover or trees/bushes/grass. Best to not assume that because you are careful you can survive, because that does not fly under the new update. They can see/hear you crawling at amazingly long distances. Needs to be adjusted. I'm all for making things harsh and realistic- love the idea of infection, boiling water, dragged out out of cars. It would be okay for the Zeds to call for their buddies if you had a decent chance of crawling around town. You don't, and this destroys the idea of strategy and surviving with your wits. You have to have stuff like morphine. You cant get it outside of zombie locales, and stealth know longer functions. It's simple, and it's the one thing that needs addressed.

    DayZ Mod 1.7.5.1 Update

My boiling water issue was indeed my bad about understanding the need for a tin can. Thanks for the help. Now, if I can figure out that I have some sort of red flashing train-signal perched on my head alerting Zed's of my presence whilst crawling, from 200 meters out, all my problems will be solved!
  4. Try crawling into a town without your car, and see what happens to you. They can spot you crawling at plus 200 meters, through cover. It's incredibly hard to keep them from spotting you- crawling. It's easy to tell you haven't attempted this. Also, they are much, much harder to shake now without a building to take advantage of- not easier.
  5. It's been confirmed by scores of posts that Zeds now spot players who are crawling- not walking, not shooting- crawling- from hundreds of meters out, through cover. Whether this is by sight or sound, I don't know. Certainly the "heads up" meters don't show this exposure. I've personally seen empty towns, when I am the only playe on the serverr, go berserk with activity from Zeds when I am crawling 200+ meters from any Zed, on my belly. This needs addressed, and quick. Numbers are dropping in game from the patch, instead of raising, as people see that stealth is now useless in game. I've seen a lot of players here on the forums pretending they have actually tried to go into game/town and say things being harder is great, blah, blah blah; but they obviously haven't experienced this. I'm all for a tougher experience. I love realism in games that make me think. But this has nothing to do with thinking. Strategy gets you knowwhere when you are spotted crawling from hundreds of meters away from any Zed.

    DayZ Mod 1.7.5.1 Update

Boiling water is glitched for me. I never get that option when at a campfire, with water available on my person. I'm starting to think that the distance a Zed can spot you whilst crawling, specifically, is bugged or glitched. It is at the very least 200 meters. Cover is irrelevant. I've had this happen through pine trees and in high grass at such distances I can barely see the Zed. When I use the post sight on my mp5, the post entirely hides the Zed...that is the distance we are talking about, yet, they spot me from a huge distance away, and the indicator does not show any high threat level. I am all for making survival tougher, but this extreme hearing/vision when the player is moving in a stealthy manner, combined with them calling in every Zed in the region makes any sort of trip into town impossible to succeed at...unless you are apparently very lucky. I have yet to meet anyone who has succeeded getting morphine at a hospital since the patch. Has anyone actually snuck through a town since the patch? I cannot, making survival quite impossible. This needs looking at. I can see a Zed within 20 meters spotting a crawling player in front of him. But 200 through cover?????????

Who else LIKES the new update?

I really just don't understand how anyone can say that being sneaky is now useful. My entire approach has always been to be super sneaky- actually crawling in towns, using cover, and so on. Now, this is impossible. Zeds can see a crawling player from something like 150 yards away. I know this is true, because I've already been spotted approaching towns, while crawling, in the rain, in tall grass, from unbelievably far distances. Stealth is finished in dayz, if they keep these super hearing/seeing or telepathic zombies the way they are. I assume the people saying it's a great addition have not actually snuck into any towns. It's impossible if there are many zombies.
  8. I've no issues with things being harder- I'm fine with zombies chasing you endlessly once aroused and dragging you outta cars, and weapons being harder to find. All good. My only complaint is that they can easily see you from hundreds and hundreds of feet away while you are crawling through cover. That ruins any ideas about stealthy play, forcing a situation where it's run like hell and use the engine defects to lose them in buildings. No other way to survive. Using your brains and stategy- planning a route and avoiding zombies becomes impossible when they can see or hear you crawling through cover from very, very far away. Anyone who has actually played with the new patch in has to have experienced this when entering a town. How can someone survive? Are they wanting people to play in groups with lots of guns to kill all the zombies? They don't want thinking, stealthy players to succeed? There's a difference in hard core and just impossible. If you actually test the game, and visit a zombie filled town, you will see what I mean. Sneaking is no longer an option.
  9. There is no longer any "sneak past zombies"....they spot you crawling at 100 meters and more. The people claiming it's fine that it's difficult haven't actually experienced how easily Zeds now spot you. It's no longer possible to go into a town to a grocery store alone and escape alive....they will spot you and likely kill you in a huge mass of Zeds. When I claim they can spot you crawling at 100 meters, I'm not exagerating...and I think they can spot you out to 200 meters, in the rain, while you are crawling....it's that bad. It makes it impossible to stealth any longer. This isn't a small bug...it needs addressed as it's a game killer.
  10. With the new patch, stealth is no longer an option. Zeds see you crawling through grass at plus 150 meters. Seriously, I can't see this change lasting long- anyone who takes a sneaky, realistic approach is now doomed. I suppose hosing down a whole town full of zombies at range is an option, or running through buildings- but that's it. I'm not playing any longer until the Zed's hearing/eyesight isn't superpowered. No point in it- why bother?

    Backpacks....weapon slots?

Is it an "either or" situation, as in, you can put two weapons into a Alice Pack, and nothin' else?
  12. Have you people even played since the new patch? The zombies can see you crawling from over 150 meters away, in high grass, in the rain. This does throw planning and stealth out the window. No amount of "being careful" now matters, because the Zeds can see, (or hear) from incredible distances, even when you are crawling. This needs addressed, and right away.
  13. Zombies can now spot you from 150+ meters away when you are crawling through grass and brush...this destroys the entire strategy for the sneaking style of play, which is what dayz is really all about. Nothing good about that, and it's needs fixed and fast.

    DayZ Mod 1.7.5.1 Update

The initial range that a zombie can now see/hear a crawling player in grass and rain seems incredibly far. The zombie that spotted me the furtherest out, prone, was quite a lot smaller than the post sight on my mp5. That, too me, is ridiculous.

    DayZ Mod 1.7.5.1 Update

I've played extensively the last day with the new patch. I am a player who enjoys challenges and realism, and I agree that upping the challenge level and adding things like needing to boil water are great. Having zombies communicate and raising the consequences of them discovering you are fine....however. There definately is a bug or huge problem with the range and ease that Zeds can now spot a player, when they are not aggroed beforehand. I've been pursued from zombies well out of range of my primary weapons- maybe 200, 250 yards away from me, while I was attempting to crawl into town. In the rain. In tall grass. I can't even see the zombies spotting me, I hear 'em comin'. This makes a "sneaky" style of single player who creeps in and out like a ghost utterly impossible- basically ruining my experience. If a player takes the time to crawl, use cover and so on, if they keep well out of the zombies paths, it should be feasible to survive. This happened to me 8, 9 times. I tried logging out and back in. Still happens. Once one sees me, of course, an army of them are on me. The only reason I lived was having a huge backup supply of food and medical supplies. You can no longer use trees to hide from the things. They respot you are long range, and it starts again. I appreciate the efforts made by the devs....and understand where they are coming from, but I think the uber-eyesight or hearing zombie apocolypse is a huge mistake, because it basically forces a player to battle the whole town, when the point is to avoid the zombies in the first place. Thanks for Reading, Patrick
