    Crossbow being effective

Hi. Wow, a 1.25 inch hole 14 inches deep in ballistic gel AFTER going through a bullet proof body armor panel? Guns are superior for obvious reasons, but people who think crossbows are useless are delusional. Regards.

    Crosshair/Dot gone soon.

Hi. Great news. It's one of the first things I always disabled in the arma series. Hip shooting is still easy enough to do within realistic ranges anyhow. Regards. Edit: I should add I never really wanted it forced on everyone, but if it was an option I would have turned mine off.
  3. Hi. While breaking your leg in a game can be a pain in the ass I actually like the mechanic. But I do understand why the typical gamer doesn't want it in game. Still, saying you can't break a bone from falling off a ladder is funny. People break bones or die from ladder falls a lot irl. Hell, people break bones falling while walking or running at ground level. Regards.
  4. LoL! Says the guy that wants the game changed to suit his own little play style. Do you not see the irony in the things you post, or do you really think everyone who plays differently than you are weird and silly? Regards. p.s. If you make a good suggestion you will probably get a lot more positive feedback. This idea of shutting out the majority of servers can only lead to bohemia hosting the servers, which would in turn bring subscription fees.
  5. Hi. While I like this mod, I haven't played on any 3pp servers since they made the hardcore hive. Therefor I wouldn't want to force it on the periscope crowd. I do find it amusing how some players have said they don't abuse the periscope, yet they still don't like this near-perfect solution of bringing the community together. Regards.
  6. Hi. I almost always play on one of the same 4 servers, regardless of population, because they are the ones I don't get serious lag and desync on. Why do I need a system forcing me into some random lagfest just to please a handful of people that feel the need to dictate how others play... You say solo players/lonewolfs don't need to use the public hive, I think your the one that would be better off on a private server(not really, just trying to show you how ignorant that is). Besides, who is going to pay for all these servers that they can't actually use? Not me, that is for sure. Regards.
  7. Hi. I understand how the zeds can ruin clanfights/team death match playstyle, but complaining about it is pointless. That isn't what DayZ was designed for. Please stop trying to convince devs to change the game to cater to things it wasn't meant to be. You can easily make much better team dm scenarios in arma 2 or 3, that will serve the purpose much better than dayz ever will. Or of course you could wait until DayZ becomes moddable and make your own private clan fight server with no zeds at all. But please stop telling people not to dictate how YOU play the game, when really YOUR the person that wants/needs the game changed to suit your playstyle. Regards.
  8. Hi. I guess it depends on your preferences. If all the player cares about is pvp-death match style play then they will probably want the highest fov possible(for obvious reasons). If you want the game world to look realistic, with proper undistorted shapes, and accurate distance gauging, you will need a lower fov(even lower than default on small monitors). Picture your monitor being a picture frame in front of you. The imaginary triangle from between your eyes to the edges of that frame represents the FOV needed to portray the world with the same shapes, sizes and distances(i.e. zoom levels) that you would see it in real life. Of course most people wouldn't want to play that way, but it IS how they set up simulations like driving simulators and such. Regards.

    helo's still endgame!

Hi. So there has been official confirmation on helo's? I sure hope they put satchel bombs in, so I can blow them up when the opportunity arises. Regards.

    Proper Forest!

Hi. Celle is full of forests that you can't see anymore than a meter or two around yourself. There were others as well, going back to OpF. For extremely limited visibility forests you need to use a lot of pine trees I guess. Heres a link to the Celle release page with some pics. http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?132368-Celle-2 Regards.
  11. Hi. Sorry but tents will never follow you, there's just too many players, eventually your tent will spawn on another. Your idea would be great if the servers were all owned and paid for by bohemia. Of course then we would probably have to head down the crappy subscription road. Why would people pay for servers that they can't use. Who gets to boot the script kids if the server owner isn't allowed to access his own server. Regards.

