Rocket, I am part of [Legion]. We have sent you an email, and Nomad has posted on one of the threads about this....but I figured I would set up a completely new thread in the hopes of you reading this. We would like to know what is happening with our Atlanta servers. We have had no contact with you for several days now, and most of us have to real way to get a hold of you. We need our server back online, as our clan is basically paying for a box that we can't use...and it is causing us a little bit of distress...I'm sure I don't need to tell you that. With respect, can you please contact Nomad or Chaos as soon as you read this? Or could you respond to this thread so we can get some information on what is going on? Thank you sir.

It's part of the agreement when you host a dayz mod that they have to have root access to the box you're using. Also, as Rocket told us...we were having a ghost server issue...so he needed to investigate it. All I can say is that, every server owner should be disagreeing with this. Fair enough they may require admin access to certain parts of the system, thats just the way windows works, but it should be controlled as much as possible. If anything the fact that you cant access your server any more is the best example of why admin access should be heavily restricted, especially when its a 3rd party accessing your box. If/when you get admin access back I dont see how you can trust your server, since you have no access you cant monitor what they are doing with your box and as you mentioned, its used to host more than just dayz, what about your other users? Audit audit audit as soon as you get control back. And I strongly recommend you find a way of restricting access to the dayz team (and anyone else) to only the areas they require. (that goes for any server owner) Oh I totally agree. I was like wtf? When Nomad told me that he couldn't access the box and that he had been shut out of it by the DayZ team. But, I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt....and when we didn't get a response to any emails or anything...I made this thread to try and get some input as to why we can't access our server box.

How is it total disrespect when we are completely locked out of the box we pay 180$ a month for? We can't start up our Minecraft server' date=' regular Arma server, or anything for that matter, the connections are all bounced, we're basically paying each month (as of right now) to say we have a pretty VPS. Perhaps Wildguns went about this the wrong way with the wording of the title, or perhaps people just jumped the gun and started spewing inaccuracies about Legion, thinking Legion is Goon Squad (which we are not), just as people assumed we were Pandemic Legion. I'm not trying to insult anyone. What I am is pissed off that we're constantly under attack from this community, and being accused of shit we didn't do. Well I guess that cuts to the heart of the matter, and why the original post was made in the first place. The veteran Arma guys....the ones that have been loyal to BI and the Arma series since OFP aren't used to this influx of guys that are run and gunners. Does that make sense? We're not used to this lone wolf style of play on Arma. That's what we're trying to get at here. I wasn't trying to generalize anything. I'm grateful for new blood in the game, but it's a bit of a culture shock to go from guys that were for the most part always friendly...to new guys that are pissfucks in chat and just shoot you without a fucking word. Again, I wasn't trying to down the mod or any of the new guys....I was just seconding OP's concerns that the Arma community is being drowned in this pile of new guys that just...well....are downright jerks at times. Again, this is based on MY EXPERIENCE and not indicative of everyone's experience. I'll have to put that disclaimer on everything.

I agree. There are a lot of mean attitudes in Arma now, especially on this mod's servers. That's what we're trying to talk about here, but Rocket doesn't want to hear it. And I don't understand why. I have come across some very rude' date=' childish guys in quite a few servers. So much so that I don't really even speak in servers anymore...and I shoot to kill every time I meet someone new...because...and yes this is me GENERALIZING again...I assume that they're going to be a troll because 99.9 percent of the time they are. The only guys I play this mod with are [Legion'] guys because they don't give me shit and we work as a team. Sorry for having a fucking opinion. so its just a problem in the chat then? umm, did you even read the OP? claiming every single new person in the game is an asshole is not a good way to voice your concern I never said every single new person was an asshole. I said the majority of the ones that I have encountered....me personally....in MY EXPERIENCE...have been pricks. Not just in the chat, in the game as a whole. No one wants to work together. Everyone wants to be a lone wolf and kill everything that moves. If that was what you were trying to accomplish with this mod Rocket, then kudos to you. Bravo.
