  1. Hi. I feel your pain OP. I haven't been able to find a LRS(regardless of condition) since the hardcore servers came online lol. Hell, I haven't even found any M4 scopes that weren't damaged. Oddly enough, I have no troubles finding pristine PU scopes, bipods and mosin compensators though, maybe because they spawn in places that the retards err server hoppers don't frequent. Regards.

    So I tried Hardcore..

Hi. I only play on hardcore servers. The whole 3PP-1PP thing has been beaten to death so I won't try explaining why I prefer 1PP lol. I'm not sure what's difficult about looting in 1PP besides not being able to see on top of certain objects? Everything else on floors or shelves is easy, just get close and hit tab, no need to go through convulsions trying to line things up :D Also if your having a hard time looking around, remember the 'Alt' key is your friend. Regards.
  3. Hi. I joined 1 server this morning, played for about 45 minutes to an hour without any issues. When I logged out I noticed about a third of the servers in my history list had been recently reset though. I only play on hardcore mode, in MPGS servers(they seem to be the ones close to me and generally reliable), if that helps anybody. Regards.
  4. Hi. I hope that before they add vehicles, they add lots of debris and road blocks like in the mod. In the mod you couldn't just go full speed everywhere without hitting a trash pile or some other block and wreck your car. Those trashpiles and other stuff blocking the road also provide good spots for ambushes. Regards.

why do the forums keep going down?

Hi. I agree whole heartedly. I don't like twitter or reddit, so I just wait for the information to trickle down to the forum. However I doubt they would be willing to pay the amount needed to keep someone worthwhile, that's willing to deal with this community. Regards.
  6. Hi. I haven't read anything from the devs on this subject, but seeing as the mod never took advantage of ArmA 2's built in squad system I would guess the answer is no. I'd actually be a bit annoyed if they did, since I tend to play lone wolf and groups get more than enough advantages already. Regards.
  7. Haha. Not sure if trolling or just... Comparing a lack of jets to bug fixing in a game that gets 5 core updates per week including lots of config tweaks and bugfixes. Yeah...
  8. Hi. I've been lucky I guess. Never broken legs on stairs(though I tend to be in walking mode when using them, not running), and though I rarely use the ladders, I haven't fallen from one yet. Pretty sure there was something in the patch notes about, depending on equipped gear, falling up to 5 meters can break a leg, and anything higher can kill you(don't quote me on the numbers tho). Seems pretty legit to me. Regards.

What Is Your BIGGEST Pet Peeve In DayZ?

Hi. You can try keeping a can or two of paint in your inventory. Like people have pointed out in the relative threads, repainting them seems to fix the problem. This morning my MP handgrip started flickering again when I logged in, so I painted it for the 3rd time and all was good for the hour or so I played. Regards.
  10. Hi. The PP effects from taking damage should be separated from the rest. That way people who truly need the normal ones off for performance will be fine, it's an obvious fail on the dev's part to not have damage effect every player equally. Of course this topic isn't new, and there will be the obvious forum trolls. Regards.

    Regarding tents and player hostility

Hi. I know I'm pretty much alone on this, but I feel your tents should be deleted from server when you die. Regards.
  12. Or you could just, I dunno, stick to your favorite server. Though I could see it being a problem for people that only play on 24/7 daylight softcore servers since they tend to be full a lot. Still it would stop hopping for gear(unless someone thinks running all the way to the airbase from the coast repeatedly is a good idea) and totally eliminate the chance of ghosting. Regards.
  13. Hi. Can't say I agree about having to start over, that defeats the whole purpose of having the public hive. But what I think would work perfectly is, if switching to a different server you spawn on the coast like a new spawn but with your gear. It would completely negate server hopping for gear, and as a side bonus ghosting wouldn't exist anymore. Regards.

The new logout system is bad. Very, very bad.

