Well as Toft said the developers want the game to be as realistic as possible and in the real world you need to sleep to regain your strength.

Hi there, i thought of an idea for how to implement sleep/tiredness into the game. I will just put it in list form as i think it´s easier to get an overview over. Ideas for sleep in dayz: Sleep would function as food, drink and so on. Physical activity such as running depletes your sleep meter. When tired/sleepy you would have trouble holding your gun, you can not run so fast and so on. To relieve sleep you can sleep in tents or in building using a sleepingbag. Energi drinks and instant coffee mixed with water woulld also relieve sleep. Possibility to pass out when to tired. That´s what i have so far, you are all welcome to fill in with more ideas.
