Logging Out - Expermimental Branch 114782
fitzee replied to apollovulcan's topic in General Discussion
HaHa. Yea I get it. Somebody doesn't like the way its implemented means he must be a logger. Are you really that brain numb? I've been playing this game engine since 2001, trust me, there is nothing hard about killing people. Especially the typical DayZ crowd 3PP players who can't figure out why they shoot the ground when prone :D I just don't understand why they can't come up with a system that flags people that are actually in combat, instead of just assuming everybody is. It will truely suck losing a 6 month old character because you didn't have time to go deep enough into the woods or some shit, before logging out. If your goal in DayZ was to survive a long time, rather than death match in elektro you might actually understand my point of view. Regards. -
Logging Out - Expermimental Branch 114782

Hi. Wow, this log out system blows. As a player that cares more about surviving than death matching, I'm gonna have some interesting words from the wife/daughter while trying to find the perfect place to log out lol. That said, I am not a combat logger, never have, never will, I just don't understand why we all need to be treated like one. I guess Rockets vision for this game really is a giant death match, oh well. Regards. -
Hi. Go back to stable build maybe? Just an offhand guess. Regards.

Hi. Thanks a lot. All your crying/bitching/moaning about not being able to get into the daytime servers during the night seems to have paid off for you. Now at 11 PM, I can't seem to find a single local server without daylight  Guess it's my turn to cry, bitch, and moan :( :D Regards. -
Hi. Removing mouse acceleration will most definitely help with the strange feeling, but it will do nothing for getting stuck in doorways. I'm not sure, but I think the doorway issues are caused by the animations. I know this issue seems to be more or less gone with ArmA 3's new animation system. In DayZ I find it's much more reliable if you go through doorway straight on square, any angle and you will probably get stuck lol. Regards.

The Zombie Ai Is Actually Really Good So Far. But No One Seems To Notice.
fitzee replied to alleycat's topic in General Discussion
Hi. I also would like to see lots of tough zeds in game, preferably being only killed with head shots. But sadly, as V3C1C already pointed out the DayZ community's tears will flow till it drowns any hopes of tough zeds. Seems the majority just want an oversized unbalanced death match game. Regards. -
What Alpha Is Supposed To Be (A Discussion On Dev Direction And If The Game Will Ever Be Completed)
fitzee replied to jovlon's topic in General Discussion
Hi. Maybe you don't know how Bohemia operates? They aren't like the big publishing companys that make dev studios follow deadlines, then drop all development to work on a new version of said game each year. They are a small dev studio who support their games for years, with frequent patches and some new content. It has earned them a good loyal fanbase. Abandoning DayZ obviously isn't out of the realm of possibility, but given their track record its highly unlikely. Regards. -

Hi. Am I reading this right? Some people think the zeds see you too easily? We must be playing different games, they never see me without L.O.S., and in the dark I usually need to be within about 20 meters to agro them. At least until I make too much noise, then they start coming out of the woodwork. Maybe you guys need to learn how to be more stealthy, you do know how to use the crouch and walk buttons right? Of course they're going to detect you if your just running around full speed without a care in the world. Or maybe its a bug/glitch, as I've seen people claim that the zeds will never go up staircases, yet clearly they do sometimes. Regards. -
The Beginning Of A Short Story (Long Post Warning)

Hi. That was a good read, thanks for sharing. :) Regards. -
Hello again. I didn't see the video, and have only made the 12 slot version. There weren't any problems with that one at all. I've been meaning to make the big version on the hardcore character, but for some reason been having a helluva time finding the burlap sack. I used to find them EVERYWHERE lol. Regards.

Hi. It blends a lot better than the mountain pack :D Best thing about it is that it doesn't interfere with 1PP at all. Regards.

Hi. lol that one made me smile :D . But in all honesty I prefer playing night servers, because it keeps me more on the edge of my seat. Always feel too safe during daytime. Regards. -

LoL. What a silly young boy you are. Or maybe I just wasn't clear with the meaning of my post. I'm north american as well, so I guess I was calling myself out too  Maybe you haven't noticed, but there aren't any more night servers, at least not in the east, during the night. BTW my post was meant to be tongue in cheek but judging by your butthurt response you should send that pic to yourself :P Regards. -
If I Spawn In Solnichniy One More Time I'll Puke.
fitzee replied to [email protected]'s topic in General Discussion
Hi. While I understand and respect you p.o.v. surviving and taking time to get geared is a big part of what DayZ is about. It really isn't meant as an instant action death match game. Best way to avoid spawning in the east is to avoid dieing in the first place. Not trying to sound like a douche, but maybe DayZ really isn't the best game for you. At least not in its current form. It definitely isn't for everyone, it can be very time consuming and tedious, then with a snap of the fingers it's all gone lol. I know if I didn't like it, I would be playing something else for sure. Regards. -

