More sandbox Pvp then survival?
rudeboy (DayZ) replied to Evilsausage's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I guess I just don't see the problem. Well I see problems but the pvp isn't very high on that list. There is a flavor for everyone really. I have a server that I use as my DayZ experience where I am a hero and have tents and lots of survival loot. I have a server I use for pvp where that is the goal and I rarely leave the shore. I also have a server that is spawn with a sniper rifle. I stalk the woods around towns and try to hone my skills at sneaking up and killing them or I hone my skills at counter sniping. Basically, I play to my mood and I must say that I play my DayZ experience less and less as I have everything I need and don't really have much more to do as far as survival. When I do play there lately, I find myself going pvp as I will watch a town from the outskirts while my brother is in town. I tell him where players are and we observe to see if anyone kos. If they do, we kill the offender and guard the loot of both until the player who was kos comes back and we let him have his loot and/or the offenders loot. That is all we can really find to do as we have become so efficient at gearing up ourselves and have 6 tents full of everything we could possibly need to survive scattered in strategic locations. We actually get excited when a tent is found and we need to loot again. The fact that you can be fully geared to survive in an hour or 2 is more of an issue than the pvp in my opinion. Once geared, what else is there to do. We have become bored with the survival aspect. It is too easy. At times I wish there were 20 or so roaming AI bikers looking to rape and pillage that I could go against as killing players seems to make you an outcast. I did have fun the other day after killing a guy who was trying to sneak up on me and after I did he announced over side chat that I had just killed him moments after spawning even though he was sneaking up on me with an M4 in hand and a M40 sniper in his pack. Next thing I knew I was being hunted by half the server as they thought I was killing fresh spawns. I decided not to let everyone know that he was far from a fresh spawn and relished in the challenge. It got crazy at that point and I actually really enjoyed defending myself from the onslaught of players trying to find and kill me. I stayed right there in balota and just moved from one location to another killing them until someone got the better of me. Basically, as a survival game, DayZ is extremely easy. Gear up, hide in the woods and live a long and prosperous life. If you do not want to kill others, what else is there to do? I have visited every spot on the map so there is nothing new to see. Yes, you can kill bandits and what not but that is still pvp which means you cannot complain if that is what you do. So what else is there to do. I can join a clan but why. The only purpose is to pvp or gather even more loot than I already have so I can sit and look at it while giving myself a good job pat on the back. Make survival harder and you will impact the amount of pvp I believe. I guess I am just rambling. Carry on. -
People shooting freshspawns
rudeboy (DayZ) replied to Sem4ever's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I have lost all compassion in this game. I have never been a bandit but I believe I will be soon. The number of times I have been in some tents and had an unarmed player say "don't shoot me, I'm friendly and then as soon as he finds a gun I'm dead. Or, they come at me unarmed claiming friendly just so their buddy can shoot me from behind and they loot me. I have given warnings to "fresh spawns" that there was a sniper in the direction they were moving in just to have them shoot at me after I have moved on. Offered gear to folks I found in the wilderness just to have them wait for me to move and shoot me in the back. So now, I trust my brother and everyone else can DIAF. I don't shoot guys on the shore but if you are moving towards a weapon spawn, you will be killed. If you have a weapon and are moving towards me, you will be killed. If you are moving towards loot I want, you will be killed. If you have loot I want, you will be killed. Don't get me wrong, I have watched many a men running across the map with no idea I am watching and let them live but I don't even put effort into communication anymore. It is pointless in 90% of my encounters. I am done dying for being a nice guy. It always turns out bad and I get tired of spawning in Kamenka. You can call it a dick move all you want but I am here to survive and you are just in my way. -
The most elegant solution to playerkilling on SA and possibly dayz mod
rudeboy (DayZ) replied to alanford's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I try not to kill other players on my home server. If I want to do that I go to a pvp server or go play COD. I am a hero on my home server and not that it means anything but I just don't like to kill others. That being said, the rush I get from this game is from other players. The thought of being seen or having a standoff with someone I don't know and surviving is intense. I have been held up once and it was glorious. The thoughts racing through my head on whether I should give it a go or not. Wondering if he had help or was going it alone. All that had to be processed in a matter of a couple of seconds. It was great. The closest I have ever come to that kind of feeling was when I played the first Resident Evil the first time. Observing a town I want to loot and seeing a player or 2 or 3 there already and making a decision on how to proceed. Which way is he traveling, what weapon does he have, where do I want to go and will he be a threat to my advance. All this is what makes this game great. I would not want that to go away. I don't mind harder zombies and maybe that would curb some of the KOS but I really don't mind. Riding that fear is what keeps me sharp. If I am KOS, I was being stupid and became to comfortable. This game isn't supposed to be comfortable. If I am KOS I deserved it for letting my guard down. I imagine in a real apocalypse, there would be buttloads of bandit types who would kill me for my shoes if they needed them. Hell, we aren't even in an apocalypse and you can still get killed for your shoes. Edit: Also, not many things scare me in the real world and I am not a badass by any means. The one thing that does scare me are people. Not in a sense that I don't want to leave my house but in a sense that people are capable of some morbid S**t. I would be less worried about a brain dead zombie than a demented, calculating human. -
I have wanted to use that M16 with ACOG but I just haven't found one yet. I love ACOGS. Have one on my Bravo Company AR.

