Im playing stock DayZ. No servers show up, regardless. Ping set to 0 (Which means all server will come up). The only servers I get are Australian ones with pings over 1000.

I have a question? I was going to get the Alienware but what problems do they have besides being overpriced? Because I was thinking of buying one, then some people mentioned things like overheating and stuff like that.

ArmA II towns need more love.

What I mean, there's only those small changes. Not layout wise. If you changed the layout, you'd have a new-er feeling to the game. -
Locking sound when trying to open a "locked" Door.
alaskafish (DayZ) posted a topic in General Discussion
You know how all the buildings are no fully enterable. They have a few rooms that you can't go in. If they (the devs) are going to fix this in the future, that's great. I'd like to see more rooms in the ATC towers. Otherwise, they should add a door locked sound or text that pops up when you try to open these doors that aren't really doors but something pasted on the wall. It'll help newbies out when they try to open a door that's not actually a door. Sorry if the writing is awful, my hands are cold. -
Okay, here me out. I went up north to the new town of Svetlojarsk, and dear god, it looks amazing. It looks like an actual town, or even an actual village. It looks natural too. Just the small things like the stairs on the side of the roads and the new buildings, it makes it look like an actual living, breathing, town. Even the way the roads work, the way the fences are placed, ect. Svetlojarsk Map Anyway, When I made my way back down, I walked into Berezino, and I must say, the layout, the roads, and everything is just... "Me no like". It looks like a very weird village city thing. What I mean is there is one main road, through a field and there's a just like 2 buildings on behind each other on the road. There's houses with not even a path way to it. In fact, there's this one house, completly enclosed by it's own fence, not even a gate way into it. It looks like a poor mans Sim City project, just spamming houses with no roads near them. They need to change these cities from the mod. Walking into Svetlojarsk was like a completely new feeling for a DayZ Vet, so I think it's time for these cities to change completely. Add those new buildings, hell, add a side walk. Put some trees and some more roads. There doesn't need to be just one road going through the town, make an intersection, put some stop signs or some traffic lights. Make the town center (the one with the tank) more realistic. Add some newspaper vending stands. Some cars on the streets. A Parking lot for the hospital. Berezino Map I personally think the Devs went too quickly through the original ArmA II towns. They just added those semi-enter-able buildings. Novy sobor had the updates, and I think they should do that. But too ALL towns. Hopefully the devs could fix the towns. I don't know if it's on their work list, or what not. But I really hope it's something they're gonna add in the future. I hope they don't think Cherno is finished.

What I mean is that, obviously everyone plays through steam, it's just that when the game was released on steam, the people who found out about the game through steam and knew nothing about it are doing the combat logging. I know not everyone is, but a lot of the DayZ veterans are trying to play the game as a hero, not like a bandit, they're trying to communicate with other people and help. They're trying this because they want a good community. But when these noobs (who came from steam) join, they don't know the best way to play, or how to socialize in game, they're not use to losing gear, and so they combat log.

regardless, the satellites are in space, still sending things back, and still making electricity (solar panels). I think it's possible from them to work. Unless it's a GPS that requires data to be sent to an antenna first then to the gps.

Feedback: Fists Up Sprint Is Overpowered

They'll add fatigue. It's not OP either. If someone shoots you, you can't get your gun in time, nor a melee weapon. -
Logging Out - Expermimental Branch 114782
alaskafish (DayZ) replied to apollovulcan's topic in General Discussion
Should be both. Sit down for 30 seconds, logout, character stays on server for another 30 seconds. You can't connect to another server in those 30 seconds. Stops combat logging, ghosting, and some server hopping. -
Fix The North West Airfield (Nwaf) [Civilianize]
alaskafish (DayZ) replied to alaskafish (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
I think Balota isn't big enough to support the planes such as the one that crashed into the hotel in cherno. That's the whole reason this thread is up. I wondered why a giant propeller plane crashed into the Cherno Hotel. First, I thought it was landing at balota, or taking off, but balota is much too small for planes like that. There's no taxi space, and I can't picture two of those planes at Balota in one sitting. And it makes sense that the International airport is far from the city. The drive from JFK to New York City is about 15 minutes. Just now, I timed the drive (in ArmA II) from the south most part of NWAF to cherno at 60 mph and got 17 minutes and 56 seconds. Balota is about a 1 to 2 minute drive, if not less. Again, I'm not saying change NWAF to civilian, I mean make it civilian and military. JFK (sorry for the over used example) is for civilian planes, that's what we see. But the military uses it as a runway for large military aircraft, like the hangers where we civilians can't go. So half of the airport can be for civilians, whereas the other can be for military. -
Fix The North West Airfield (Nwaf) [Civilianize]

Honestly, it looks like the same old airstrip from the mod. A run down Russian military base is what it is. I'd rather see it more civilian based, but with a few military buildings here and there. Like just add some civilian buildings and keep the military loot sights. My reasoning for this is that when someone says "Let's go to NWAF" that simply means, lets get some guns and stuff. And personally, NWAF shouldn't be a military airfield, it should be an airport. I know loads of you will think that it will make it a bigger hotspot. And yes, it would, that's kind of the point. We need the 'big daddy' of hotspots. This place. We want people to think not twice, but 5 times before they go to it. Here's what I'd like to see with the new NWAF: Firstly, I'd like to see a terminal building. Something not big like JFK or Heathrow, but something small. Maybe a big bigger than the image I have provided. Something with some ticketing booths, metal detectors and security, and then the waiting area with some Duty Free shops and stuff. Then you can have two boarders... you know those things with the walkways that connect to a plane? Maybe you could have one attached to a plane you can actually go inside and loot. Or maybe there could be no boarders, so you have to do it the old fashioned way; go outside and board it through a ladder outside. I'd also love to see a new and improved ATC tower. The one we have now is this run of the mill, military one, that looks like it belongs at an airfield. Not an airport. Something with a lot more floors, taller. Maybe there could be military and supplies there. Lastly, I'd like to see some random things, like a parking lot full of cars to loot. Like those parking lots you can park your car in when you travel? Or maybe hotel like the one in cherno minus the crashed plane. I'd also like to see a crashed in the field south of the NWAF. As if it was coming in for a landing but crashed. It may symbolize, "hey, your close to NWAF, get ready. I'd like to see some garages for those aircraft maintenance vehicles. Maybe when vehicles are added, we can start driving around cherno with our ladder truck or what not. EDIT: I think Balota isn't big enough to support the planes such as the one that crashed into the hotel in cherno. That's the whole reason this thread is up. I think it's the steam noobs that are combat logging the most. They're too attached to their gear, and don't have good DayZ etiquette.

Combat Logging and Server Hopping [Suggestions]
alaskafish (DayZ) replied to NathanShepard's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
The server hopping idea is awful. Just saying. What if I join a server, and it's night, so I leave? I can't since I'm locked to a night server What if I join a server, but the ping is too high? I can't leave, since I'm locked in. What if my friend says to join "this" server, but I join the wrong server? Can't leave, locked in. I don't think you thought of this ideas... -
It's been about 2 weeks, and I have no server's popping up.

Thanks. That's all i needed. See, I live right outside of the United States due to my job with the UN, and I like to play some dayZ here and there. Generally my ping is 102.... for a host near some buds where I'm from. -
