  1. Please allow me to quote myself since you obviously missed it:
  2. 5 minutes is okay, even more would be okay...if the protection system could reliably differntiate between server hoppers and legit server changers. Actually it can't. Lately i joined a server based of time of day (browser said it was 13:42 on that server). After spawning i wondered why it was dark night. Okay, it's alpha, it's early access, things like this can happen, will be probably fixed when final. Okay, back to server browser, picking another server...."Spawning in 230 seconds". Okay. Waited, spawned in. Seconds later: "You were kicked". Great, admin abuse. Again, back to the server browser, again picking another server...aaaand "Spawning in 240 seconds". Actually the server hopper protection system is equal to game copy protection systems: it punishes the wrong ones more than those it should punish. If this get improved and "false positives" are no longer punished, timer could be raised to 30 minutes.
  3. I don't see a problem if server hoppers get a one hour wait time....as long the system can differ between server hoppers and "false positives" as already described in this thread: server restarts/crash, being kicked and maybe some other cases. Just recently: go to server browser, select daytime server (13:42 it said), connect. Hmm, from what i know, 13:42 isn't supposed to be dark night. Okay, bug, just change server "Spawning in 260 seconds". Okay Alpha/Early access. Game connects, looks good so far...what? You were kicked from server? Ooookay, next server...."Spawning in 220 seconds..." Fight the server hoppers, really do it. Just make sure you do really just fight the hoppers. Please no collateral damage.

Why loot is not full random?

Good addition, thank you. Although i always thought those wrecks are burned, not rusted. Also the fact that you can find fresh oranges, apples, kiwis and bananas let me think that the apocalypse happened less than 6 month ago. Anyway, let us just hope they get the loot spawn in a way that keeps gameplay interesting withouth losing authencity.

Why loot is not full random?

I don't know why you can't find weapons in residental houses. Probably they took them while fleeing. If i had a gun at home and had to flee from a zombie apocalypse, for sure i wouldn't left my gun behind. Although i agree, at least a shotgun here and there would make sense (deer hunter). Please keep in mind, it is alpha and i think that loot spawn isn't fully balanced yet.

Why loot is not full random?

The location of loot should make sense. It doesn't make enough yet but i hope this is because it's alpha. Want a Firefighter axe? Most likely to find one at the Firestation. Food? Well, i have my food in the kitchen, don't know about you though. M4? Most likely in a military installation. I know that. You know that. Everyone knows that. And everyone (almost) wants a M4. So you go to a military installation like everyone else. Which makes it a high risk area which is good for the gameplay. If any loot could spawn anywhere, players would just spread over the map and encounters would be by far less likely.
  7. Ok, i see the need for a protection against server hopper, no doubt for this. But if i join a server, get kicked within seconds for no reason (admin abuse) and then the server hopper protection kicks in. I mean, serious? This is the best you come up with? So IMHO this should require a hotfix ASAP. Also a improved server browser wouldn't be a bad idea. More than often the info in the browser does not correspond with ingame settings. Says regular when infact is hardcore and vice versa, Same for Time of day and playercount. So i connect, realize that actual server settings aren't as i've expected them to be and disconnect to try another server...and have to wait just to realize that this server also doesn't fit. Again, i welcome every action taken against server hopper......if you're able to distinguish between server hoppers and unlucky players. Fix this.
  8. Just to make sure that everyone get it right: i'm not against a server hopper protection. The game needs such a system, no doubt. Just make damn sure that false positives get handled correctly. Right now, this isn't the case.
  9. That would be true if players had a choice like opening their own server or playing SP. Since this is not possible and we rely on those servers (and their admins) it is up to BI to get this issue under control. Just simply remove the KICK function from admin panel?
  10. Yep, excellent idea. Just ignore bugs and flaws. Please move on, nothing to see here for you. *sigh*
  11. This problem is still present. Join a server, seconds later "You were kicked from server", join another server "wait 286 seconds". Really? This is the best coding you can do? Of course, why make it reliable when you can make it cheap. Fix this.
  12. Actually there are only 12 Servers up (including locked test servers). Connecting not possible for some reason ("Connecting failed" message). Servers and Client are on 115106.
  13. It works too good. [/irony] The system should differ between those who actually log out and those who got kicked by either admin abuse or BE. If they can fix this, yeah that'd be grat.
  14. So, before wasting time with server hoppers and other glitch users, maybe fix the problems for those who like to playtest the game? So far, the most of the time i get these: "You were kicked from the game" (1 second after joining a server) "Connection failed" And a new one appeared today: "this server is locked" although it didn't had the lock symbol in the server browser. I know, it is early access and alpha and whatnot. But maybe putting the focus on the more serious problems instead of berries and such wouldn't be that bad. Actually i spend much more time in finding a suitable server than actually playing. Fix this.

Kicked off / connection failed / locked server

@Devs please open up the server browser, look for server titles like "private" or "join = kick" and similar (really not hard to find) and take necessary actions. Thank you.
  16. Again, kicked either by admin or by BE, i don't really care. Server hopper protection kicks in. I know that BI doesn't control BE but they're in close contact so it must be possible to program it in a way that kicked players aren't treated like server hoppers. For now, it is simply bad game design.
  17. That would make it even worse as then it is the Devs fault if they can't differ between server hopping and players being kicked. Although i doubt that these are BE kicks is i don't get messages mentioning BE.

Kicked off / connection failed / locked server

Yep, figured that out. Although it's remarkable how many of those "servers having issues" are out there. Besides that, still countless servers that kick players upon joining. Please fix that.

Kicked off / connection failed / locked server

Bump Still get "Connection lost" on every server with playercount 0/XX. Any ideas on that one?

    Bad community

Seems like DayZ is a honeypot, attracting the scum to keep them away from Rust.
  21. You know, i'm not stupid. There will always be KoS as there are always assholes in the world. It is not to completely stop KoS or give a penalty, no. It is about to give a simple reason not to. Actually there is no reason so i see why KoS is so common.
  22. @KoS you really don't get it, right? It's not about taking away reasons to shoot, it is about adding reasons not to shoot. Same goes for your list. Of course there are always reasons to shoot but there should be also reasons not to shoot. I admit, this would make the game harder as it introduces thinking ahead and planning for more than just 10 seconds ahead. I see it would make the game unplayable since you couldn't just continue like "ugh, it moves, i shoot". It would force you to think, really something that shouldn't happen to you, i feel your pain. Oh and i love the "no fantasy game mechanic" phrase since those are always real bullets that get shot, no fantasy game mechanic that simulates a bullet.
  23. That's exactly what is missing in DayZ actually. Not a crude morality system or something similar, just that a player is worth more than just the gear he has. What every human has in some sort: skills and knowledge. A bit OT but a good joke which fits pretty well: 2 buddies in africa on safari when suddenly they face a lion. One starts immediately to take off his heavy shoes: "Why the hell are you taking your shoes off right now?" "Without these heavy boots i can run faster!" "But no way that you can be faster than a lion!" "I don't have to be faster than the lion, i just have to be faster than you." If you can be faster than your buddy, it might save your life.
  24. Oh so wrong. The guy you killed yesterday could have had the knowledge and skills to save your life tomorrow. Bad luck i guess.
  25. DayZ should be somewhat realistic or at least authentic. And we all know that there are never consequences in the real world for killing someone. Stupid idea.
