Dallas 48 [TOP- BR] Admin Abuse
WildGunsTomcat replied to [email protected]'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Now, this DOES sound like abuse. You had zero proof that anyone was hacking, but you banned people? Clear abuse. Also, the AS50 and Ghille suit are common spawn items now at chopper wrecks.... You banned improperly. You abused your admin power. -

seattle 74 Admin abuse. please read..
WildGunsTomcat replied to lzugl's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
When a server restarts, sometimes it doesn't connect to the hive properly so vehicles disappear. It sometimes takes another server restart to do it. Also, your claim of admin abuse has no teeth. I see no admin abusing anything here, just another server restart causing another random player to lose his stuff...so the random player freaks out and blames someone. It's a lot like religion really. -
Hi Guys, So some of you know who I am, and revile me. Some of you don't, and will be given the chance to revile me. :D I've been playing DayZ for quite a long time now, almost since the inception. And I do love the mod, I won't call it a game because it's a mod for Arma 2, and not a standalone. I wanted to share my thoughts on what I think is good, and what I think is bad with the mod. First, we'll start with the good. As much as I bitch about it, the community isn't that bad. Sure, in the past there was more teamwork and you could walk up to a player and not immediately get shot in the noggin...but I've made some very good friends through DayZ. Now it feels more deathmatch, less survival co-op. But, I think a little evolution in a mod is a healthy thing, no? With every change in the mod comes a change in the playerbase. Some guys that used to play are gone, and new guys are coming in all the time...that's a good thing. The constant change keeps the dev team alive with new ideas. This ultimately is helpful. I know there's a lot of fur flying about "COD Noobs" and such...but those COD noobs are showing weaknesses in the premise, which will ultimately make it stronger. I digress. Another thing I think is wonderful about this game is the sheer scale of it. I'm an Arma 2 vet, I have said this ad nauseum in the past. But before this game, I never fully realized how HUGE this map is. When you're flying in a chopper or cutting across country in an LAV...this map seems tiny. But since this mod forced me to hoof it everywhere...I've realized how finely crafted the map is...even with the bugs it is beautiful. Now, onto the bad. I think this mod has shown how ugly people can be. I'm not even really talking about the shoot first, ask questions later policy that some people have...it is just a game in reality. What I mean is the constant threads of "You shot me and stole my stuff...you're the lowest scum of the low..." or "This admin did this to me, even though it was most likely a server issue...I want him blacklisted NOW!" I've been involved in many of those threads, and I walked away with a few forum warnings under my belt because I have no tolerance for stupid sometimes, and I say what I feel. Wrong or right. Another thing I think is wrong with this mod is the zombies themselves. Now, I realize that this is being worked on constantly, so no disrespect to the dev team. We're all at the end of the day at the mercy of the Arma 2 engine and all of its derpness. That being said, the zombies don't threaten me at all. They don't scare me, which is what I think you would want in a zombie mod. I understand the high-minded ideals that Rocket is trying to pour into this mod...that the players are more dangerous than the zombies..etc etc. But, I don't buy that. I know how to deal with people, mostly. I deal with people every day in real life. I don't deal with Zeds on a daily basis...so when I fire up this mod...I want to feel like "What the fuck am I dealing with here...oh sweet fuck I'm going to die." I don't feel that. Anyway, this is becoming tl;dr...and I have been thinking about this for months now but didn't want to post it because frankly I'm tired of dealing with trolls and haters. But, I figured now was as good a time as any. I welcome conversation.

UK34, EXCESSIVE Admin Abuse [With Proof]

The better man walked away from this thread ages ago. I wouldn't show you idiots my logs either. Why should he? The only people he has to prove anything to is the devs. I haven't seen them ask him for shit. Thread over. Idiots disperse. -

We've been considering it for a while, not that it's any of your concern or business. I'm tired of supporting an ungrateful, childish community. And I didn't lick anybody. Me and Knightcat put our box forward to SUPPORT this mod, they asked for hosters...we were one of the first to put our hats into the ring. We're very much sick of this community.
-
-
See but that's the thing...what makes you think we need your support? A little arrogant no?
-
I really don't care if you come into my servers or not lol And who is raging? Some of you are very thickheaded and don't understand basic ideas.

Ah well, maybe if they were more selective people wouldn't be "pointing out fallacies" about something they agreed to when signing up. Listen dude. I think you're confused. I agreed to the DayZ rules when I started hosting. Yes. I did NOT agree to have my BOX...my SERVER BOX taken away from me if a DayZ dev gets pissy with me. That's what I am saying. I'm not arguing the rules, I'm arguing paying money to a server host that bends to the will of a Dev team. If I shut BE off on my servers, they can blacklist me. They CANNOT take my server box away from me that is paid for. Does it make sense now? I'm not arguing the fucking DayZ rules...I'm arguing the Devs being able to break a fucking contract you made between your HOSTER and YOURSELF. Does that clarify it for you? Christ Almighty. Apparently you don't understand the term "suspended" You're being over dramatic about exactly what happened here, and making yourself look like you're wearing your ass for a hat. The server is still there. It hasn't been brought out back and lit on fire. They didn't wipe it and give it to a different customer(which is in their right). If you lack the maturity and personal fortitude to deal with server hosting, then don't do it. *facepalm* Go read the original post dude. Suspended means that your server is taken away from you. I think it's mostly Europeans that don't quite understand what is happening here.

