I have come across some very rude' date=' childish guys in quite a few servers. So much so that I don't really even speak in servers anymore...and I shoot to kill every time I meet someone new...because...and yes this is me GENERALIZING again...I assume that they're going to be a troll because 99.9 percent of the time they are. The only guys I play this mod with are [Legion'] guys because they don't give me shit and we work as a team. Sorry for having a fucking opinion.

If there is one thing I can't stand' date=' its people who make wild generalizations about "new people" or people who are different, maybe have a different culture and language, simply because they "don't like it". You say the previous community were "elitist, snobby assholes" but the new community are "exceptionally trollish assholes". Based on nothing but your own experiences, treating those experiences as an absolute fact of the whole. Given the accusations that you seem to smash out to nebulous groups of people, I'm not surprised you get a hostile response. I developed an instant dislike for you rather quickly. Please move along sir! [/quote'] I didn't accuse anyone of anything. I simply stated that, and you are correct on this, based on my experience the majority of people I have seen in game have been assholes. I also said that, again based on my own experience, the people I have played with on Arma 2 in the past have been elitist, snobby assholes. And I really don't care if you dislike me rocket. I have time and again said that what you've done here is magnificent, and given you praise on almost every thread. But to the point of what OP is saying, he has a legitimate beef here. And he's not alone. I'm sorry you don't want to hear it, that's your perogative. You can surround yourself in the guys that are in love with the mod, and ignore the guys that paid for Arma before this flood of casuals came in and started worshipping at your feet. That's all I'll say on the matter. Dislike me all you want, no fucks were given this day. And I fully expect you to ban me for this, because I've seen you ban other people for not praying at your feet. Not gonna happen here bud.

I killed another player, and as I was switching into my bandit clothes it teleported me into the middle of the ocean south of Kamenka. I did a search and saw a lot of threads about this, but no official responses on how to fix it. Any help would be appreciated.

/Signed. I agree 100% OP. I have seen the biggest group of trolls and assfucks ever join Arma 2 in the past month. And it sucks.

Arma 2 isn't like Battlefield or Call of Duty. You can't run around firing AP rockets at people and expect to kill them. HE is called for against people in Arma 2. Hope this helps. -

Go play L4D then... Us people here look for a realistic game. In real life you would be dead in a matter of seconds if you thought you could hack up 5 zombies with a machete. Dude, if you honestly think that in real fucking life you wouldn't pick up a golf club or bat to get the fucking infected psycho assholes that are trying to eat you...away from your personage....you need your head examined. Also, I came here for realism too dude. As I have said 300 billion times, I have played since OFP....I am a milsim gamer. Melee weapons ARE realistic. *Facepalm* -

First Impressions of DayZ
WildGunsTomcat replied to TheHappyPeanut's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yeah I can see how this would be hard for someone that has never played Arma before. In Vanilla Arma it's not really hard to find your friends because you have access to choppers or cars....so in this mod it's really the first time everyone is forced to be foot mobile. Also, in Vanilla Arma everyone has ready access to Nightvision...so the devs didn't really think about how hard it would be for everyone to travel at night. That's why the night is pitch ass black...to really emulate the night in reality. But yeah I agree with you on those two points...many people I know get sick of trying to find each other....and they also can't stand playing at night. I guess the only reason I like playing at night is because I know Chernarus so well I can navigate pretty much without the map. Stick in there man, I'm sure Rocket has plans for the night problem. -
I'm having a hard time believing that there are no bicycles/motorcycles/regular cars around Chernarus. Even in a post Soviet state there would be bikes laying around or civilian cars...quite a few. Am I talking out of my ass or are they not there because they're bugged and being worked on? Thanks in advance for your replies.

