    Where are the animals?

This is BS! When is this game going to be playable?

DayZ REALLY needs to add basebuilding or barracading

I agree. Please note that I have given you my beans. This is not to be taken lightly. On a scale of 1 - 10, the excitement factor is somewhere around 2. The only think you are afraid of in this game is being killed by another player! This is unforgivable. BIS must provide other challenges for the player; zombie hordes, attacking animals (territorial crows, rattle snakes, bears, wild dogs, big cats) , side missions and Easter egg hunts, , man hunts, anomalies, radiation poisoning, freak weather, tornadoes, alpha zombie hunts and the option for AI bandit hunts. These could easily be implemented in the single player - which is probably where I will spend most of my time until KOS issues are adequately addressed, honestly.

    increase Map size

all these reasons are why i look forward to the single player option.

    whats the plan for optimization?

Very poor form. I made several exemplary suggestions on the direction that DayZ should go in in my day, and not once did Brian Hicks give me a personal response, thumbs up or even a thank you! >:( How come he gets one?? I am going to send Brian a stern letter letting him know that this is not good enough, and I expect a prompt reply with apology.

    Dirty building interiors

The inside of buildings should have scratches, graffiti, garbage, puddles from leaky faucets, old food, buzzing flies and other vermin, blood and poop stains for decor. There should also be random smoke and fires that start and stop at random times. In industrial sites, there should be be busted steam and gas pipes. Downed wires should surge with electrical sparks. Particles of dust should fill the air at different points. Grass and weed should be unkempt and growing out of control in the streets, on the sidewalks, inside and on top of some buildings. Trash should completely litter the streets. There should be moaning, growling and wailing from zombies. The sound effects they currently make is tiresome at best. A few cars should have car alarms that, if interfered with, activate bringing in a horde of deadly zombies. There should be angry packs of crows perched on the roofs, squawking and looking for weakened prey. Packs of wild dogs should roam some larger towns. As it stands the cities and towns simply look like unfinished and abandoned urban and industrial complexes, but do not reflect the ambiance of a zombie apocalypse. There should be lots of human blood and guts casually laying around. Furthermore, I am certain that if a zombie apocalypse were to happen right now, someone would have shit their pants in fright, leaving their business all over the floor and walls for other survivors to bear witness to. Why has absolutely none of this been accounted for in any way, shape of form?

Yes. Thee crows would perch at the tops of tall buildings, and at the edges of forests that face large open clearings. The danger sign would be that blood curdling squawking when lone travelers approach and are foolish enough to venture into a clearing patch without adequate protection (impenetrable clothes, head gear, etc.). The seasoned survivor would know that this is something one would simply not do! This could be one of the major threats in open clearings. Your only hope would be to make a dash for the tree line and take cover if you do not have adequate protection. Your most valuable weapon in this case might be a shotgun loaded with buckshot, as these can do spread damage taking out a few savage crows in one shot.

Dude... weeds can spring up in a matter of months of not being cut down, not years! Wind blows seeds and dirt which settle on the tops of buildings all the time. Weeds will quickly sprout over the next season if not kept in check. Sun, wind and rain will see to that. Some people even keep rooftop gardens that might quickly grow out of control if not taken care of. I am not talking about massively overgrown weed. I am talking about small but noticeable shrubbery. Enough to let you get the feeling that there is no one around to maintain the city's infrastructure. In a single season, a building can become quite unkempt if building managers do not see to its upkeep. Same thing with sidewalks. Cherneruse has a massive power station. Say someone managed to get the grid up and running temporarily. Sparks should fly in some areas. This could be a cool Easter egg thing for the single player... to get the power grid up and running so that you could access a secret underground tunnel via elevator with more secrets and horrors/mysteries waiting inside. Underground, you'd meet up with all sorts of hazards including electrocution by stray wires. Furthermore, if there are other areas on the map with small power grids, then this effect could be implemented as well. With no humans around, aggressive crows and wild dogs might take over, and become more desperate and brazen, challenging the weak and defenseless Some of those poor souls left behind before becoming dinner might end up schizophrenic.... smearing poop all over the walls. This is a must! It would be very unnerving to venture into an old abandoned warehouse and see poop stains smeared over the walls reading something like: "THIS IS THE END OF THE WORLD. GOD SAVE US ALL!!!". The guts and entrails of this poor victim might lay splayed out all over the floor attracting flies, the trash they accumulated in their short but tragic lives providing nourishment for rats, roaches and other vermin that scamper into nooks and crannies when you approach. All it takes is a little imagination... and an aggressive bowel movement.

What do you mean they don't make sense???! It s a zombie apocalypse. Society has collapsed. Things are all pear shaped... Could you explain? God. For the sake of the success of Dayz, I hope that the devs do not share your opinion.
  10. Persons who frequent this forum actually have an interest in the development of a first person shooter that sets itself apart from the other BS COD-type games out there. Persons who like 3rd person are usually from the COD genre, and do not have as much passion to even frequent this forum in large numbers to sway the poll results. Consequently, he polls will be heavily weighted in favor of those who actually think with more than their primitive, knuckle-dragging reptilian brain stem. BIS should outlaw 3rd person mode.. For statistical purposes, they should also take a note of the players who use 3rd person more than they do 1st person. Once this data has been compiled, they should destroy all these players, their families and friends. Erase any record of their existence as well. They should then donate their computers to all those players who use 1st person mode. This glorious purging would take care of the problem permanently, and with minor (if any at all) collateral damage. I am sure that BIS has more than sufficient resources to accomplish this, what with all the proceeds from the pre-alfer sale. I am sure that there are plenty places that they could dispose of their charred remains for very little cost.
  11. This would be a step in the right direction. If you want 3rd person, go play mass effect or stick to brain dead consoles. This is a first person shooter. Surely, you must've noticed this at some point prior to purchasing the game...