My favorite loadout is: Primary Weapon: M14 Aim Secondary Weapon: Anything silenced and if not, anything at all. Sidearms are plentiful. Pack: DMR I love this loadout because I only have to worry about one type of ammo and I have serious thumping power for any range up to 800m.

an ever expanding list
rudeboy (DayZ) replied to barronvonmarlon's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
No. I had a hacker in a server I was on. He was all over side chat talking about it. I put his name in my friends list and anytime I see him on I go to the server and announce he is a hacker. Had one server thank me as most were able to leave the server and not lose all thier stuff. What is wrong with that? -
I found a can of mountain dew ...
rudeboy (DayZ) replied to _Anubis_ (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I have found 2 Dew's in this game. First one I carried for about half an hour and then the whole server is insta killed by a hacker. Second one I found in a truck. We found a 4x4 hilux crashed. We quickly added a wheel and engine parts and booked. Pulled off in the trees and checked the gear. There was a dew and soldier clothing. I drank the dew and we dumped the soldier gear in the forest. Within 5 minutes of finding the truck I had to log for dinner. My brother was going to take the truck to go loot. Before I could hang up the phone my brother says "Player just spawned. Shit, he's shooting at me." Turns out the guy is teleporting back and forth around my brother. He dumps a good 30 rounds into him as the guy was a horrible shot(hence the hacking I guess). The guy starts flashing lightning or something like he's Thor and blows up the truck. Killed my brother who couldn't log as the battle timer wouldn't let him. I will never touch another MD in this game. I will tuck tale and run. It's toxic piss anyway. -
an ever expanding list
rudeboy (DayZ) replied to barronvonmarlon's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
that is one of the things I noticed about your servers. Love that idea. I hope to join soon. I have taken it a step further. I add the names to my friends list in dayz commander so I can see when they are on until they change their name. I will go out of my way to join the server they are on and announce that they like to hack, kill unarmed survivors or whatever. -
NVG glasses in 1.7.5.1 [warning: spoiler]
rudeboy (DayZ) replied to _Anubis_ (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I see it like this. We all spawn on equal footing. It is then up to us to find items to gear up. Just because some are too lazy or choose not to run the map looking for gear doesn't mean we should all be restricted. My partner and I have found at least 5 pairs of NVG in the past 2 weeks. We just found some yesterday in a chopper sitting by the Polana factory. As most seem to like sitting in Elektro or Cherno, sure your not going to find them. We will spend nights just moving around looking for chopper crashes or sneaking into the barracks to find cool loot. Sometimes we find good stuff, sometimes we don't. That is the game. If I find something I don't need, I will give it away. I may put it in a broken down vehicle for someone to find easier. It all depends. I have also never been killed at a chopper crash. I have found them already looted and I have found them full of loot. I have found them with players there but I am not interested in killing folks to take what they got so I observe from afar, see which way they move and move another direction. I may wait for them to leave and pick up scraps. It all depends. I actually found NVGs at a crash site that was being looted. I noticed I had seen nobody looking under the heli so I waited until they were gone and took a look. Oh wow. NVG's. What happened to getting rewarded for hard work. I don't want the easy way out. This world is full of people who have advantages over others. When I see a guy in a Ferrari pull up next to me, I don't say "It's not fair that he gets that and I don't. He can get chicks easier because of his car and that's not fair." I just need to work harder I guess. My brother in law has an 08 STi with better mods that is faster than my 05. At the track he woops me up. I don't cry about him having better parts. I just need to put in the work to get better parts if I want to keep up. Such is life. If you are getting killed by NVG wearing snipers, be more careful. Regardless of the tools, someone will kill you. Why not just remove all loot but food, drink and vehicle parts. Remove all guns and have everyone spawn with a pistol. Would that be equal enough? I guess there would still be people with vehicles and some without. That would be an advantage. Remove those also I suppose. Better yet. Just spawn everyone fully geared in Elektro and remove all loot so there is no need to leave. We can all kill each other. Oh wait, we already have that in COD. I guess we could just sit around singing Kumbaya then. Now that would be a game worth playing. -
are hackers still rampant?
