    Playing at night

I wouldn't mind seeing DayZ go with an accelerated clock. It would be great to make adjustments for day/night within a single game session. The accurate time thing is cool in concept, but it just leads to people not playing in the dark enough

    Too hard since 1.7.5.1

Surprised people are freaked out so much about this. Losing zombies is still incredibly easy in forests or through buildings, and you can massacre legions of them with a hatchet. The only adjustment I've made is prioritizing a hatchet as a swappable weapon. Way, WAY too much crying over the changes. By the tone of the board, you would think they were running indoors. When that day comes, we can talk. Until then, get a grip everyone. DayZ zombies are still pushovers.
  3. And loot would not magically reappear every 10 minutes. I agree, Day Z is not a reality simulator. It's a roguelike multiplayer sandbox that happens to involve zombeis and compels player action via a basic survival system.
  4. The main things that I want to see are the new zombie animations/style and the new inventory system. If they squash bugs, limit hacks, handle servers internally, and improve the navigation of the UI... Wow. GOTY
  5. People miss the point of KOS playstyles on DayZ. It has to do with one thing and one thing only: The rush. That is irrepressible. No rule changes, incentives, etc will deter people looking for that rush. Most of the snipers don't care about looting. They want the kill, and that's it. Run and gun bandits will still be able to pick up a rifle and slow down zombies through buildings enroute to plugging the poor soul prone crawling into the hospital. For me, I came into DayZ expecting the hardest PC gaming experience I've ever had. So when I learned that I could just truck through town and lose zombies easily, it felt like cheating. And the idea of another player NOT trying to kill me on sight is a bizarre surprise rather than the norm. If I'm equipped with anything more than a hatchet, I expect to be a target.
  6. I did a run at a grocery store last night. Tried 2 ways: *Stealth: No go. Zombies come charging even if you're crawling and it quickly becomes a nightmare. *Run straight in with a Hatchet on, then hack out the followers inside a building: Works like a charm. I definitely think people are going to have to recognize the hatchet as the "town zombie weapon".

    Try something different!

Last night I had the opportunity to kill 2 guys and take their Bus. I didn't, played friendly and asked for a ride. They shot me and drove off. I should have KOS and lold away with their gear. Lesson learned haha
  8. Thanks, I'll give it a run
  9. My friend and I have been learning the hard way for a while now, but the game has me hooked. I'm good enough now that I know multiple ways to gear up, and can navigate around pretty easily. I don't hunt players, but get forced to kill a lot when people don't respond and start creeping around. I've been to the airforce base and back, looted some military gear, etc. But! The wall I end up running into is: "Where can we explore next? Ok cool." Get there, explore a bit, take a risk or two and end up getting killed. Either by a sniper in a bizarre area (maybe hacking? Sometimes it seems SO crazy to be in the middle of nowhere and get silently sniped) or just straight hacked into the ocean or insta killed. I understand that Cherno and Elektro are usually off limits once you're geared, etc. But I hear about people stocking up cars with all kinds of loot, and really feeling like they're getting a leg up on things. I always feel like I'm 10 minutes away from a cheap death or hack at all times. Any advice on how to take the next step?
