Pokey (DayZ)

I can confirm this issue. The compass takes up half the lower screen, it covers your entire character when it's open. The GPS is also massive, and takes up a large portion of the lower left quarter of your monitor. This isn't on the map-screen, it's in-game. It started happening to me with the latest Arma beta patch a few weeks ago.

Herp-a-Derp people all up in this thread. I play DayZ very nicely on a 2011 Macbook Pro. Very fluid, decent settings, hell this thing runs Battlefield 3 (albeit with utter craptastic quality, not that much better than the 360 version). People tend to underestimate Macs as a gaming platform, with Bootcamp it actually plays rather well. Playing native under OSX is only good if you buy games specifically ported to Mac, and not just ported under a Wineskin (Feral Interactive are very good with this). Buy a gaming rig if you can, but don't discredit Macs as a gaming platform, they're pretty decent under Bootcamp.

Anything on your person is carried over: Clothing, weapons, main inventory and backpack and its inventory.

I have! But I'm not really one for chatting on a mic, so that's dissuading me a little. I probably will get whitelisted at some point, but I'm mostly playing DayZ+ at the moment, and have found a nice server. I decided to give it a go anyway, offering my medical chopper service, it didn't work and I was killed. Who thought trying to help people on pubs would be so hard? Because of that I've lost all my gear anyway, so this thread can bugger off to the graveyard!

Oh, I hate it too. I also hate hackers, and it seems I cannot go ten minutes in public without having my game ruined. If you know any good public servers, then please dish the names over! Rubarb and Custard, eh? I have half a pound in each trouser pocket. Feel free to dig on in there and grab them out.

So. I decided to go play some Public Hive games (despicable, I know). After several hacker sessions I finally had to force-quit the application. The hack that made me do this was really weird, it flashed up with AANN news, or something like that, and a news banner appeared on the bottom of the screen. After that it started turning orange and flashing, until my character collapsed onto his back. A zombie was chasing me whilst this was going on, I couldn't move so I had to quit. Now I'm simply stuck on the floor, no hourglass counting down, no nothing. I don't even think I'm getting hungry. He's breathing as if he's running, just laying on his back. I can move him around 360 degrees but nothing else. This is the reason the latest addition of 'nope, you can't log out lol' when in combat is seriously detrimental to legitimate players. I have no idea what the community developers were smoking when they thought this was a great idea, it simply empowers hackers even more. Rant over. Any help or advice? I've logged out and back in, and I cannot respawn.

Okay. I just logged back on and pressed C to stand. I have no idea how, but it worked. Thank buggery for that! thanks for the reply, Dan, much appreciated.

I don't think I'm even starving. I didn't see my food counter go down after thirty minutes of being logged in. I may need a reset, and only staff can do that. :( Smelly hackers.

I started playing on more populated servers last night. Spawned in at Kamenka, and within five minutes of searching the crappy spawn houses there I found a Ghille suit. What a find! Started to head north and stumbled across an Off Road Pickup hidden down a side banking, full of cooked meat, a DMR with three mags, and other lovely things. Promptly stole and stashed away the Off Road in a more secure location. Good times.

As the above poster said. If you don't have DayZ Commander yet, go and grab it. It's a fantastic browser/updater that goes far and beyond SixLauncher. It's very easy to download/downgrade patches with it.

Some points. You will die. Don't be disheartened by this fact. Major cities, on busy servers, are hotspots for PVP, and they especially like shooting freshly spawned players. Utilize a map, if you don't find one in game use an external map. Knowing your location, and what direction you're heading in (NSEW) is very important, learn that stuff. Patience is a virtue, and a skill that will save your life. Take it slow in cities and try not to attract attention (zoms and players) Always look around you as you move (left Alt) Learn which areas give you loot, and what kind of loot. Be cautious around high value areas like fire-stations and military areas. Essential gear to locate! Morphine: Heals broken limbs. Always have at least one vial on you at all times. Bandages: Stops bleeding. Always have at least four on your. Painkillers: Not as essential as the above, but still good to have. Removes the pain status (shaking, makes aiming a nightmare) Hatchet: The humble hatchet. Cuts wood, cuts zombies, cuts players. A silent weapon that is essential, using this takes practice, but learn it After those pieces of gear, you're pretty much set as you have all the essentials. A few very handy items you'll want to find are as follows. Compass Map Hunting Knife Matches (along with your hatchet/Hunting Knife, this allows you to cook raw meat which heals lots of blood and grants some freedom in the wild as you won't have to worry about food). Basics, really. Weapons aren't a big deal when you first start. Take it slow, it's a steep learning curve. Don't get mad, and it'll all be fine. And, most importantly, have fun!

First post! Okay, I've searched google, and the forums, dozens of times to try and find an answer to this or to see whether more people were having the same problem. I have managed to fully repair an ATV twice now, but over the past two days I haven't had any luck repairing wheels at all, and yes I have a Toolbox and the required parts. The option DOES show up on the mouse-wheel menu, I click to repair the wheel, the animation plays out and then nothing (even after the 'repair successful' blurb has shown up), no wheel no repair no anything. There are two specific examples of this that I've had, so I'll list them below. 1.) Military Off-road. -Mostly Red status vehicle found at Green Mountain (two of them, to be precise) -Attempted to repair all the wheels, no wheels appeared on the Rover, and they're still red in the drop-down menu. -Attempted to fix Hull with Scrap metal, this actually worked and it turned Green. -Attempted to fix Engine/Fuel Lines. Went from red to yellow status, engine can now be turned on. -Attempted to fix the Engine to green status by using another engine parts, no effect. -Finally attempted to attach another wheel, no wheels attached (despite having a toolbox, the animation playing, and 'repair successful'). 2.) Motorbike. -Mostly green status with lots of the fuel in the tank. Two wheels missing, and orange engine/Hull. -Managed to repair one wheel last night successfully (Back Wheel). -Managed to repair Engine to green status successfully last night. -Attempted to repair Front Wheel today (about 30 minutes ago), not successful (despite having a toolbox, animation playing, and blurb again). Any help would be great, I've only been playing for a week (albeit with fervent obsession), and I managed to tip my ATV over for the second time so I'm currently only in possession of a bus, bad times.

I shot a Rabbit that was at full speed. Which is much harder than shooting a bambie whilst he's searching through gear, you namby-pamby Bandits!

I don't actually see any issue with finding silenced weapons, simply because of the fact you don't have to find them. All you you need to find is any variant of the M4 or M16 (off the top of my head: M4A1, M4A1 CCO, M4A3 CCO, M4A3 Holo, M16A2, M16AXM203, M16AXACOG). Any of those weapons, when loaded with SD ammo, give silenced shots. It's quite easy to find one of those weapons, after that you only have to worry about other players hearing your shots.

Head over to the WarZ forums, I find it an endless source of hilarity (but maybe I'm just sad). Be warned; you'll come out dumber than when you went in.

Weapons on spawn? Millions of vehicles on the map? Both of these are bad, but there's one thing I really dislike in a server; constant bloody daytime. Why would anyone want to spend all their time in daylight? It boggles my mind (I love DayZ at night). Strictly Vanilla here. Love it.

I've found that the Backpacks have become much rarer. Before I could stumble across several Alice packs in the same town, I've only found one and it was in NWAF barracks, I found the British Assault Pack not long after finding it so I didn't get much use out of the Alice.

I don't know what you're all complaining about. It's just as easy as it was before the update. What are you doing? Sprinting through towns? Shooting non silenced guns in towns? Other retarded things? All I can say to this topic is derp.

Mm, I read that. I'm still not sure how it respawns after you've collected it. I'll see how it works once the server I'm on updates.