    Crows that attack players

I was hanging out at an undisclosed London tube station one quiet evening, while waiting for the piccadilly line. Out of the blue, two large jet black crows (apparently hungry and looking for food) landed a few feet in front of me. Now this was the first time I had actually ever had the chance to really examine these magnificent predators up close, so I made this experience count. Upon close up inspection of my Avian friends, a thought that popped into my mind was how terrifying these birds of prey might be if they hunted humans in large swarms. It didn't take me long to realize what a marvelous addition to DayZ these creatures could potentially be! Birds such as these could dwell on the edge of tree lines facing large patches of clearing. They would lay in wait for the unsuspecting traveler to break out of forest, upon which time they unleash their fury in massive numbers. They'd be the tiny velociraptors of the sky! The only recourse for the helpless traveler would be to run for cover, or, if they had a shotgun, to unleash some birdshot in their general direction. Comments? Beans?

sooo... I guess it's settled, then. This will be implemented in the post-alfer single player game, then?

    DayZ Standalone Singleplayer

I am one of those who agrees with you. What I find is that the KOS fanboys are the ones who just want to gear up, shoot, die, rinse and repeat. This kind should stick to COD.

    DayZ Standalone Singleplayer

I predicted long ago that this would eventually happen. It is good to see that BI has finally come to their senses, and realise that this game needs SP mode. My only question is, what will players do with no direction, but to find stuff, and walk around shooting zombies? This will very quickly get very boring unless real challenges are provided. I suggest a quest/mission based system restricted to single player mode, with the option to disable or simply ignore. Players would see leters, postcards, NPC's etc, that guide them on easter-egg hunts, etc deeper inside the hostile DayZ universe. We also need zombie hoardes and hostile animals such as aggressive Crow colonies, bears, dog packs, AI bandits, etc. Players could be sent on missions to rid certain areas of these aggresive beasts, etc. Others could be to search and recover lost heirlooms, or uncover secrets, etc.
  16. Yes. It is a good idea. One that should be seriously considered.

    Crows that attack players

Most certainly crows attack things. They are omnivorous by nature, and will eat both seed and flesh. They have also been known to attack smaller birds.

    Crows that attack players

Well, if this suggestion can make the game more interesting and more challenging, why don't you like it then? Do you not like when games are made more interesting and more challenging? Would you much prefer a game that is kept less interesting and less challenging? I command you to change your mind. Now.

    Crows that attack players

Is this because it will hamper you from camping out and killing new spawns?
  20. Here is an idea! In the outback environment, the ability for people to craft their own ammunition is a vital skill!. All the more so if you were unfortunate enough to be living through a zombie apocalypse. Players, if lucky enough to come across an outback gunsmithing depot, could acquire some casings, gun powder, bullets, primers and possibly a hand-loading kit similar to this one below and maybe a hand-loader manual. In this way, they could begin fashioning their own ammo in small quantities. Naturally, hand-loaded ammo might not be as accurate, and may be prone to jamming the weapon, not firing at all, or damaging the weapon, so it would take some skill to improve your success. You'd also need to mount the kit securely on a sturdy bench, so it would require that you succeeded in setting up a temporary base of operations. The hand loader would also need to find the right manual as well as equipment for the cartridge that he/she wishes to craft. As for shells, they could possibly reuse the spent casings that were undamaged after firing. Imagine coming across an old scribbled note about this hermit Old man Porter, who once owned a gunsmithing shack deep in the forest/mountains, with some useful equipment you could use. Then you'd be on your way searching the whole of Cherneruse trying to find this depot. Loot spawn would be generated at random locations tied to the note, ofcourse. Comments? Beans?
  21. It would be brilliant, if the DayZ infrastructure allows it, to set up a persistent base/store, where players could buy and sell goods. Having an armory where a skilled gunsmith could craft different types of rounds would be brilliant. With sufficient skill, a gunsmith could fashion super-charged rounds for that extra kick and/or range for a price. Is anything like this planned for?

Plan for release of 0.45 to Stable

    so tomorrow then? :|
  23. Well... If I had all the equipment and a base, before I decide to leave, I'd make sure that I spooled up about three or four clips of ammo before setting off, this way I am not insecure about running out of it.I wouldn't mind doing this at all if it meant that I stand less chance of running out of it. What would also add to the suspense is if we had the guarantee of well modeled zombies and roaming zombie herds that truly gave us our money's worth of challenge. I don't think that ammo would need to be RARE in this case. You'd just have to be using it more than you are now in order to stay alive. It would also invite the possibility of players trading with each other.

    "Notch Gun" Action Option

A person notches their gun for many reasons. It could be based on the number of confirmed kills, or the number of times it has been inspected, or even the number of times jammed... It means whatever you want it to mean. A notched gun adds personality to it. It's a sentimental thing. You'd need to have an attachment to your fine arm to understand. Me... I notched my Lee Enfield point three o' three every time I cleaned and greased it down.
  25. I will post this in a separate thread then.
