Never flip ATV when it is stuck, Script Restriction "40"
Assassin8813 replied to Assassin8813's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I feel like I've started a war here! All I wanted was some answers, some peaceful answers! I feel like I assassinated Archduke Franz Ferdinand, or imposed heavy taxes on the American Colonies! But in any case, I do believe I have found the answer. For the 'Script Restriction #40', what I've found works every time is that when you need to refuel, step out of your vehicle and back out of the game. Then, take out your 'BEClient.dll' and 'BEServer.dll' from 'Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead > Expansion > Battleye'. Put them somewhere safe like on the desktop. Join the game again, and you should have the error "Battleye failed to initialize". Minimize, put the files back in, and when you re-join, you should be able to refuel your vehicle without any problems. This process also works for when you keep getting kicked for trying to put on a Ghillies Suit or Camo Clothing. I think this is because Battleye kicks people for trying to put on new skins, or for new skins from appearing in your inventory, like the transition from 'Jerry Can' to 'Jerry Can (Empty)'. As for the bridge, I will quote s4pphire on the well known fact that "ATVs and bridges are archenemies". You have been warned. Regards, Assassin8813 -
"Retrieving data" glitch and "Script Restriction #41"
Assassin8813 posted a topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
So my friend has joined me in the zombie apocalypse, and he got DayZ up and running successfully. He went through all the little details with installing the Battleye client, running both Arma II and Arma II OA, and his game works. However, there are two recurring problems that he encounters in-game. First, every time he approaches a town or some other large building, his game freezes and it tells him "Retrieving data". The only way for him to stop this glitch is by quitting the game using Task Manager and joining up the server again. I've looked around the forums a bit and it says to revert DayZ to an earlier version, but that didn't help. In fact, it made the problem worse, not even allowing him into many servers. Another problem that he encounters is that ever time he tries putting on either camo clothing or a ghilles suit, Battleye kicks him due to 'Script Restriction #41', and when he logs back in, the camo clothing or ghilles suit is gone. Just dissapeared from existence. This kina pissed me off, because I searched for a long time to get him those items, and now all that hard work just dissapeared in the infinite code of 1's and 0's. I've seen several other people on the servers that I've played across be kicked for the same restriction, but I'm not sure if they're all trying to do the same thing or they're getting kicked for other reasons. In any case, my friend has been encountering both of these problems playing side-by-side with me, but I've never had a problem with these even once. I've equipped both a ghilles suit and camo clothing, raided several large towns in one session, and the game has never kicked me or froze on me. I'm starting to think it could be his computer, since it is slightly less upgraded than mine is, but that shouldn't present this huge of a problem. Are there any ideas for what these reasons are? Thank You. -
Tents disappear on server restart
Assassin8813 replied to Assassin8813's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Thanks a ton for the help. I'll try and get in touch with the server admin, but I think that everyone in their building is dead, because I've sent over 4 messages to them and never got a reply! LoL, they're probably zombies!!! -
To anybody and everybody out there, I have a proposal to whomever is willing to listen. I've been playing for a long time on a server, which is to say US 312 Phoenix. I have a lot of my stuff stashed there, but I haven't found a single vehicle to date!! If anybody can find me a vehicle to trade with, I'm willing to give up almost anything that I have, such as a Bizon SD, M104, M249 SAW, MK 48 Mod 0, Ghillies suit, FN FAL, NVG's, and more. All the weapons I'm putting forth have ammo with them. Please respond if you know where vehicles are in this server or are willing to trade for one that you found! Thank you.
-
Hey man, I'm not interested in that trade anymore, because I left the server that I used to play on. Not only is there not a single vehicle on the map, but it just deleted all my tents with each server reset, so I'm done with that bullshit server. Sorry.

Just to let you know, Infection doesn't mean you'll turn into a zombie, it's more of a bodily infection (coughing, weakness, etc..) like Salmonella. This can be cured using antibiotics and avoided by keeping up your body temperature. Now, though, you're going to have to boil your water before drinking it, and bloodbags have a risk with the reward.

Well this blows. I was at the top of my game with some crazy endgame shit. Ghillies suit, GPS, NVG's, you name it. Running around the map, I hit up this one place I know is full of tents cuz I think that he may have taken my M4A1 CCO SD. Looking through the tents, I find nothing, and am about to leave, when I'm killed with one shot. So I'm like "Fuck, well, that's life." BTW, the GPS coordinates of this place is 118 029. I check the server listing, and the only guy on there is this guy named 'dsfasdfsa1'. I'm thinking "That's a weird name, but he's definitely the one that killed me." I get all geared up along the coast, map, watch, knife, hatchet, Makarov, and I'm making my way back there. I'm about 6000m out, specifically at 107 099, and I get sniped again. The only person on this server is this fucking 'dsfasdfsa1'. Now I'm pissed, cuz not only did I get killed by a hacker at first, but then I got killed AGAIN more than 6000m away from where I was originally killed!!! He must have used some serverwide kill switch, cuz there's no way IN HELL that he managed to find me running though the woods like that, and he must have teleported even if he did! NOW I'M PISSED. This means that all my shit is gone now since I KNOW he didn't loot it, and I can't trust the server that I play on anymore!! Obviously the only proof I have is my word, since I wasn't recording at the time, and there's no way that anybody's gonna be able to triangulate this guy. If it helps, I was playing on 'US 312 Phoenix' that has this IP. 69.64.95.111:2302. I got killed around 1:00 AM Mountain Time, and again at 1:20 AM. Please send this hacker to the grave!! Regards, Assassin8813