Ah well, maybe if they were more selective people wouldn't be "pointing out fallacies" about something they agreed to when signing up. I have no issue with Seattle 35 being removed. DayZ has been dropping in population anyways, and most of the servers haven't been at 50 people all the time during the day. I'd like for my server to be full 24/7, so that I have more to do. I've been being forced to go to other servers to hunt people. Which is bad news for them :D I think however if you pay for a months service and they terminate it mid-way, they should give you a refund. If not. Thats a pretty shitty service and I agree with wildguns there. I wouldn't take them to court because the money isn't important to me. But I would indeed blast them. Word of mouth will eventually do damage. Specially if you make it public they don't refund when they only give you partial service, no matter what the reason is. Thats bullshit, and poor business ethics. At least give them a partial refund. Its a business and businesses need to show they care about their customers. Exactly. Thank you. It is a shitty business practice to fold to the whim of a dev team when the contract isn't between you and the dev team...it's between you and your client. You should at least give refunds.

Well it's not affiliated with DayZ I assume from the heading. It's a private hive...which is okay. Know why? This is a MOD...not a licensed game. It is a MOD for Arma 2. Let's not forget that.
-
Not necessarily. NFO servers wouldn't cut me off from my/Knightcat's box because a DayZ dev told them to. Never happen in a million years. Why? We're paying them 180 a month....DayZ devs are not.
-
Good Lord at the fanboy bullshit going on in this thread. You guys have your noses so far up the dev teams' asses I can't tell where they end and you begin.

Yeah I see it now. Had to look over it again. Again' date=' like I said, you're an idiot if you host with HFB. Simple. I wouldn't pay for such ludicrous rules. [/quote'] And you think that if your server was caught without battle eye, they wouldn't just blacklist your IP? Effectively cutting you off from hosting DayZ? HBS Had two options. Let DayZ blacklist the IP (and fuck over others using the same IP) or suspend the persons account. so either take out 4 servers (3 following the rules) or take out one rule breaking server. SUCH A DIFFICULT CHOICE. I really think I do understand what your trying to get at wild, but really the way your stating it probably is not the clearest. You wouldn't host with HBS because you feel that even if you break the rules (set forth by DayZ Mod itself, that you are required to follow when hosting a server regardless of if its a box, or a rented VPS) you shouldn't be in trouble, and should be able to keep hosting DayZ. Correct me if I'm wrong? Ultimately HFB doesn't have two legally acceptable options. They need to isolate that server instance from the other three so that it can be blocked without affecting their clients in good standing. Technically it is stupid to have a DayZ server that is blacklisted but, they did pay for the server for the pre-defined period of time and even with it being blacklisted, HFB is contractually obligated to continue to provide that service through the already paid time period. This. I think some of you are confused about contractual obligations. Like I said, at the end of the day....you're stupid for paying for a server with HFB...knowing that if you break just ONE rule...you forfeit your server and the money you paid at the whim of a dev team for a mod on Arma 2. It blows my mind.

Correct me if I'm wrong? Nope. Not at all. If you break DayZ's rules you shouldn't be allowed to host. What I AM saying is, why would you pay money to host with someone that can be dictated to by a MOD's dev team? I think it's silly that someone would sign a contract with a company like that...that's all.
-
Yeah I see it now. Had to look over it again. Again' date=' like I said, you're an idiot if you host with HFB. Simple. I wouldn't pay for such ludicrous rules. [/quote'] Funny. You follow the same rules as a server admin no matter what server you run with DayZ. You'd be blacklisted from the HIVE otherwise. There is nothing wrong with server providers or the DayZ staff setting rules for you to run DayZ on a server. Just because you paid for the server and host it, doesn't mean you can break the rules or not have them apply to you altogether. That's not the issue at all. The issue is having the dev team tell a server provider to cut you off from your own server you PAID for...for not adhering to a MOD's rules. It's not about breaking DayZ's rules...it's having DayZ dictate to a server hoster who they can sell servers to. HFB is in cahoots with DayZ...that's fine. I would never pay a server hoster my money if they were at the mercy of a fucking MOD's dev team. Never in a million years. What's so hard to understand about this?

Ohhhhhh yes they did. That's why I didn't see it earlier. You sneaky fuckers.
