How do you rent low population servers?

If a server is running less than 30 slots, Its most likely a pirate server and not official, Or simply breaking the rules. -

I agree with both splinter and skydive statements, because there would be a uproar if we were to close our public server, due to the lack of commitment from the staff here with the Mod version at this time. This is just another let down for all the work we have freely done while hosting the Mod server. :( Shame a few more Mod server admins are not supporting this little change. -

I find this funny for this simple reason. yes it is in Alpha. But the DayZ Mod Free version had stronger rules than the current rules, set out for the stand alone that Players Are paying for to play. Surely the paid version I.E. the standalone version should have stronger rules, set out in stone, Than the Free Mod version, and server owners should abide by these rules or lose there server period. It all comes down to the present rule set for the standalone and they go no where near as far as the Mod version rules did, Hence why players are complaining, They are paying for this game to be able to play, it not free like the mod was. :rolleyes: But I also have to stress one thing,, Rocket did say DON'T buy the game yet... because its all about bug reporting and testing at the moment. :) Edit. I also hope server admins have also noted the new server rule added to the standlone server rule list. http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/158966-dayz-standalone-server-hosting-rules-server-reporting/ You can NOT kick players on joining, to loot farm or to prevent other players joining You can kick if players are being verbally abusive or abusing ingame bugs to gain an ingame advantage. It would be a good idea, I'm only going off what gaming deluxe staff have told me, As I said to them I didn't need access to the SA files, like I do the Mod version on my box, and thay could lock the files for me. But they said it was not allowed and to contact Hicks. Which I sent Hicks a PM on here on 27th of December and yet no reply nor has he even read it. Edit The mod DayZ Public Version we signed up for whitelisting but they haven't currently done this for the SA DayZ Server. Maybe they will bring it in, or maybe they will not. We don't currently know.

I don't want to put you off or anything, But my understanding at the moment is dedicated box's are not currently allowed to host SA DayZ servers, on the public hive, As many of us who run the Public Mod version are also waiting to Host Public SA server on our Dedicated box's. We are still waiting conformation as to when we are allowed to do this. :)

I'm not a forum mod but there are many posts regarding kicking player and it is currently being looked into. This loophole as it is, is going to be looked into as the forum staff have said. There is really no need to get abusive regarding some of the posts, They will be sorted if they do what that have suggested. The rules are the same for everyone and no one is exempt from them. :) -
If you rent a server, You volunteer to provided a standalone server for the public, But you still need to follow the rules if you want to stay connected to the Public Hive. Without the public hive your server will not run. Private server will be available at a later date, maybe once it out of Alpha phase. Or before.

Server admins do not have access to the Public Hive and there for can't reset your char or gear. There for I conclude that this is most likely a bug in the game and nothing more. But, The server admin shouldn't of restarted the server just because he got killed, as this will save his gear as it normally takes 30 or so seconds to update the hive so he would of kept his gear. This sorry to say is a form of admin abuse, and happened during the DayZ Mod.

The problem is as the OP states, They are not locking the server they are instead kicking players to allow there clan mate to join, So as Dallas has said there is a loophole in the rules. http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/158966-dayz-standalone-server-hosting-rules-server-reporting/ As it states nothing about Kicking players on the SA Server Rules. Which was covered with the Mod version, that server owners where not allowed to kick for friends and clan mates. I think this is what the OP is trying to address. :) -

If my understanding of the rules are the same as the Mod servers. You are not allowed to kick players to allow friends or clan mates access over others. The servers are provided for the public, Any server doing this with evidence provided will be looked into, As many have been. Maybe a Dev or Forum Mod can confirm this. -

I have to agree with you. As it seems since SA came out the DayZ mod servers being a public or private server have been brushed under the carpet. Unless you can afford to rent a SA server there seems to be no help. Or they allow us DayZ Public dedicated server owners to run a Public SA server for them, At least they will not be admin abused. Like most of the current servers. I understand the reason for the clean up, But the server categories should of stayed the same. 1 for public mod and 1 for private mod and 1 for SA servers. Even the data center I use, don't even have a answer to the Battleye filter changes and there servers are also running on the old scripts that are currently useless. I'm hoping that someone that understands these filters will come out with a fix, for those that don't know how to modify them. As for the original post on the BE filters changes here are the links. The link to those filters are out of date. All filters are coming back incompatible with the new battleye Putting as it says "//new" at the start of the filters as Battleye suggests kicks all players out of the server. The filters need there for updating as all Public Mod servers are currently unprotected till they are updated. This message as quoted on the RCon is the question. I would say its a good idea to charge the prices that are currently on offer, to simply discourage people buying server to do what the hell they want to do. Look at all the admin abuse that's being posted in these forums at the moment. Rocket has already said. " Don't Buy the Game" simply because it is still in early stages. Those that do rent servers should understand this and do there best to bug report and so should the players instead of abusing the exploits, This to better help the game progress. Instead of helping them selves, help the game progress to be what it is designed to be. Bug report instead of using the bugs to your advantage to get one over on your follow players. Not being funny but the DayZ mod is still better than the standalone and if I have to go further a field. Rust which is also in alpha wipes the floor with the standalone. I feel at the moment the prices of servers are justified, untill the game progresses more.

All these posts on this thread regarding "I pay for the server, So I should be allowed to do what I want," makes me laugh. It don't quite work like that, So you rent a server for X amount of cash, so what. Those that have and still do run the Public DayZ mod servers for rocket and co, Some of us spent £1000 or more to buy dedicated box's to help run there mod, Yet we still had to follow the same server rules without question and some like myself continue to do so. Most of what is going on now with the admin abuse, Could of been avoided if those like myself were allowed to run public standalone servers for the community on our box's, Instead of being forced to not only pay for there dedicated box's but to also rent a server just to run the standalone. (Some of us are not made of money). The problem now is like it was back in June of 2012, Where the server owners think they have the right to do what they want. You are mistaken, If you don't follow the rules you WILL lose your server, If not by the provider, It will be disconnected from the public hive. You volunteer to provided a standalone server, But you still need to follow the rules if you want to stay connected to the Public Hive

I would say that i do not beleave thay should release the server files to allow the forming of private servers untill maybe beta or full release, to stop people changing the game and abusing before it is fully releast. We all have seen what happend to the mod version and how the private server ran.. Thats not saying they are all bad. ;) But as my question in a earlyer post says, Would be good if we the public server providers could get a clear answer as to why we have not been included in the alpha release regarding running a SA server for you like we have been doing with the DayZ Mod and continue to support Razor and all for all there work they continue to do on the mod. ?? us public server providers who would love to host public SA server as we have been doing, for me since june 2012, who do not admin abuse should of also been included to continue to help DayZ grow by providing a public server and helping as we have been doing. But i feel we have been let down and disappointed, even feel used after all the time and effort we have also put into DayZ and the community, to make DayZ what it is today. ^_^

Regarding the OP. I'm sorry i will not sign your petition, as I beleave if those that have supported Rocket and DayZ aren't allowed to run SA servers for them who some are trusted and don't admin abuse, They shouldn't allow it to anyone else for quite some time. We all know what happend to the original DayZ that rocket created it all got changed some for the better and some not, but it was not what rocket wanted IMO. -