rudeboy (DayZ) replied to goodoleboy78@hotmail.com's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yes, still rampant on public hive. What really sucks is that with the new update, you can't abort if they engage you so you will die. My brother had one teleport to his location last night. My brother shot him about 10 times and the guy disappeared and reappeared behind him. Brother shot him another 10 times and the guy flew like superman over his head and came down behind him and killed him. My brother was trying to abort but it wouldn't let him. -
I am a hero(not that it means a whole lot) and have had 3 players not shoot me on site. I am kos every time I see another player. It is my fault as I am always too hesitant to shoot someone. We do try to interact but it always ends with us being killed because we suck. Usually goes something like this... Me: Hey, there's a player. Brother: Let's talk to them. Me: Cool, we will probably die. Brother: Yeah probably. Hey you ... We are friendly. Pop. Pop. Pop. Me: Well that sucked. We have played COD plenty and that is not why we are here. Hell, my brother has a 4.2 K/D ratio on MW3. If we wanted to run around killing people, we would and do go play COD. We also understand that there will be PvP on DayZ and we believe that it makes the game better. So we die, go loot up again and and die. We have told ourselves that we are going to say screw it and kos but we are pansies and always revert to friendly tactics that get us killed. If I had a nickel for every time we were moving through some trees and got dropped out of nowhere I would have enough cash to buy a computer capable of playing this damn game. I do prefer a sniper as my brother and I like to loot. Just what we do. He goes in to loot and I cover him from a hide. I have killed one person and that was a bandit who spotted him and was moving for position. I have sniped more zombies than people though. I find it enjoyable clearing a path for my brother to move across a town or pick off his stragglers as he is retreating back towards me. I love hearing him yell at me because I shot just next to his head taking out a zombie behind him. Hilarious. "You better not kill me you bastard"! Edit: Forgot about the bus with the baiters who were killing friendlies that would respond to their cries for help. Unfortunately, the baiters battle logged and I ended up killing 2 guys caught in the middle. If I was to meet those two again, I would probably give them my gear. So I have killed 3 people.

Teleporting when Shiftclick on Map
rudeboy (DayZ) replied to Dagyr's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
This happened to me last night. My brother and I were in a server that got hacked. There were helicopters everywhere and We were standing on our heads. We were then transported to a row of helicopters. We logged out and came back in and everything had calmed. We didn't know where we were so I tried to set a waypoint back to Stary and as I did my brother asks where I went. I come out of the map to find I was suddenly back to Stary where the waypoint was supposed to be. I really don't want to get banned so we logged out again and went to another server. This server had battleships everywhere and the teleporting waypoint was still happening. We just logged out and called it a night. I have never used a hack and we even found a box that looked like a medical box but it was full of 20 of everything but backpacks. And I mean everything. My brother took out a satchel from the box and tried to blow it up but it didn't work. Now we are afraid of getting banned for even getting in the box. These hackers really get on my last nerve. They are always kitting us up or causing us to do crap and we are constantly worried about getting banned as my brother already got banned from a server because he was the only one to survive a mass teleport into the sky where he logged before dying. When he came back the admin banned him. If they were to look at the logs they would know he was not hacking but they just said he was and that that was the end of the conversation. It's their server so I guess what are you going to do. Bummer because we liked that server. I just worry about a global ban as that would really p**s me off if I haven't done anything. If that were to happen, I would hunt that hacker and feed him his PC through his anus. -
What's your best moment in DayZ?
rudeboy (DayZ) replied to Torrefy's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I always play with my brother. We are friendly and it has bitten us pretty bad. We had a guy playing as if he was new and asking for help. We offered to help and were even going to give him a car. We loaded up the car with good weapons and gear that we thought would get him off to a good start. Long story short, this is dayz and it was a setup. My brother was killed. OK, done being nice. So on the server we play, we hear someone playing the same game of help me, I'm new. We knew it was a setup. They ended up killing some newb. We then made it our mission to take this guy out. It took about a week and we almost got him. We heard him and some other guys talking on side chat about finding and fixing some buses. They are all excited about their convoy and chatting up about going to elektro. Well my brother and I are close so we head over to set up an ambush. We get in place on a hill and watch them rolling in. My brother has the M4 with grenade launcher. I have an M4 SD and a DMR. So we plan to blow the first bus and then kill everybody. They had some guys with them that seemed new but hey, choose your friends wisely. So my brother let's loose with the high explosives. I then snipe the 2 guys in the other bus. Unfortunately, the 2 Bambi killers battle log when my brother blows the bus. The 2 I sniped were not who we were looking for and had no idea what happened. I felt bad but it was fun. If I run across the newbs again, I will help them but the other 2 still have their just rewards coming to them. Tonight, they will die.