fitzee replied to jovlon's topic in General Discussion
OP your right I'm no game developer, but I have no doubt that you aren't either. If you were why would you be wasting your time trying to derail this game. You say your trying to have a valid discussion, sigh, read your opening post, there isn't really anything valid about it. Looks like you just want to complain that there isn't vehicles yet. I tried to explain a little of what I know about Bohemia to you, because you obviously don't know anything about them, and you dismissed me with the fanboys and trolls. The way I see it, there isn't anything valid about you. Flash based mario game  funny stuff, as I said your right I'm no game developer. I have been making addons/mods for games since 1998, but being just a hobbyist 3d modeller, I definitely wouldn't call my self a dev. Since you are so butthurt about the direction DayZ SA is taking why not just cut your losses and bugger off, instead of trying to convince the people that like it that they shouldn't. Regards. -
What Alpha Is Supposed To Be (A Discussion On Dev Direction And If The Game Will Ever Be Completed)
fitzee replied to jovlon's topic in General Discussion
Funny. A guy who claims to be a game developer is going to call gamers fanboys. C'mon, be honest, I'm guessing that "Part of the reason that I feel like there is cause of concern is because" your an adolescent who feels all butthurt because you don't have vehicles in the game yet. Regards. -
What Alpha Is Supposed To Be (A Discussion On Dev Direction And If The Game Will Ever Be Completed)

Hi. You know, if bohemia was just after a fast buck with no intention of finishing the game, they probably would have done something much easier, like simply repacking ArmA 2 without all the assets the Dayz mod didn't use and relabeling it DayZ Standalone. Why bother making engine changes? Why bother reworking the map? Why bother remaking anything? You mention vehicles, guess what, just like my last sentences, they could have used the old ones with the exact same older system. Do you(OP) even know anything about Bohemia? They are a relatively small indy company. They don't release a lot of games, but when they do, they support them and add content for years, unlike the AAA companys that release a new version of their titles yearly. It was clearly stated the game probably wouldn't even reach beta stage for over a year. Not sure where the confusion comes from. PS Anybody can come in here and state they are a 'fellow developer' and use that as a way to disprove others opinion. I'm not sure why you would think anybody would be obligated to believe you. Especially since you don't even seem to know there's a new trend of early access alphas. Regards. -
Hi. I just went in for a quick test. Unfortunately I'm a good 15-20 minute run from any citys, and that would be if I just ran straight there disregarding my characters safety lol. Moving around through forest, field and a small town it's varying between 39-79, and going up to mid-80's inside structures. That said, it was still perfectly smooth when I have visited citys. I know in most game engines you tend to need 60 or sometimes even 100+ fps to have smooth gameplay, but in my personal experience with the RV engine(since 2001) it just isn't the case. I haven't tweaked the ini. The in-game settings are mostly default, except sun occlusion off, atoc on trees and grass, shadows high(because it works better than lower settings), objects high(because I like it that way). I could easily tweak for more fps but I like the way it looks, it runs very smooth, and I don't suffer from the dreaded RV engine LOD pop-ups(though that may be cause I have the game installed on SSD). Regards.
-
Hi. Don't forget about shadows. I'm assuming it works the same as ArmA 2. High and above ran on gpu, medium and below ran on cpu. So anyone with a decent video card got better performance on high/max than on the lower settings. Well, except for disabled shadows anyways. Regards.
-
Hi. My performance in SA is much lower than it was in the mod. Not because of the new eyecandy, but because the mod forced a shorter viewdistance. That said it runs butter smooth, not sure why people complain so much lol. I have fairly dated equipment, i5 3570k, GTX560Ti 2GB, 16GB ram, OS and game on SSD drive, and I haven't had any stuttering. Regardless of our personal opinions on what good graphics are and the engine, the truth of the matter is this engine requires your cpu to be over 4 GHZ to shine. Like it or lump it. PS - good graphics is very subjective. A lot of games that people say have amazing graphics, look very cartoony to me, shinier doesn't always mean better. Regards.

Hi. I'd like an old fashioned hockey goalie mask like Jason wears in friday the 13th. Would be funny for axe murders. I'd like some hockey helmets like in my profile picture as well, with and without facemasks, would help break the monotony of motorcycle/military helmets a bit. I know there are other hats but they don't do shit for protection from melee/zeds. Regards.
-
Hi. I would assume the elements are going to play a pretty big role at some point. Clothing getting damp is already in, even if it doesn't affect your health/stamina yet. Looking forward to having a reason to carry a raincoat in the future. Regards.
-
Hi. I haven't died on a ladder in SA yet, though I never climb them with anything in my hands. On an extremely dark night, I did manage to fall off the loft in the barn FishGuts4Lunch mentioned though lol. Has anyone noticed if you can still break a leg while crawling under a pine tree like in the mod? I found that one super annoying. Regards.

Warning on creating improvised backpack from courier bag

Hi. Does anyone have a screen of the 20 slot one, or at least can tell me if it interferes with 1PP. I know the 12 slot doesn't interfere at all. Regards.
