I've watched all of frankie's dayz videos, and they all have flies around his bodies. Also all his 26 episodes are older than the latest patch.

This an alpha. Basically anything they add is testing, and probably isn't going to be the same in the standalone due to all the testing they did, they can tweak it just right. Plus another fact is harder zombies = more teamwork.

lol I like the idea though. It makes everything geared towars the long term. Maybe a feature added in later when people are surviving for longer periods of time. The eating food thing I mean. lol

I think the best thing you can do is go to youtube, and watch videos. I don't have either games, and that's what I've been doing. I only watch warz videos to laugh at how terrible that game is. I love Dayz. I need it damnit all.

Maybe they're going to scrap it with standalone, and/or a new update just to go with customizable?

I like the idea of tire spikes. A great ambush situation.

The main thing I see here is it doesn't add anything to the game for me, except kids. That doesn't make the game better really in any way...

Cool didn't know that. Yea when you're working at a job, and you smoke some weed it's like you just came to work. You can work at full potential again, or even better then full potential. I use to work for a catering company, and after working for a good 5 hours when you'd be pretty tired we'd smoke then we could work at full potential again. It really does make you work better. Sometimes it can you make you work crappier being to high, overthinking things.

I like the idea of keys too. I thought about it before I saw this thread. I love the idea of being in the trunk. When I get the game I really want to wait around in a trunk at someones base, and wait for them and ambush them. For hotwiring I think there should be something you should have to find to do it rather then simply doing it. Maybe a screwdriver, or wirecutters, or both. I would also like the idea of putting bomb traps on your car incase someone starts it when you're not there it will blow up. That might be a bit much though.

How about some weed. You can't run as far. You don't want to search for items just drive around in a car. You instantly go hungry, and need to eat 3 times the food to fill your hunger. You have constant cotton mouth the entire few hours you're high. You instantly have to go poop if it's good weed. What else am I missing here. When you sleep (do you have to sleep in this game?) you don't have to sleep for as long the next time due to being well rested. Everything looks slightly different turn the contrast up a little bit, make the colors a bit more vivid. Oh another thing friendly fire turns off when you're high as you don't want to shoot each other any more you just all want to chill out, and work together, or at least sit around and talk about stuff. Lol :P

I only know of bear traps. I watch dayz videos on youtube all the time, don't have the game, or a decent computer. Maybe pungee pits with ground construction? How about grenades with a tripwire on two trees? I always liked the big log, or spike logs. That would be a bit much though. That would be awesome, yet become annoying from dying from random traps.

I don't think most people got what he was talking about. He's talking about the engine modifications for the standalone. http://dayzdev.tumblr.com/ The newest pictures that are at that link is what he's talking about. See how the enviorment uses a darker color pallete for the sky, and lighting. I've never played this game before, so I can't really say anything on it. But I do see what he's saying it looks more overcast, the lighting is just in general darker. The best example is picture 5 in the standalone pictures. It's not overcast, or rainy, and it really looks darker than it should be. It looks like it should be brighter. I kind of agree with him it does look almot too dark in way. I don't know if that has to do with how they were optimizing the engine, but I do know in the first pic on that page it makes the game look more realistic. Still it looks just a bit too dark.

I haven't got the game, but yea I agree you have to have some computer technicallity to even play PC games, and install this mod. However that doesn't mean a person couldn't do it that's less then technical with computers using a guide with pictures. Also as for the ping thing that's really based on experience I wouldn't know any of what I had described in my post unless I had to go through it, or read it from some forum. However I do agree people should stop being lazy, and learn something on their own, because asking other people you definitely don't learn as much if you were to do it own your own. However I don't agree with people posting useless stuff in a topic where there's no reason to post only to flame someone, or get their post count up.

Yea check your internet speed on a speed test website. Choose a server close to you, but not in the same state as game servers are usually in a different state. Example I live in northwest florida, and I choose an atlanta georgia server to test. My download speed is 22 download, and like 5 upload. Also it helps to know what you should be getting, so if there's a problem with your connection you can know if you're not getting the speeds promised, or you're paying for. An example of problems you might have if you're not getting the required speeds can be from various things. Some troubles I've had in the past were they didn't have enough nodes to support the high traffic volume the neighborhood had, so at times I would get the speeds I was suppose too, but when everyone was on I was getting HORRIBLE speeds getting kicked from games all the time. Another problem could be water in your connection box outside, or something wrong with the lines inside your house could be old, and corroded, etc. It's probably something you might have to call your company about, or just choose a server closer to you. It could also be your firewall, or your router. Some people do what's called port forwarding to make their speeds faster. If you have a router they usually have firewalls as well. I use http://www.speedtest.net/ to check my speeds.

As soon as I get a job I'm saving up for a new computer just for this game. I intend to build my own even though I've never done that before, but I'm pretty computer literate, and have messed with a few internals just like ram, and HDD. I know it's pretty simple though. Especially when you have the help of the internet. First question. Any suggestions as what parts to buy to be able to run this game beautifully? Probably by the time I get a job, and save up the money the parts you suggest will be cheaper as well. I don't really know that much about this game as I've only really started getting interested in it. Over the past few days I've been watching Frankies video's. I'm almost done with his videos. I have been reading a lot of stuff about the game as well. I'm assuming combat logging, and hackers are still a big deal? I know this has probaly been suggested before, but in World of Warcraft when you log out I think you had like a 30 second timer you sat down for before you could log out. Are hackers really that bad that a server admin just cant ban them, or are there so many hacking people on this game that there's new daily? I think they should do like planetside 2, and just outright ban the hackers from the game. If they want to play it again that bad they can buy a new copy, or go play the BoreZ. Anyways I'm not going to ask, or suggest any more stupid stuff when I can just go search for it. Just wanted to establish myself in this awesomeness.

Yea I know. My computer couldn't even run Battlefield free only on the lowest settings and that still was pretty horrible. The only reason I would buy the game before I got a pc would be to support the awesomeness. That would be the standalone, because that will be out by the time I get a pc. Anyways this I'm sure is many months away, so thanks for your replys.

I suppose 800 dollars is a pretty good price for a computer. However does that say 16 gigs of ddr3 ram? Damn. Who would ever need that much ram? Also I heard Nvidia was better for this game than AMD. I suppose thats the comp you're running? You run this game on full settings? What's your frames per second? I was looking for something a bit cheaper. Well at least looking for it to be cheaper if I built a rig like that. I mean If im looking to spend 600 dollars on a computer what's an extra 200 when you would already have 600 saved up. lol edit: Right now my computer has AMD Athlon 64 x2 daul core processor 3800+ 2.00 ghz. Ram is 1471 mb I think the video card is a Nvidia Geforce 6600. Don't know if that's integrated. This computer sucks though. I don't know anything about videocards, or processors really. I just know I can run Counterstrike source that will never get above 20fps. If I'm lucky I'd get 20fps lol.
