Beta and latest version is the way to go. Otherwise, you're sort of strangling yourself with your foot. Besides, if you don't have a mic you're going to be relegated to typing. And we all know - typing SUCKS. Direct Communication all the way. Set a key to transmit on it, if you're smart. And if you're trying to communicate with some twat over 20m away, move closer or light a fire and invite him to it! Worked for the Indians ;)