I would consider it to be a valid experiment on the ability of video games to warp the minds of people too weak to know the difference between reality and fantasy. Killing pixels is not the same as killing a person' date=' so I don't feel any morality one way or the other when I shoot someone in a video game. I have killed people in real life, so I know how bad it feels. It irks me when people try to say that a video game is an excellent measure of morality. It isn't. At all. It's a game. It is meant to be enjoyed...nothing more. I enjoy getting a one-up on people in this game and stealing their shit. I don't enjoy it in real life. [/quote'] Do you suggest that morality comes into play only in the matters of life and death? Do you suggest that morality even comes into play in a video game? I think that morality comes into play in nearly all human interactions. As far as games go, I think there's a scale. On one end is team-killing other player in a casual shooter with 5 minute respawn periods. On the other end is maliciously destroying someones intricate creation on a multiplayer minecraft server. Somewhere in the middle is killing a player in Day-Z mod and effectively nullifying last 5 hours of his play. Fair enough. In that light I can see how morality would come into play. But for me personally, I guess I would say that I really don't care how long a guy plays the game...because that is the consequence of playing the game...you die sometimes. I would rather kill another player and live than be killed by that player and have my 5 hour experience wiped out. I would consider it to be a valid experiment on the ability of video games to warp the minds of people too weak to know the difference between reality and fantasy. [/quote'] Do you suggest that morality comes into play only in the matters of life and death? Do you suggest that morality even comes into play in a video game? No disrespect to you , but I think you are very biased towards morality experiments. Probably due to your own personal experiences. While killing people in real life is not comparable directly to killing people in a game , some aspects of it bleed over. Our brains are weird like that :D It would be inhumane to kill people for the sake of experiments so duplicating sensations using a video game is an apt way of going about this kind of an experiment. Also fair enough. I don't see it that way but I can see how you would see it that way. ;0) -

Just because you find it preposterous doesn't mean it's invalid. The OP even said it was a fair argument. So give it a rest. -

You're making the assumption that due to my low post count and semi-recent reg date that I don't know what's transpired on these forums nor do I know your repeated attempts to quell discussion regarding player actions. You're wrong of course - I've been following these forums and playing the mod since it was first released to the general public. Moreover, nowhere in the forum rules does it state that people are not allowed to discuss player actions or their public behavior. It makes specific provisions against harassment and offensive content - nothing close to which been posted in this thread (or most of the threads you have locked and or deleted). Your repeated attempts to quell discussion of other players actions has however drawn notice and that's why I'm posting here. I had assumed originally that we would be able to have a mature discussion on these forums, however if you would prefer to take this to a private message and not have your "moderator" status questioned in public, I would be more than willing to oblige. The thing is my friend, there have been many threads made about [Legion] in the past... And Rocket has said specifically that there are to be no more threads bitching about [Legion] servers. If you want to bitch about them, go to their forums. That's what he's talking about. We have all heard the stories....and we don't really care. If you have a problem with them...take it up with them. This forum is for the devs to get feedback from the community, not for people to whine about a certain clan. That's all. -

I think you'll find a bit of ribbing falls well within the allowances of this forum. But, as the saying goes, if you can't stand the heat... cry for an adult to save you ...? Is that how it goes? Something like that, anyway. I've earnestly contributed to this thread in prior pages, so your pompous assertion that I'm a troll is fairly limp. In fact, it's taken its latest turn at your behest. You can't say things like, "I didn't read any of this but nobody gets to discuss whatever it is that you guys are talking about because I once killed a human being; also, your insults are ineffectual and I'd cream you with my own were it not for the fact that my warning level is currently at 99%," and then scream like a midnight jogger in Central Park when someone lobs something your way. Like I said. I'll let the mods deal with you. I don't feel like getting banned for a troll. Also, my post was a contribution. I was saying that there is a difference between killing in a video game, and killing in real life. What I find incredible is people thinking that this game is somehow an interesting morality experiment. It's not. Go kill someone in real life....and then come kill someone on a screen. There's a difference. Ask someone that has actually seen combat, not sat on his fat ass and played video games his whole life...then comes on here like an arm-chair intellectual...calling someone that makes a valid post "as intelligent as a shower curtain ring". I think the mods will agree, insults aren't necessary....so keep on insulting dude. Your wake up call will come soon. You came at me first....remember that. -