By the way, I'm going to have to get back to you on that trade, because I just got killed by a hacker twice when he used a server-wide kill switch. You can see my sad story here. http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/122036-killed-by-hacker-twice/ I'm pretty sure that my gear is all safe in my tents, since this gay ass hacker obviously didn't even go for loot, just for trolling kills, but he may have done more than simply kill me. So I will have to get back to you.

Skype: Assassin8813 Age: 18 Location: Prescott, AZ Gun Skill: 8-9 You point that gun at me, you're already dead! Special skills: Stealth Hit & Run (Ghillie, NVG's, Bizon SD, M4A1 CCO SD, Crossbow, etc.) -
Primarily, I've been looking for something as simple as an ATV or even a Skoda, but I've been keeping my eye open for the big ones, like the UAZ and the Mi-17. If you could come up with an ATV or similar, I'll give you the M249 SAW. If you come up with a UAZ or something similar, I'll also throw in the MK Mod 0. Sound fair?

Will Trade AS50 for Vehicle
Assassin8813 replied to ChronicTacoz's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yeah man, I've been playing on that same server for so long and I've never seen a vehicle yet. I'm starting to think either the spawning for the vehicles is broken or some troll has hidden them under a bridge (or in the woods, or in no-mans land, whatever). But if you ever find an extra one, please let me know, I'll go for a freaking Bicycle at this point! -
Custom Ghillie Webbing and Solution to Crowbar Problem
Assassin8813 replied to The Friendly Bandit's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
The car lock is definitely a great idea, and that could honestly go for every vehicle in the game. Keys for the ATV and Motorcycle, chains and a lock for the Old Bike, and everything else would use the locks that are already implemented into the doors. Kudos to you for being the first to post about this. I hope this idea get's through to rocket. As for the crowbar, it is pretty much useless at this point. To add on to what you have to suggest, I think that the crowbar should be a necessity to break into buildings with jammed doors, making loot harder to find without a crowbar. I like that idea too. -
Yeah, I've been having a lot of trouble too finding out what was good or bad with the thermometer. Mine is always a pinkish hue, until it starts flashing. They're going to need to make the good and bad on the thermometer more distinctive in the future.

someone to play dayz with?
Assassin8813 replied to kingethanthefirst's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'd be willing to team up with another survivor. If you have steam, we can chat there, but my XBox Live Subscription cut out a couple of months ago. If you have a favorite server, I'll hit that one up with you. Otherwise, you can talk to me about the server I play in and I can probably hit you up with some end-game stuff (NVG's, Ghillies suit, FN FAL, etc), because you're absolutely right about one thing. Playing by yourself is kinda boring. -
To go off of what Rott said, DayZCommander is easily the best tool to use for playing DayZ. Not only does it have a very large server list that alows you to filter them through a variety of settings, but it doesn't have any ads, it doesn't require you to 'Sign In' or 'Register', and it's easy to use. This is what I use all the time, and I have never had a problem with it.

The best way to tell if someone is a bandit is by their towel head (excuse my bluntness). As soon as you see the towel on their head, either run away from them while staying low, or try and get the drop on them and make the world a better place. Be warned though that bandits with the towel head are very experienced, and they probably have very good equipment, if not the best. If they don't have a towel head, assume that they are a bandit until you know otherwise. You can never trust anyone that you stumble across. That being said, don't shoot everyone you see. That's the fastest way to make you a bandit. If you're not sure, your best bet is to avoid them completely. However, in case you're curious and want to make a potential friend, approach them with caution. declare your intention over direct communication, preferrably with your voice so you don't have to stand still, and keep a constant flag on them. Chances are that if they value their life, they'll try to reason with you. Another important distinction to make between bandits and regular survivors is that bandits tend to stay in locations that offer good cover and great field-of-vision, allowing them to snipe out other survivors. If you do see somebody up on a ridge or in a tall building, get down, get to cover, and stay out of their field-of-vision. They're probably not staying up there to watch the clouds go by! One other thing to keep in mind is the Hero's that you might see. They are a bit more difficult to make out than bandits from regular survivors, but a dead giveaway is the flack jacket that they have on their body, as well as the flannel beneath their clothing. Hero's are people who help out other survivors either by bandaging them, giving them blood transfusions, or waking them from unconsciousness with epi-pens. You can easily assume that they're the 'good guys' in the zombie apocalypse. However, as Zionist Wabbit did state, some bandits may give their fellow brethren a ton of blood transfusions so that they have the Hero skin and then trick new players into thinking that they're there to help you. With this bit of information, hopefully you can easily identify, respond to, and deal with bandits as well as other survivors. I hope that this helped you out! BTW Jimmy, I love the NMRiH quote!! That's one of my all time favorite zombie games!
