    Realism Vs Enjoyment

Moving loot out of normal buildings an into outhouses/car wrecks , breaking cooking, apple trees that have only ONE apple on them at a time, some servers being barren wastelands while others have loot bombs every five steps is the way the game is supposed to go? The fuck? Also "wage slaves", I'm going to assume from this that you fall into the categories of NEET or child.

Where is loot in .55 update ?

Outhouses and car wrecks. Everything spawns in them now. Houses are more or less pointless at this point. Oh, and some servers just don't have loot as well. Hope you enjoy server hopping.

    No Loot Spawning?

Its great to see how well the community has faired post .55 It seems to have divided into people generally frustrated with the changes and elitist pricks who tell them to HTFU or go back to cawadooty so the aformentioned elitists can go back to spamming the apple picking option. As to OP, some servers are borked and have fuck all, others have loot bombs every five feet. The goal of this patch seems to be to promote server hopping or something.

    Improvised Bow Broken in 0.55?

So wait, the patch that is supposed to push us into hunting/fishing and cooking as a means to survive, has broken both fishing and cooking? Keep up the good work devs.

    Game Balancing in Alpha

I ate charred meat once and was dead within the hour, I don't want to see what happens if you eat raw meat.

    Does DayZ need aeiral transport?

Slow down the run speed. Implement land vehicles. Implement air transport. I don't care if they add armored vehicles or gunships as long as the ammo is rare and there are forms of counterplay. ATGMs, AA Missiles, RPGs, IEDs, DshKMs, Underbarrel grenades.
  7. I liked the old loot style of "I need guns/ammo/military gear, I'll go to one of the military bases." "I need medical supplies, I'll go to a hospital." because it meant you knew where to look for things, obviously, but also because it meant I knew where I'd have a higher chance of meeting people for gud fites or diplomacy, or hell even just to see another human being once in a while. With the new "Toilets and car crashes are the endgame loot zones" in the latest patch the game feels empty. We're 40 people playing on a 200 sq km map, spread way the hell out searching every nook and cranny for cans of beans in Hicksville. Since I've stayed as far away from the coast once I managed to get off of it, I haven't seen a damn person. If I played near the coast I'd prolly see freshies on Life Attempt #1285 rambling about but once I got inland it got dead real fast, and this game is boring as sin when its you vs zombies for two hours. I went and ambled down the middle of the strip at NWAF popping shots at zombies for a while. No ghillie suited sniper dropped me, no M4 wielding man sprayed me from the hangar doors, I didn't get rekt by a burst of long range AKM from the trees. Nothing. At all. On a server with forty people. I walked right down the middle of what was once the most dangerous place in the game, and was greeted by the silence Sometimes you have to forgo realism for the sake of the game, because you don't buy a multiplayer game to run around and never meet another human.
  8. Well, considering equipment and food is scarce, I see no reason to not kill everyone I see. They'll have some type of gear on them that I can prolly take for myself, I can take whatever food they have so I don't starve to death again, and if I have a knife I can make dinner out of them. Before the patch I was more likely to avoid or attempt some sort of contact, since my character took a short time to gear to an acceptable level at which I could survive for a while. But now that the average play session for me off a a fresh spawn is creeping around towns looking through empty houses for an can of tuna so I don't starve to death for 30 minutes before getting RKO'd by a zombie, when I actually have gear it means I need to take more care with it. So killing or running off anyone who comes within a ~300m line of sight of me is the most prudent course of action.

    Realism Vs Enjoyment

This is more or less my experience with these forums, if you have an opinion that doesn't fall into "Ohmygawdthisgameishogreat!" people start screaming "ALPHA ALPHA IT AN ALHPUR!" or "Lol go back to Cawadooty kiddie while use real men play DayZ" And since I can't be bothered to multiquote. ArmA II is not a "military simulator" its simply more realistic than its competitors, which isn't saying much. If it were a simulator the physics wouldn't be absolutely abysmal and sniping at 800 meters wouldn't be pressing page up till the little 800 shows up then point-and-clicking the bad guys, it'd have a built in fatigue system because running 7km's at a dead sprint carrying an M249 with a dozen full boxes of ammo should kill you not make it a bit harder to aim. It'd have an in-depth medical system, not just scroll wheel to heal/revive and spend a medkit. Standing near the barrel of an Abrams firing AP rounds would either kill you from the overpressure or the shrapnel the round sheds as it's fired. Getting shot in the foot three times with an M4 would have you on the ground or limit mobility, not straight up kill you. Driving 60 ton tracked vehicles wouldn't be like driving a VW Bug in a skating rink. You'd actually be able to autorotate a helicopter while outside of ACE. Every vehicle wouldn't have a radar that IFFs random shit.