I can't believe I just now realized this

Hi. Its the same with rifles, compasses, etc. I was always a little curious reading posts in here where people were complaining about stopping to switch weapons. Regards.
  13. Hi. Don't play on those Server types your complaining about and you won't have any problems. Like I said earlier, if anything it shall filter some of the riff-raff out of the public hive. If you really think that BIS(a company that has made it's money from heavily moddable games) is going to change their stance on modding because of a handful of peoples biching, your in for a surprise. There really isn't anything you can do about it other than forking out the $$ for your own server. Bitching about mods is about as useful as me bitching about them allowing 24/7 daylight on the public hive. Regards.
  14. Hi. While I wouldn't play on easy mode servers either, I personally can't wait for private hives. The puplic hive has already been more or less ruined by allowing the mass influx of 24/7 daylight servers. I feel that private hive death match servers spawning with gear will improve the remaining puplic hive servers. Also, a properly run private hive server is better than the puplic hive, hands down. How else can you have a proper comunity? Regards.
  15. Hi. I'm a bit confused by the OP. When you say DayZ has a puplisher are you referring to Steam/Valve or? Bohemia Interactive Studios is a small game development studio, not a publisher. Companies like Codemasters and Electronic Arts are puplishers. Regards.

    Casuals and DayZ

Hi. If anything I would say it's the casuals that want helos in the game. The casuals seem to want everything to be easier, and having a helo definitely doesn't make the game harder LoL. Regards.
  17. Hi. Aspects that wear on my patience in DayZ? Hmm, since a lot of the things mentioned have already been said to be being worked on or simply player error( i.e. raging after pressing wrong button lol), I guess I would say the things that wear on my patience the most are some peoples kids. Regards.

    Experimental Zombie AI 35.115791

Hi. I'm away from my PC for a few weeks so I unfortunatly can't test this, but it sounds great. Hopefully the DM noobs won't cry too much and stop the zeds from being the threat that they need to be. Don't forget the AI doesn't suffer from the artificially zoomed-out view us players have.Regards.

So how does the timer trump server hopping?

Hi. Of course it doesn't stop Server hopping for loot, it merely slows them down. I guess the only thing it does is help with ghosters. Regards.
  20. Hi. I bought 0pF the day after it hit the shelves in my country(in a way I curse it since it made just about every other FPS utter crap for me). Followed by the Resistance expansion. Then ArmA 1,2,3, including expansions, and wayyy too many mods to list(or even remember lol). Oh and yes spent many hours playing the DayZ mod and some of the modded versions. Regards.
  21. Hi. l'm confused, are you saying people who rent servers should only be able to use them if they are full? How are servers suppose to get populated enough to meet your personal standards, if they aren't allowed in the browser... l think it's funny how people want to dictate how others play. Regards.

Cannot enter medical building with broken legs

Hi. Yep, crawling over, or up objects is one of the anims worst shortcomings. The situation you describe is the reason why l get the morphine before breaking the leg. Regards.

How do I turn off sunbeams?

Hi. l think the sun is fine. Maybe try not walking towards it. Learn how to use it to your advantage and you will win. Regards.

    Hardcore: Shouldnt Zoom Not Exist?

Hello again. Alpha has nothing to do with it. The only way to get a true real world representation on a monitor would be to measure your monitor, then the distance from the monitor to your eyes. Then you make a triangle from center of your eyes to the edges of screen. That triangle would give you the proper fov measurement for your monitor. The bigger the monitor the higher fov you would need. If you set the game up this way the world would look true to life, but many players would bitch, cry, and moan about having no peripheral vision. It's like in a NFS-style arcade racing game on a regular sized single monitor, if your sitting in the driver seat you will see your entire dash, instrument cluster, both side mirrors, and small inclines in the road would actually look flat. When in a race sim with proper fov on that same monitor, you most likely will not see your instument cluster or side view mirrors, and now you will see that small incline in the road. Really the problem comes from games trying to simulate peripheral vision on a small flat screen. It make everything appear much smaller than it should. I've seen it stated in these forums that the U.S. marines do their shooting qualification on man sized targets, 500 meters away with iron sights, now do you really think you shouldn't be able to see a person 300 meters away. Regards.

    Hardcore: Shouldnt Zoom Not Exist?

Hi. OP, you should try doing a little research about fov in simulators. You need to think of your monitor as a rectangular box held in front of your face, however many inches away as it is while playing. With a proper sim fov set, objects on screen will appear the exact size and shape as they would irl. But of course you would have no peripheral vision at all. This is why you would never see your feet(as you suggest), without actually panning the camera down. This is also why, the default fov in game is unrealistically 'zoomed out', making everything in the virtual world much smaller than it would be irl, to allow for some peripheral vision. When using the focus('zoomed in') view it's closer to a proper sim fov, making objects in the virtual world closer to the size and shape they would be irl. I know this has been explained repeatedly(in different ways) in the thread already, yet you still maintain this silly magic binocular argument, so I'm guessing your just trolling? Regards.