Hi. Actually experimental is going live on stable today, as in now. Regards.
  15. Hi. While I obviously can not give the definitive answer, I have noticed once darkness sets in you need to be a lot closer for them to see you. They still react to sound of course. Regards.
  16. Hi. A bit off-topic but: Have you tried the latest AMD drivers. I don't use AMD cards, but I've heard they FINALLY added multi-threading support, bringing the performance more or less up to par with nVidia(who have been multi-threading for a long time) in some other games. Games that have been known to work much better with nVidia. Regards.
  17. Hi. While I have never missed my target with M4 in DayZ, Gews has posted a pretty in-depth and informative thread about the fake dispersion in the game. Other than that the majority of complaints I've heard tend to be coming from people who shoot in 3rd person and don't actually use the guns sights. IMO those people shouldn't be able to hit shit anyhow. Either way, Rockets development post yesterday said that they are making changes to make the guns more realistic. Hopefully they will tighten the dispersion some. Regards.

    The antihop/exiting timers..

Hi. While I don't particularly support the watching the countdown idea either, your argument isn't really valid. If you can't kill them before they get up tic toc tic toc then equip a weapon tic toc tic toc, then you really shouldn't be trying to follow anyone into that house in the first place. Of course my opinion is based on what I've read saying logging out makes your character sit down, If I'm wrong and you actually keep your gun shouldered then that a whole different ballgame. Regards.

    Rags can be ruined?

Hi OP. I find it strange that rags can be ruined as well, but on top of that, I'm not sure you can even make them in good condition. Today I made some out of a tactical shirt I found(because I was bleeding and my pocket full of rags were ruined upon log in), and on creation they were already badly damaged  Guess its time to start carrying a medkit full of bandages :) Regards.

To those who dislike the new combat logging timer

Hi. While I'm not in favor of the mentioned log out timer either, if while charging your way into the building like a rambo, you can't kill the logger before he cancels logging out, gets off his ass, and equips his weapon, then you really have no business trying to be a rambo in the first place lol. Regards.

Ever did something in dayZ you regret?

LoL. I've been lucky with ladders, I don't climb them often, but when I do I never fall off. Once some rookie player emptied his M4 clip at me from point blank range only managing to hit me with 1 round(damn 3PP noobs). I took 2 steps and buried my wood splitter in his face then high tailed it the hell out of baloota as he reloaded. So I guess my biggest regret was not taking the second swing to end him :D Regards.

To those who dislike the new combat logging timer

Hello orlok. I'm probably responsible for the "lazy" comments due to an earlier post calling the log out method "easy lazy" something or other. Don't misunderstand me, I have nothing but respect for the devs. I just call this approach easy and lazy because, well, it was. Easy because it's the easiest solution and lazy because coding something that would only effect people that are actually in combat would take more work. I already know the general response has been, and will be "O he doesn't like the system, must be a combat logger" but, lol I don't combat log, I've been playing the RV engine games for around 13 years and killing players is anything but difficult. Since you ask for ideas, I will repost the idea I've tossed out a few times already. If a player uses his weapon he and his target get a 15 minute combat/PVP flag. Said player and target can not log out while the timer is active. Also if they use their weapon or are attacked during the countdown, it resets back to the full 15 minutes. Last but certainly not least, if they close the game by say alt f4, task manager, game crashes for any reason, or lose internet connectivity, then their character is stuck defenseless in game for the remainder of the timer. I personally think such a system would punish combat loggers a lot more than this 30 seconds does, while not punishing players that aren't in combat at all. I don't even think 30 seconds will do anything, unless people are stupid enough to hit alt-F4 in the middle of the road. Like are people seriously going to rambo their way into a building chasing after someone that knows they're coming lol, any OpF or ArmA PVP vet would put a bullet in yer eye soon as you rounded the corner. Like some others, I feel there isn't really any truely safe places in DayZ and since my goal is to survive as long as I possibly can, getting killed while not actually playing would take a lot away from the game. IIRC Rocket has even said that some animals will have zed-like ai, making the deep woods much less safe than people seem to think. Now with that said, the current anti-combat log mechanism is obviously better than not having one, so h8rs may as well direct their nonsense at somebody else. Sorry for the long-assed post. Regards.