    Realism Vs Enjoyment

They've gotta walk a line between enjoyment and realism. People want realism, but if it gets too real, people stop playing and the community dies. You'll end up with a couple servers worth of people circle jerking how hardcore they are for bashing their skulls into a brick wall instead of playing a fun game.

For Everyone Complaining About The Loot........

Loot is incredibly hit or miss in .55 I spent maybe three hours of playtime just searching for items. I'd spawn, play till I died of starvation or got RKO'd by a ninja zombie, then hop to a new server and try again. Covered servers from ~10 people to 40 people. Maybe 10-15 servers in total. No loot. At all. Anywhere. Okay, thats a bit untrue, there were a few shirts and hats but no food. No weapons. Nothing useful. Then I spawned onto a server north of Novo and had two guns, a silencer for my AK, several magazines and boxes of ammo, a mountain pack, wool jacket, boonie hat, and food + water within three minutes of spawning. Then I went and combed through Novo and the surrounding towns fairly thoroughly and found a hat and a road flare. Thats insane. Completely fucking insane.

    0.55 loot spawns!

Protip: Anywhere with a decent amount of vehicle wrecks is loot heaven. That little garage complex north of Novo had me geared to the gills within three minutes of spawning. Not pictured is the three full magazines, the water bottle, and the bag of rice I found all in one jeep when I logged back in the next day.

    Where are people from Chernarus?

Judging by the contents of outhouses, it would seem a large number of military personnel exploded while answering nature's call. So one mystery is solved.
  14. Pandema

.55 loot, I'll just leave it at this.

Loot is very much not fine, its broken as fuck. Toilets covered in mil gear and jeeps with 3-4 guns + mags, with houses that have no loot is not indicative of a working system.

    Moaning about death

This post basically sums up my experience with .55 Loaded up the game because I wanted to see if the new patch made it worth playing. Stealthed around for a bit, aggro'd a zombie through building (yay stealth guyz), try'd to beat him to death with machete, gave up after it ruined my hat/vest/shirt before I hit it three times and ran, took hits the ENTIRE TIME I WAS RUNNING, then had a zombie run round the corner in front of me and KO me. Respawn'd, instant aggro from a ninja zombie, dead before I could react. Now patiently awaiting further patches while playing other games.
  16. I think the issue OP is trying to point out is, military areas aren't spawning anything, let alone military grade gear. Logically, you'd expect to find an AKM, magazines, and Gorka garb on a military outpost. Not in a outhouse in the middle of nowhere. Making guns rarer is nice, but completely randomizing the loot spawns to where nothing is logical is just silly. If I roll into a hospital, I expect to find some medical items, not farming equipment. If I walk into a grocery store I expect food, I don't expect to see defibs and morphine lying about. If I stop at the shitter, I don't expect to find an entire armory contained within. Rare loot is good, completely randomized loot is just dumb. EDIT: Also, holy shit. Whoever thought that including new zombie melee mechanics in the "don't shoot or you die" update was a fucking moron. Nothing like losing a fully geared character to one zombie because it hit you 10 times while you struggled with the useless melee weapon system trying to just hit it once

    Why snipers aren't going away

I'm genuinely curious, where do you live that has bears/wolves that run towards the sound of gun fire?
  18. Aren't people always bitching about how gritty and realistic this game is supposed to be and how its not like CoD or BF or w/e other shooter they feel like mentioning? In our lovely real world (which people want this to mimic at the expense of all else) you do not only feel the impact of every third round from an automatic weapon. You feel (assuming adrenaline hasn't kicked in yet and you still feel things) the impact of each bullet, each of which is just as likely to kill you as the last. TL;DR Guns aren't balanced in the real world, stop trying to balance guns in something want to be "realistic"

What Will Happen To PVP in 0.55?

So the new Horde system is increasing the aggro range on weapons fire? So we'll have to fall back on the terrible melee system when anywhere near where zombies spawn? Such impressive. Much Wow.
  20. My understanding is that its people somewhere on the map doing something that corresponds with what you're hearing, its a bug thats been around since release and apparently they don't feel like fixing it.

The weakest thing you can do

I love threads like these "Wah wah wah some mean person shot me in a game, I better got cry to people who don't care at all!" Its just a game bud, calm down. Theres no "right" way to play it.

    Experience: The CCP Way

It was late and I didn't read the thread in its entirety, missed the fact you lose it when you die.

    Experience: The CCP Way

This'd kill the immersion for me. In EvE its justified because lol Jove tech ain't gotta explain shit and clones so that when you "die" you don't really "die" In DayZ when someone mag dumps you with an AKM at <5 feet you don't have a back up clone waiting to receive your consciousness.
