See? Now this is forward thinking. Have my beans, god damn it. I would like to stumble across a note that says something like "while running away from a swarm, I lost my dad's watch that he had past down from his great gran dad" This might prompt me to go hunting for that watch... or a note hinting to someone loosing their beautifully crafted Holland and Holland side-by-side heirloom shotgun By picking the note up, the item is spawned when you are in close proximity to its general location. Your easter egg hunt begins...

To avoid troll missions, there will have to be a mission vetting system in place.
-
problem with this is that it only proves my point. With nothing to do, DayZ will invariably de-evolve into a player vs. Player shooter. Not a damn thing about Zombies. Where are the zombie swarms. Where is the purpose? Just hiding and shooting other players.

Yes. you are right. This is arrogant (which is not bad in and of itself, as I too am arrogant albeit in a supremely good way). However, this statement was also foolish, and this makes it a bad thing. The aim of this game is not to isolate anyone (except for those stupid knuckle dragging COD fanboys). The quests/missions I have in mind do not involve NPC's delivering them. However, if you do not want to take up these side story quests, then you simply have to ignore them. 10 to 1 says you wouldn't tho.

If you think this is what I mean by 'missions' this is very short sighted of you. I am not suggesting that anyone bring anything back. On the otherhand, missions that allow the player to solve certain mysteries surrounding the overall lore of the game would be fun. For example, player comes across a note hinting to a kid who left a note to their parents about where they fled to escape zombies. Player follows the trail of bread crumbs and finally discovers the zombified corpse of the little girl, and puts it out of its misery... or not. Or follows a trail of clues that reveal how the outbreak started. Or even following clues that eventually lead to hidden loot. These little mystery side missions will only add character to the game. They do not require that you 'bring' anything back to anyone.

foolishness. Having small easter egg type missions would not interfere with the gameplay for those who do not need them. They are OPTIONAL It would add to the game, not take away from it. There is nothing wrong with this at all. As it stands, sandbox or not, there are very few things you can do: You either team up with other players and shoot zombies, or avoid other people and shoot zombies/people. This gets boring after a while, and is guaranteed to have the game de-evolve into PvP. Trust me. On the other-hand, if easter-egg hunt missions are integrated, it gives players that want this, a purpose for being in the game.

And speaking of crickets, will there be crickets, frogs, dragonflies, mosquitoes bearing disease by the swamps and things? -

I have realized that the dev team have been suspiciously silent on whether they will include ammo crafting in the alpha release. Obviously, I take this to mean that it will definitely be included, and that they are secretly working on this functionality and will have something similar to the lee reloading kit in-game. Good job Dev team, make us proud!! -

or eat it when you get bored and hungry... But also, I think it would be a nice thing to have for players to spawn into a rat or other such creepy crawly while waiting for a server slot to play, or when they die... it'd be like being reincarnated into lowly vermin in their next life. If their humanity was good, they get to be a butterfly, bird or bat. This would male a brilliant way to stalk players unknowingly. It'd be like: Dude.. this rat's been following my ass for the last 8 hours. What's that about?! -

Definitely not. Individual server admins will have absolutely no access to this data via a viewer. There is no reason for them to have this... The aim is simply to store and transmit packets of tracking data of a given location for each avatar to each client at that location. The tracking data has a finite lifetime, after which it will degrade and be replaced by more recent data (if any) or reset. This would be similar to a circular database buffer. Upon reset, a new localized packet for each client is transmitted. Theoretically, this transmitted packet could also include other information such as weather, zombie swarms data and fog data. The client would then be solely responsible for rendering this data once received, albeit not given the ability do enable or disable rendering things like weather, zombie swarms or fog. -

Not necessarily. Track data for the entire map can be stored on the server database while not displayed globally. As each user logs on and positioned in a specific region, that track data is sent to the client, and it becomes the client's responsibility to have that data translated graphically to their screen. In this case, the main task of the server would be to track player movement in real-time (which is already being done), store that data, and transmit that data to each client specific to their location. After that, there is no need for server involvement. -

I noticed the player is making tracks as they walk bare footed. This is good, but the tracks should be persistent and wash away only after a long time or with rain. also, grass should be disturbed as they move through it as well. Where the inventory menu is concerned, it should be designed such that that some crafting can only be accomplished if the player takes the items out, places them on the ground, and build or craft the item from there while in a kneeling position. An example of this would be in hand loading your own cartridges with a kit similar to the lee reloading started kit which (from the all the glaringly obvious hints in this video) will definitely be available in the alpha release!! Thank you rocket! And by the way... a tactical vest is still a good thing to have even if it is shot up. The more pockets you have, the better off you are. Unless it is also designed that pockets spawn holes and tear over time which, in my opinion, is a good idea. -

I think Ericko needs a Diaper change... Any takers? :P -
Did you fall prey to this young fellow's advances in the past? Only then should you be worried. My advice would be to try not to get too hot and bothered with this Casanova's latest online activities. ;)
